So quite literally, french is the Latin derived language spoken in the area with a heavy German accent. Carlos really appreciated Charles' efforts! There's just generally a different vibe between the multilingual drivers, there's so much more of an effort to speak each others language than the anglophones do.

    • @RoPEK123xd
      @RoPEK123xd Před 3 lety +53

      i feel like the reason is that many anglophones simply don't know any other languages, whereas the others are pretty much obliged to learn english, their native language and sometimes some more, either for fun, business or if they had the privilege of being born in a multi-linguistic family/are in relation with someone who speaks a different language.
      some of those still do apply to anglophones, but since they already speak english, they usually don't have the necessity to bother with learning other languages. it's difficult and time consuming and i understand why they wouldn't like it, especially when they already know the most useful language of all.
      also the more languages you know, the easier it is to learn or pick-up new ones. there are some similarities between certain languages (like spanish and italian for example, or slavic langs) and also the general similarities like the sentence and grammar structures. many times they are similar or the same, so by knowing a similar language before-hand, you're already off to a good start, compared to someone who doesn't.
      if you're already bilingual and are learning another language you're familiar with the learning process, which you might've not paid very much attention to, during the process of learning your native language. so that's another potential reason why charles impressed carlos.
      everytime you pick up a new language you will be applying all the knowledge you've gathered since the time you've started learning the previous one. im currently learning my 3rd language and i keep catching myself on applying some of my learning strategies that i've obtained throughout the years of learning english. and if i knew them before, i'm sure the process of learning it would've been much smoother and quicker. and i know that if i'm gonna start learning 4th language, i'll make sure make the best use of my current knowledge, too

      @@RoPEK123xd exactlyyyyy. plus it’s not that easy to learn a new language if you’re only fluent in english, unlike how much easier it is for people who are fluent in french or spanish for example. it’s mostly just that. not laziness.

    • @RoPEK123xd
      @RoPEK123xd Před rokem +3

      @@xfreja i'd say it's both, but maybe not laziness, but lack of proper motivation. if you don't need to know a language, you're not gonna be as motivated as someone who actually needs to use it, either sometimes (like family meetings) or simply everyday (when you live in a foreign country or work using a foreign language).
      it's much harder for a western language speaking person to learn some Asian language and vice-versa, because those 2 groups of languages are fundamentally different. it's completely different than learning any European language, for many many reasons.
      of course some languages may be more difficult to learn than others, for example slav languages are very similar to each other, making them easier for someone who already speaks a slav lang, but it's not like anything other than yourself stops you from learning any other completely unrelated language.
      you do have a point with the similarity, but it's not a big obstacle, if you're motivated enough, which many people aren't. consistency is the key and even 2-10 minutes a day can get you to a level that will eventually be self-improving, by that i mean, you'll be able to use and understand it to some degree that will be enough to keep you motivated and start "switching to it" at will. participate in discussions, listen and understand some of it, talk to yourself, keep a diary, think in that language. by using it, you will get better. thing is, at the beginning, there's not much use, usually. you can and should try to use even single words or sentences, but it obviously won't get you very far at this point, however it will help you to get further and later you'll be able to simply use it the way you'd use a language you already know.
      people must know that no matter how well educated they are, there will be words they won't understand, jokes they don't get, etc. we constantly do even in our native language, then why be discouraged when you don't understand some stuff in a language that nobody taught you. you didn't understand a lot when you were a baby and you were a native, yet you ended up being fluent and knowing "everything" about your native language.
      but then, think how many years, months, days, how many hours in total, it took you to get this good at your native language. using that language every single day, ever since you spoke your first word. and it's still not perfect and will never be. with this in mind, continue practicing the foreign language and know that it's a long process of chasing the perfection, that you will never catch, so be happy with what you achieved and what you can do with it, use it as your own motivator, don't look how much there's left to learn, look at how much you've learned and where you've been a month, a year or a few years ago. you've practiced, even those few minutes per day and it all added up. it's not as much as you did when you were just learning your native language with everyday exposure, but still you've made massive progress and you should be proud of it.
      also the more languages you know, the easier they become. they are sets of rules and many of them are common or are only slightly different. while they won't be obvious at all if you know only one, you will be noticing those similarities when learning the second, third and so on. it goes for both grammar and vocabulary, but grammar mostly.
      forgive me the wall of text. i hope this can inspire some people to learn a new language or revisit the one they took a break from. all you need is motivation and consistency and they can both power each other! "having time" is not necessary, nobody is so busy they can't save up 2 minutes per day and many people simply kill their time a lot, so instead of doing that, they could learn a language!

With pierre being close to charles, pierre and carlos also talk more. + I’m pretty sure he gets along well with both Kvyat and Verstappen.
