In Ontario cameras automatically come on as soon as the busses flashing lights do, are your busses equipped the same way?

my brother works for Gatekeeper systems. They're a company that specializes in camera systems for vehicles. They have tons of systems in use across North America that use stop arm cameras. If a car passes a bus with the stop arm activated three pictures are taken, the front license plate, the driver, and the rear license plate.

Put an active camera to switch on when the signs out and off when it's not. Send them a ticket and have them show up to court mandated to talk to a Judge and explain it. It's no different that a speed camera. The difference being this is to save kids lives not Big brother!

      Ahman Millener yup

    • @thehALomolov2
      @thehALomolov2 Před 6 lety +2

Ahman Millener They'd also have to change laws and do public education campaigns first, where I am the cops set up speeding cameras, but the tickets got thrown out because by law they had to have proper signage up indicating of the camera thing ahead. So the law kinda forces the cameras to be a deterrent and only tickets those that don't care and speed anyway. When I lived in that area I never saw cops patrolling and everyone just breaker for the cameras... DUI was also socially acceptable there -_-
So they'd have to change laws to allow for traffic enforcing cameras being installed on buses, proper signage of them being in use, public education campaigns to notify of the change, and then prove that it's a foolproof system that can't be screwed with.like Busdriver acticating the camera without the arm out.

This is a great idea. In my department we view infractions within close proximity of a school bus to be some of the more serious infractions, rarely issuing a warning.
We've never gone as sneaky as this but it's definitely a good idea. People will be thinking twice before driving around like a ding dong near a bus full of our future.

Several years ago I was a taxi driver. Every now and then the local police would show up at the company and borrow some taxis. They were the spotters and as soon as they caught anyone breaking the law they contacted another officer in a marked police vehicle and you got some pretty flashing blue lights behind you. be careful out there because the police are undercover in more vehicles than just school buses and taxes.

    Next time...
Simply have an "un-marked" driving in the front-pilot "position" ahead of the bus.. such that when the bus "stops" - the lead-pilot car can slow and crawl until about 50 - 100 yards further on .. after the bus stops, as that way - the cop in the bus only has to give the "lead" driver the two-way call, and that officer in the lead-car thus has a "free-run" at the speedster, because he's already ahead of the bus, and slowly moving .. thus an acceleration is all he needs to be "up-to' chase speed, by the time the illegal bus-passer get to them..

I watched a pick up truck pass a stopped school bus once and almost hit the kids who had just gotten off. They were walking oblivious and were going to cross the street in front of the bus. The kids never saw it coming but the bus driver and I did. We both laid on laid on our horns. The kids heard it and stopped quick but the driver never slowed or looked back in his mirror. Angels and miracles worked together that day.

  • @wessnyder117

The question about the cussing was rhetorical. Whenever police are used in this situation then there a couple of reasons as to why: 1) Parents of theses kids are probably calling about the way some drivers are around the buses during unloading/loading of students.
    2) It is probably, also, due to some cases of accidents involving children leaving the bus.

@NeOGlock They do. On most buses in my county there are two night-vision cameras mounted under the stop sign facing the back and front and when the 8-ways are activated they snap a picture when motion is detected. But the citation has to be made up manually- they haven't automated that yet! :)

Bottom line, there are children. Here is AZ the drivers I have seen, put on their flashing lights then stop the bus then put out the flashing stop sign. There is a good 15 seconds or longer for all this to happen. Nobody should be slamming on their brakes or not failing to stop. Also some of our buses have a park-brake feature which disables the air brake knob( I'll be happy to do a video demonstration If you like) so the kids can't move it. I can understand your worries but everybody is safe.

$500 and you caught 3 out of 11... sounds like you should increase the ticket.

Make it mandatory for all school busses across the country (both U.S & Canada) to have HD cameras on the front and rear of the bus that activate the moment driver activates the flashing lights warning motorists that the bus is about to stop. Then any footage of violators can be sent off to traffic enforcement and dealt with properly.

wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait I explained it before if a bus stops in a four-lane Street and it's on the right side. the drivers in the left lane shouldn't have to stop

Eleven vehicles passing a school bus with its stop arm extended within 30 minutes could indicate a problem.

I'm not denying they have reason to do it, clearly with " I believe in few cases this is needed". So, what are you getting on about? My problem is with this local police force abusing their power, and not giving people a fair chance. Again, at a stop light you have at least 3 seconds when it's yellow, and 15-30 feet of a clearance. They clearly did not give that to all these drivers. It would be stupid to think that means though that there aren't any lunatic drivers who need stopped. Derp.

Ticketing drivers that pass the bus while the bus is in the act of stopping is ridiculous. There has to be a buffer in place somewhere. It would be the same as having street lights go from green straight to red, and ticketing those motorists that refuse to lock up their brakes to stop. However, the yellow is added as a grey area for those too close to the intersection. Same should be implemented for school buses. This video is just showing how police exploit a school buses deficiency.

MY SUGGESTION PUT LOWER RAILROAD CROSSING BOARD WITH Stop Sign ATTACHED IN MIDDLE.JUST LONG ENOUGH TO STOP THEM INSTEAD OF FRONT Of Bus PLACE ONE NEAR REAR AND FRONT !!!!!!!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗

Every bus should have photo cameras like the once they have at the street lights. If they can catch people at a red light and build him a ticket I’m pretty sure they can manage to put one on schoolbuses

Instead of riding along on the bus, the officer should've been following behind in an unmarked cruiser. None of them would've gotten away....
