- I did a rear resonator delete on my 2017 Dodge Challenger GT. This video includes a before and after, as well as my thoughts and impressions on the mod and driving experience. Hope this is informative and helps you make a decision for yourself! Enjoy!

That actually sounds very nice for a v6. Good job very valuable info for anyone that's young and buys a v6.
Great review thanks!
You bet! Hope it was helpful, if even entertaining!
sounds so much better
I have a 2014 charger sxt with the V6 as well , after watching/listening to your video im going to have it done to mine ,,,,, sounds good 2 me !!
Glad I can help, enjoy!!!
Solid dude. I own a 2021 Charger GT and going to do the resonators soon. Sounds ballsy
It’s well worth it! Enjoy!
how did this go, i am thinking of the same thing, but the way I am going to do it is (Factory converter, factory x pipe, 2 magnaflow #10416, Stock Mids, delete the rears
@@envygotnext9402the GT is different I think. Idk if regular v6s come with a cold air intake, if they don’t, the GT does and it sounds a bit deeper and with just a rear end muffler delete, you can pop shifting in 1st and 2nd
Hell yea brother gonna start talking to my mechanic about getting this done
Glad I could help encourage you!
very much improved sound. thanks for sharing. ive thought about getting a new gt vs a 5 years old R/T. you've def given me hope
that dodge green is excellent too. cheers!!
Thank you very much! I hope I can help you make a decision! Cheers!
got the Borla ATAK on my SXT. best way to go in my opinion.
Put on some quads 3 or 4 inche it's going to sound even better. 😊
I intend to soon!😊
I put cherry bomb extremes for mids and it sounds awesome....
Sounds good to me. What size are the exhaust tips? Stock ones or larger 4-5 inch?
Not sure. I did at some point but I forget rn. A quick search wlll tell you I’m sure
I own the same 2017 lime green challenger SXT 🤚🏼 Does it reduce the engine life somehow? Coz many people told me not to have the muffler delete because it will reduce your engine life. How true is that?
Ah, a fellow green go Clearcoat! Neat! No, deleting the muffler or resonator will have no affect on engine life.
now pop out the blinker blackouts and put a hellcat lower air box and take off the plastic engine cover. it sounds bad to the bone when you kick it in the pants.
I ain’t taking off the blackouts 😂 but does removing the engine cover somehow make it sound better?
it keeps the intake cooler, and you can pop the black out, out and put them back in if you don't like the ram air effect with the hellcat lower box. they are made to take off and put back

I have a question.. will any sensor lights turn on by removing these mufflers?
Nope, not if it’s done right by the shop!
Beautiful sub lime 😍 challenger much better 😊
Actually, my color is Green Go Clearcoat but still, thanks!! It’s definitely a head turner :))
Is this worth it if I I’m a delivery driver and drive all day? Curious I have a v6 challenger sxt
Absolutely! Adds an excellent sound on startup and acceleration. You will have mild drone while cruising (most noticeable around 1200-1500) but on the V6s it’s not bad at all, more like a low hum. I actually like it, adds character to the car and I think it makes nighttime cruises more soothing. I suppose it’ll all come down to taste, but take it from me, it’s an EXCELLENT choice!!
So what all u got done at mechanic shop just tell them to remove mid mufflers only and straight pipe?
@@williet8266 if you want what I did, say you want a REAR RESONATOR delete, NOT a muffler delete. I didn’t straight pipe mine.
@@williet8266 the responators are big chambers right at the rear of the exhaust. If you kneel down, you’ll see them
Would it interfere if I drive fast like punch it will it lag response
Man I’m pissed asf cause I just took my challenger sxt 2016 to a shop & got the mid resonator deleted & heard no difference in sound whatsoever, should I delete the rear instead ❓❓❓
The mids are the mufflers, the ones in the rear are the resonators
What does a resonator do? Can you just cut those off resonator and not put pipe?
No, if you cut out the resonators, you absolutely have to replace it with a pipe. It’s a big compartment at the end of the exhaust pipes that control the sound of the exhaust. (It’s different from a muffler. Mufflers quiet the sound, resonators control and change the sound) deleting the mufflers will result in a louder, but more rattly and annoying sound, whereas deleting the resonators will be quieter but the sound you get is more tame and natural, imo. The only downside with a resonator delete is you will have some drone, which is best described as a constant low hum when cruising at certain RPMs. Personally I like it on my V6, makes the car sound more muscle-y and agressive, but some done like it at all (like my dad lol) and it’ll get more apparent the higher up on the trims you go. In short, a resonator delete is DEFINITELY the way to go on a V6, if you don’t mind some added constant background noise.
how's the drone on the highway?
Noticeable, but not at all intrusive. More like a mild background hum. Even soothing, driving quietly at night. I don’t mind it at all. Definitely most noticeable in the 12-1500 range
So you just did the resonator delete ? No straight pipes or anything ?
Correct. Everything is still factory, just a resonator delete
Nice sounds good, are you gonna upgrade or you gonna keep it like that? Debating what I should do with mine. Nice sound tho
@@pete4054 not much else I can do on my current budget. For now, I’m really happy. I’d strongly encourage you to do a resonator delete as a beginning mod!
Rick Roll?
I’ve done the same on my 2019 sxt. True that the V8 sound can never be replicated but that resonator delete does make the V6 sound SO much better. Idk about you but I get pops from 1st to second on sport mode. Depending on the weather, if it’s a bit cold, I get pops all the way to 4th. But I think other than a borla, that resonator delete is the best sounding option on the V6.
I have no pops 🤷🏽♂️
Min pops from first to second on dead stop, and occasionally 2nd to third. Then sometimes in the high gears like 4th to 5th if i use the paddle shifters. 2022 gt with the same set up.
Is check engine light on?
no
I have a 2019 Challenger GT but I am not replacing the mufflers nor deleting the resonators. SXT and GT owners will never get the sound out of their cars that the V-8 Hemis produce.
I agree. Nothing beats a good ol scat pack startup and there’s no way to make a v6 sound even remotely like that. However, there are ways to make it sound better regardless!
@@MJTP4351your car sounds great! You have inspired me. 🙌🏼 I have a ‘21 GT that I want to do the same thing. So many V-8 owners think V-6 owners are trying to sound like them. I’m just trying to be me. One of my situations is that I live in a quiet neighborhood. I just want a little noise, but not enough to offend the neighbors when I leave before dawn to go to work. It’s a preference thing. If someone’s happy, I’m happy for them. Congratulations, and also, I LOVE the color!
@@kimberlee_kd hey, I’m glad I could help you make your own choice! I promise you won’t regret it! And thank you 😁 I’m very proud of my Green Mean Machine 💚
Gotta be honest my 12 RT charger doesn't sound like all that much stock. I mean yeah it's a v8 but not nearly as bassy as my former coyote. Not gonna touch the exhaust cause German laws would bite my ass :) and I don't really want it to be louder but a v6 with some mild axle backs can sound quite good without being obnoxious. They just choke em out so much from factory.
How you get the push start?
The push to start? All 2015+ Challengers and Chargers have that
I have 2016 and i dont have.
@@aleksandrzaitsev1927damn that sucks my remote start is like top 3 fav parts of my charger
Is it expensive?
Not horribly. $200-400
How much would you pay for something like this?
Depends on the shop. Anywhere from $200-$400
@@MJTP4351 thanks man🙏
That’s the mufflers my guy
A lot of people think that, but what I got rid of are indeed the resonators. The mufflers are bigger tubes in the middle of the exhaust. They are often confused the the name inaccurately interchanged :)
@@MJTP4351 don’t mean to sound rude or anything but I’m just curious where you heard that because I’m a mechanic and the tubes in the middle are resonators and the ones at the end are mufflers, I also have a challenger and I put an exhaust
On it recently.
Those are the mufflers not resonators
All due respect, it’s actually the other way around. The mufflers are tubes in the middle of the exhaust, underneath the cabin. The resonators are at the rear :)

Literally no difference waste of money. But hey dude it’s your money. Waste it as u please
if you're rich and young i would buy a new challenger and never drive it..put it away for 30 years..
Are you wearing lipstick?
Bro what 😂
I thought he was to 😂
