    Here we have the same 461, 32" Stihl bar, and comp chain that was used in the 461 vs 462c-m video earlier.
    The Psy-Ko-ized 572 makes minced meat of the 461 in stock form. Easily seen in this session.
    Think the dialog covers everything.
    I am currently available for custom saw modifications. if you are interested, please shoot me an email.

    What the sthil seemed to lack in RPM was made up for in torque. The Husqvarna pulled harder but was hardly stock. I honestly didn't see a significant difference in time however. I am forced to use a Stihl saw at work. Company preference, but for my own cutting I prefer Husqvarna. Just one of those Chevy vs Ford things I guess. Thanks for the video Jack, interested in your opinion.

    tevk questions .my Ms 660 needle bearing in the clutch looks a little blue after milling some 7'x24" slabs 6 cuts sharp chain 9000rpm cutting letting it cool off after each pass before shutting down the saw what is causing the damage ? the milling or the long idling

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  Před 4 lety +1

      Blain hi.
      Blue on bearings = over heating. That's not a good thing.
      Stihl uses a composite cage on the drum bearing purposefully imho.
      I'm going to assume that you have made sure the control bolt for the oiler output is on "Maxy". If your idling the saw and the bar groove is not completely caked then oil may actually be helping the process.
      No offense intended here, but a sharp chain doesn't mean it is making chips. Dust is one of a chain's nightmares since it sucks up any extra oil while at the same time plugging up the passage hole & groove more often than not. The stops/rakers/riders/depth gauges, whatever you want to call them, have to be set appropriately for the teeth angles, power of the saw, and wood density aa well.
      Milling is like a dyno run for a saw - hard on equipment. Second, most new saws don't have a passage in the end of the crank for greasing the clutch drum bearing. So all the lubricating oil has to "slop" off the chain. This is after going the entire way around the bar - whatever length - except for what I mentioned above. With that, any excess oil has to then make a 90° bend (this is after coming around the sprocket) and pass between the clutch drum/bearing/crankshaft.
      Having a tight (to) in that application is a consideration.
      And, not being right there to view the activities & get a feel for the chain makes an accurate assessment for me impossible.
      I'm thinking you are picking up what I'm laying down.
      Thanks for watching.

      @@hotsaws101 oiler on max . chain sharp yes ripping was s bit dusty compared to felling. bearing only slightly blue. I did let it idle lots after each pass maybe that's part of the problem. problem with chainsaw milling. extra dust +heat + 9000 rpm worked hard that day.thankyou for the helpful information. liken the videos

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  Před 4 lety

      @@blainstenberg2806 I think having any possible excess oil running down the bar groove while it is idling is better than not.
      It is impossible to tell anything about your chain "over the phone". Here is a link > czcams.com/video/xz9dLM0PRiM/video.html
      It shows chips (noodles) in a ripping application. You should still have chips while ripping. Not dust. If I were doing a steady diet of ripping the chain would be toned down a little from what you see here. But it would not be mostly dust and few chips.
      Hope this helps.

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  Před 5 lety +1

      Michael hi. The 461s have a standard version carburetor with needles that are limited by stops.
      There is no way the stock, off the shelf saw is going to be close to a modded saw. Provided we are talking about saws in the relatively same class range - nowadays ya always gotta qualify things.

    Was curious dose putting a bigger exhaust hole in the muffler help a saw run better or even putting an extra hole. Yes the husky pulls a lot better. They always seem to cut faster. Any how could you answer my question if you have time... love the videos.

    • @CSkwirl
      @CSkwirl Před 5 lety

      For most saws, yes it does, I do an extra hole and on some mufflers there's an internal baffle so you have to take it off and hole that too. As it has better flow you can generally retune it for a bit more power

    • @hotsaws101
      @hotsaws101  Před 5 lety +4

      Randy hi. It does two things: Helps by evacuating the exhaust better and the saw will run cooler since the exhaust is not as backed up. The saw may or may not need tuning (if it is possible to do so) after depending on how it is set up (rich, lean, or just right) at that time. Thanks for watching.

      Emerald Stevens hi. I don't have a stock 044 for a compro similar to this. The Psy-Ko 044 is faster through the cut than the equally "did" 572xp. But, the 044 has much better air flow at this point. I'm trying to get the okay from the owner to mod the flow in the 572xp. Thanks for watching.
