      Most of them have valid points though, the reason keys like that are so cheap is because it's scarily easy for even a novice hacker to copy the data from them and make a duplicate, they barely have any security to them and your car has inadvertently been made easier to steal, the majority of the comments try to convey this message but I agree partially that some comments were just unnecessary and had no actual beneficial information.

    Delivery Drivers get paid like 70p per drop off they do so want to be as quick as they can. On an 8 hour day you're talking nearly 100 parcels to just get past the minimum wage barrier (which they don't get as most are self-employed.)

      I used to work multi drop and collection for a well known company . Its a stress demanding job and very long hours , i would do a sixteen hour day and that's including getting out of bed at 3 am and not getting home until 9pm and that's early for some drivers . And if you got beck to the depo and you still had parcels on board . You had to leave them on your van and they would be added to your next day delivery, so 100 drops could turn into 180 and thats without the timed deliveries or collections . By the weekend i was knackerd and hardly ever saw my kids , so next time any one moans about a multi drop driver not delivering your parcel on time ect . Just be aware these guys are under allot of pressure from transport management and time and work long hours for very little paye .

    To reset the service 'Insp' indicator:
    1. Turn off ignition.
    2. Hold down odometer button then turn on ignition - don't start the engine.
    3. Continue to hold down the odo. button for about ten seconds or until display changes.
    4. Turn off ignition.
    Job done.

  • @oxulucozcan4923
    @oxulucozcan4923 Před 5 lety +1

    Couple of tips,
    If you cut a little tiny piece of cloth and squeeze the chip to its slot with the cloth; it's going to stick no matter what. Also to get it off, if you gently pry it with a thin pick or itty bitty flat head, it'll come right off. Plus; you want that to stay put to prevent little clicking noise when the fob is shaken.
    I know it's fancier, but the hinge on the flip key will probably loosen up in no time ( I couldn't find a way to keep it snug (yet). So, it'll help to store the old key parts if you have OCD against loose things, like me).
    Do be sure that the cut key blade will work in your door lock. If you suddenly have flat on the battery in the fob and key doesn't work with the door lock (or bonnet in the case with focus), you're going to have a bad time.
    Try to find a hack way to reprogram a new chip and remote. (focus mk2f, goes in to reprogramming mode when doors are closed, driver's seat belt fastened and ignition being unlocked and locked once again 6 to 10 times in 10 or so seconds, appearing as little quiet 'beep'. If you manage to do that, you're golden)
    Get in touch if you have any further questions. Cheers mate. Love your vids

    These keys are great for replacing old current keys. I had an Astra h key that fell to pieces but saved a fortune by moving the circuit board into a new blank from eBay. One thing to mention is that only independent key cutters will cut the blade. Timpsons policy is not to do it even when you show them the old key you’re fixing. The metal key badges you can buy really cheap from eBay are a nice final touch.

      @robert907 Před 5 lety

      Kevin Bhasi yes get paid cents for package. Like 60 cents or so. U have to load your own vehicle up, sort them for drop off efficiency and to avoid driving dead miles. And usually have anywhere from 100-250 packages a day. Gps doesn’t always work, houses aren’t always easily accessible, protective dogs etc. Start working before sun is up and don’t end till long after sun has gone down. I used to deliver how I know all this.

The eBay fobs I bought were slightly wrong so I ended up getting the correct ones on Amazon. The fobs don't usually come with the stickers so you'll have to buy them separately. I wanted to do this on my Mk4 Astra but I never got round to it. Don't ditch the old key. It will come in handy as a spare and you can get a new chip programmed for it so it can be used to start the car. Have you considered getting the OP COM/VAUX COM diagnostic software and cable? With 2 Corsas and the Astra it will come in useful and you can do most stuff that the GM Tech 2 does. I wish I'd bought mine when I still had the Astra. I've already used it with the Corsa and Vectra.

      The problem with the clocks has a solution: Bring it to an electronic specialist (or just someone who knows how to solder electronics) and rectify all soldering points in the printed circuit board of the clocks, every single one, one by one (some 1 1/2 hours of labour, nothing too much...) and you get your clocks back to life.

    Disliked this vid. As an auto locksmith who deals with keys on a day to day basis, the amount of times we see customers who have tried this and either lost the transponder chip, damaged their key etc is unbelievable. We then have to attend the customers vehicle to fix the problem.
    If you're thinking of doing this, simply put, don't. There are a number of reasons;
    1) Some transponder chips in keys are secured in with a resin, and if you crack the chip when taking it out of the case, you will have to pay someone to come and supply and program a new one.
    2) No reputable auto locksmith will cut a key that you have supplied yourself. We pay a lot of money for our machinery, equipment & cutters and aren't going to risk cutting a £6 blade that you've ordered off eBay that may damage our equipment.
    3) The cases that are supplied on eBay are absolute rubbish. As an auto locksmith, we spend a long time testing different key cases from different suppliers to find the best ones out there. The chances are, the £6 case that you're buying won't last 6 months.
    Please take it from someones who's been doing this a long time, stick to the way your original key was designed. You might think i'm being a killjoy, but genuinely trying to save people money.

      Leave them too it, they're adults and if they want to mess about with a car key (god knows why) let them. When they screw it up they'll ring you to come and earn a bit of cash off them. Don't feel bad for charging for your skills, think of it as idiot tax.

    I got a 2015 gtc Sri, and the tight bastards only gave you one flip kit, the spare was a normal old style like the one you swapped out.
    Just got an 18 leon FR and that came with two flip keys, but God thay are far larger than the the Vx one was.
    I do like that style 3 door astra you have there. I had the 5 door version in 03 (company car), iirc only the 1.6 entry (ish) level, but I liked it a lot.

  • @Kev_Smith
    @Kev_Smith Před 5 lety

    Did this myself however - what's your experience of the remote failing? I used a brand new battery and over time the remote side of it became very intermittent and eventually gave up completely. Had to pad out the PCB with folded paper which helped for a short while. From browsing the AON and AOC (when it existed) forums it seems a common issue.
    Bit of a nightmare getting it cut at Timpsons these days as they don't seem to like cutting your own blade.

      Just don't flip-flip-flip-flip the key and the crappy molded flip kechanism will last longer. Speaking from experience. 15 key fob experience.
      And also try to grab the key at its neck when cranking the engine not to put stress on the fob.
