Idk if anyone's pointed this out yet but if we get a new DK game in late 2024/early 2025, then roughly the same amount of time will have passed between it and Tropical Freeze as there was between DK64 and Returns
@@UncleAlPlus Wasn't there also rumours of a DK movie following the Mario movie? So you got a theme park, a potential movie, there's indications Nintendo hired staff specifically for DK AND there's rumours of a new game. (although I did accidentally play a part in that rumour spreading). I guess it 's a lot of rumours and nothing confirmed but, there's a lot lining up for a DK comeback as you say in the vid.
Yep the movie rumors were a thing as well, may get a better idea of whether that's happening following the Mario movie. All in all there's a lot of smoke right now, pretty confident it's leading up to a game... Eventually lol
HELL YEAH BROTHER, LET ME GET IN ON THAT 9 YEAR COPIUM!!!!! But jokes asides the Mario Movie and Birdo joining 8 Deluxe give me additional hope that DK isn't out of the running yet.
I was there for the livestream, and I was disappointed in not seeing a new DK game, too. Don’t know if you saw this or if it popped up, but I said in the livestream chat that Jungle Beat 2 would be cool to see. Probably be weird and impossible to do, but seeing the same mechanics brought into a 3D space would be sick, and yes, bringing back all the other Kongs and Kremlings would be amazing. I would also be down for co-op and multiplayer if it could somehow happen. #KopeforKong
I quite honestly gave up hope for another DK game at the end of 2021, but it does legitimately make me very happy to see others who still keep the hope alive. Tho, I have to agree with what you said about it being a while before we get anything else if we do at all, and honestly at this point what's another five years bare minimum? I just get so tired of getting my hopes (and my summoning circle) up every time there's potential for the news like a Nintendo Direct or The Game Awards. I know everyone else is too, and that's honestly what makes the wait so frustrating to me. I will take a spin-off game at this point!!!! Barrel Blast 2.0, Donkey Kong Party, King of Swing threequel, even Donkey Konga 4!!!!! Please, Nintendo, we just want SOMETHING tangible!!! It's the main thing I hyperfixate on and it kills me every time there's a glimmer of hope only for it to lead to nothing or more questions than answers.
To be honest, I'm wanting DK to dip his bananas in the chocolate dip of the Soulslike genre. It would be hilarious to see a Donkey Kong game where DK goes around the DK world taking on the kingdoms of the Kremlings, The Bad Kongs, The Tiki Tak Tribe and the Snowmads in dark souls combat to get DK's bananas back. You could give DK new abilities throughout the game to defeat a myriad of bosses that are hard as coconuts. The Other Kong members can act as summons to help you fight each boss and there would be so much lore to the DK universe that would have never gotten explained in other games. And the final boss would be the spirit of DK's strongest ancestor from long ago! That would be CRAZY!!!
The thing I hate about a lot of online rumors is they tend to just be these obvious, vague statements that anyone could guess. I could say there's going to be a new mario game on the new nintendo switch and it just comes off as an obvious guess. I'd say that a new 3D DK being release sometime in the future is just another obvious guess, and if it's still obvious then there's still hope for the franchise. Can't say the same for a series like F-Zero
We might not get any new dk games BUT we will probably be getting Diddy and funky in the booster course pass and I think that will hold us off for now. Edit: I told y'all
I think a new DK game would thrive with bringing Bluster Kong back into the series. Ya he was from the show but he really would be a great antagonist/rival for DK in the games. They brought the Crystal Coconut into the games as a collectible so Bluster could happen. I think giving Donkey Kong a rival could also help differentiate him from Mario as Mario doesn't have too many rival characters. Bluster also has a personality that is very different from what you would see in Mario. He would add more lore to the DK games and having him transform into Leo Luster for a boss fight would be rad.
I feel like the Switch was Metroid's big Return. The amount of Support the Metroid franchise got with this console was Insane, so part of me is thinking whatever the next console is, it has to be DKs or God forbid, Star Foxes I've been replaying Tropical Freeze and I love how much effort they put into this game. I really hope Nintendo does SOMETHING big with DK
I'd love to see a new 3d adventure. I think DK has a lot of potential for 3d that was, well, I don't want to say squandered for DK64, but it wasn't the step I was hoping to see be taken, is how I'll put it. I personally would love to see him get more aggressive and action packed like in Jungle Beat, but I won't keep my hopes up. Whatever we get, whenever we get it though, I'll still be excited for no matter what.
Im so desperate, please Nintendo, i'll Take back every single bad thing I've said about you in the past. It'll cut your hate comments in half I promise
You know, sometimes I think about how our grandpas used to have their own heroes and franchises to care for. Sure the 50s and 40s cared less about creating something coherent and with artistic integrity, but you know... At some point, people forgot about them. Maybe it'll be the turn of our heroes too.
Man, I remember when people thought there was gonna be TWO Danky Kang games. That said even a cynical bastard like me also thinks they are probably holding off DK for the inevitable Switch 2 or whatever new console Nintendo is surely gonna reveal later this year or next. I usually never believe these sort of leaks or predictions but this one makes the most logical sense. Hell I don't even think having DK lead the next console generation is as risky as you make it sound to be. Sure it's not the big 3 (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon) but it's still very much one of the largest and best selling series they've consistently have even despite Ninento's seemingly lack of direction.
It would be nice to have a Donkey Kong mega pack. A rebuild of previous titles for the Switch. It would make sense to have all of them bundled under one launcher app. Maybe do what 343 did with Halo. Unless Nintendo plans to release a more powerful version of the Switch, similar to Steamdeck, I don't see what Nintendo could do to improve the Switch other than to add more powerful hardware from AMD and a larger battery with switch controller size options and a higher resolution screen. There's a lot that can be improved with the Switch. The only big issue is that Nintendo would need to stock hundreds of warehouses with new consoles to meet order demands and just ruin any efforts for scalpers to scalp the system.
If they are planning something big for DK, a new title could very easily be an open-world game similar to Odyssey and BoTW. If BoTW’s climbing mechanics were implemented, we could see a real follow up to DK64 that lets players pilot the Ape over a vast and varied Kong Island.
Another new batch of copeium: Apparently there's a new "leak" for the characters coming to Mario kart via the BCP, and 4 of them (5 if we're gonna count Pauline) are all DK characters. Funky, Diddy, Dixie,...and pixel DK Jr.
I feel the only way to go from here is a proper 3D adventure. DK64 probably did make a blemish on that idea, but with the success of Kirby and the forgotten land. I think they should do a proper go. Question is if it will be more of a 3D take on Country (Point A to B platformer) or something more open like the collectathon N64 title.
We koping for kong so hard, it's all in a matter of when we'll get it, but damn, I really hope whatever we get lies under the same level of quality as the past games. The backgrounds of each game are masterpiece on its own, and I hope Nintendo gives us that same itch. Honestly the motto of dk fans should be "Good things come to those who wait" at this point lmao
I wouldn't be surprised if they announce a new DK game on the next Nintendo console; which I am interested in what the new system is. But can they, at the VERY least, give us something to look forward in relation to DK?
Best way for me to kope is to watch ppl talk about older titles, I dunno if you will be interested but I would really be interested on you talking about one of my favorite games of the IP, Jungle Beat!
Happy Year 9 Copium. You make a good point though, it'd be a strange time for even modern Nintendo to release a big DK game at the end of a successful console's lifespan, rather than at the start or halfway through. All things considered, Tropical Freeze releasing in Feb 2014 for a console that had a debatable lifespan from late 2012-late 2017 (end of Miiverse) was still pretty early in the Wii U's lifespan. Although I do notice a pattern of DK console games usually launching in the middle of a console's lifespan (DK64 1999, DKC1 1994, DK Jungle Beat 2004, etc.), I'm hopeful that pattern will change and maybe, just maybe, DK can lead the launch titles for the next Nintendo home console.
The later we see a new Donkey Kong game the better IMO when there are rumors of the next gen console going around. I'd hate to see a DKC as the final Switch game and would prefer to see it as a new staple for next gen. Later also means more polish as I'd hate to see DK get the Pokemon treatment.
Crazy, isn't it? How we got 3 mainline titles in the 90s, and just one in the 2010s, unless you count 2010 as only 2010s instead of the last year of the 2000s
If getting a major 3d entry means waiting until the next console, i can wait. Honestly i just hope the game avoids the shitshow reveal fiasco tropical freeze had to go through.

right now it seems like almost any kind of 3d dk game could be cool. but dk has also slipped my mind. it does feel like it's going to be a few more years before another game.
My copium tank is completely dry now But if I’m honest, I’m expecting it to release for the next Nintendo System the same year as Metroid Prime 4 (Which will close off the Switch Era through a dual release the same way BOTW did for the Wii U)
Look, I’m all for a new donk game, I’m personally after a new WARIO platformer, 3D (ala wario world) or another 2D game (like his arguably greatest achievement) but my copium (WAHpium?) has nearly run dry no thanks to them making him no longer an immortal treasure hunter, but rather a indie studio head.
You should look into the Famibaords DK thread and DK Vine E3 threads. Lots of talk about a certain cancelled DK game (NOT the upcoming EPD game) that you may or may not be already aware of. But it shows that Nintendos been cooking for a long, long time with DK. It's gonna pay off but they'll sure take their sweet ass time. Though I personally don't think we're going to see a new system until early 2025, based on the fact that Splatoon 3 was confirmed to have updates until September of 2024, a full 2 years of content. And sure, they may port Splat 3 to the next system/make it backwards compatible, or simply not uphold their roadmap, but those don't seem that likely to me. DK could come out as soon as this year, or we could be in a WII scenario where all the momentum Nintendo built up slows down while they work on the next systems launch, only this time they probably will make sure they have enough big games near launch to prevent another Wii U situation. DK could even be one of those. But the fact that EPD runs a tight ship means its up in the air until we get official word unfortunately. There's a bit of light at the end of the tunnel for us DK fans though, which is more than we could say about last year, or the year before.
2019: denial
2020: anger

A 3D Donkey Kong where you could play as all of the different Kongs would be pretty rad.
Like a cooler DK64.
Just make it like DK64 but you can switch kongs immediately through a menu instead of hunting for a barrel
Or how nitro rad said in his review of some game or something 😊
*YEARRRRR NINE! GIVE IT UP FOR YEAAAAARRRRR NIIIIIIIIIIIINNEE!!*
The thought that there could be a greater gap of time between DK games than Pikmin games (Not Hey Pikmin, that one doesn't count) is nuts to me.
Idk if anyone's pointed this out yet but if we get a new DK game in late 2024/early 2025, then roughly the same amount of time will have passed between it and Tropical Freeze as there was between DK64 and Returns
Don't say these things
Bet. In 2024 Nintendo is gonna announce Donkey Kong Country Returns: Returns - 3D World or New Donkey Kong County Returns.
I'm about 90% sure Nintendo are working on a new DK game right now.
All signs point to it happening really. Always just comes back around to when
