  • Another series of race cars never seen again, but with Gran Turismo 2. This list will cover 7 cars like with the last one, so don't expect everything right away. Gran Turismo 2 had a lot of content never seen again, so I definitely have a lot to work with here. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this.
My video playlist on these kind of videos if you want to see more.
    • Cars Never Seen Again ...
    Notes:
    - I was a bit excited to talk about the Saleen SR in this video. Mainly because not only was this never seen again, but I haven't seen it in any other racing game period except for Midnight Club 3. Amazing, the only 2 racing games to have this ALMS racer were GT2 and MC3.
    - I'm happy to report that the Elise GT1 at least found new love in the recent Forza games. It was one of my favorite DLC cars in FM7.
    - The XJ220 RM's exact origins were a bit tough to find. I could find pictures of the car itself in action, but little info on that exact livery. Yes, there's mentions of the TWR XJ220s competing in the FIA GT Championship including the 24 hours of LeMans, but that was a different XJ220 race car.
    - If PD brings back the XJ220 LM in GT7, we could finally replicate this original livery if we wanted to.
    - I almost included the Lister Storm RM in this list, but then I remembered it being in every GT title between 3 & 6.
    - It is odd on how GT2 had so many race cars licensed to just never be used again. I mean, a lot of RMs and race cars did come back in GT3 & 4, but there were still many that were flat-out dropped.
    Songs Used:
Isamu Ohira - The Motorious Zone (GT2 Version)
Gran Turismo 2 OST - Call of the Wild
Isamu Ohira - Light Velocity V2 (Gran Turismo 4 Soundtrack)

I think it makes sense that a lot of stuff was dropped in the transition between GT2 and 3, or specifically the transition in hardware between PS1 and PS2. Especially considering how little content GT3 had, similar to how Sport ended up dropping a lot of content later on. With GT7 revisiting a bunch of the popular race cars from the older games, hopefully we'll see some of the cars that never left GT2.
Awesome video, can't wait to see the Espace later on!

I'm well aware that PD had to drop cars for GT3 on those reasons, but I was also thinking about Gran Turismo 4. When PD was able to go ham with the content, they had an opportunity to bring most of those race cars back, but didn't.
I honestly still think it has more to do with other factors like focusing on newer cars in general or historic cars that were more successful.

@@RandomCarGuy17 I think it's both, especially considering age and success didn't seem to be a factor for which standard cars they ported over to GT5 and 6. I imagine if the graphical upgrade wasn't as big and they could have effectively ported the cars from GT2 to 3 we'd see almost all the cars return, but since they all had to be built from the ground up PD would have had to decide what cars would be notable enough to add.

The New Beetle Cup cars are no joke, especially the later RSI models. Those suckers were pushing easily past 300 horsepower with AWD and 6 speed manuals with gutted interiors and all. If Nissan still stores 1998 Pennzoil R33 well, Polyphony should get it and 2003 R34 GT500 to 7 instead of updating 1999 Pennzoil R34. Why would you want another classic if you have no intent to bring NSX and complete the trio of different eras?

    • @RandomCarGuy17
      @RandomCarGuy17  Před 2 lety +2

Okay, I agree with you to an extent. I find it odd that they made a premium R34 GT500 race car from 1999 go against a Castrol Supra from 1997. a R33 GT500 would've made more sense or a 2000 GT500 Supra in place of the 1997 one. However, I disagree with you on saying the 1998 and 2003 GT500s should replace the 1999 one on the count I like the 1999 car. Why not all 3 huh?
With that said, it looks more like they were looking back at signature cars known in their past games versus thinking about race car classes. I think you're jumping the gun too early on the NSX not being in the game. There's still cars left to be revealed, we don't know the full car list yet.

For the 911 GT1, I don't think it's very likely since we already saw the 911 GT1 Strassenversion in the first trailer. I don't see PD adding 2 911 GT1s and if they did, I think they would more likely add the older GT1 based on the 993 Porsche 911.
As for the other 3, yes. I think they could, not fully sure if they would all appear at launch. but most definitely as dlc. We're just going to have to wait for more content to be revealed.

Right now, it's just a matter of picking and choosing which I'll include in a video at a time. I don't want to put a pack of Vipers in one video for instance as I want there to be variety.

@@muhammadrizkisatria5059 Sorry to say, but I don't think it is. Just to remind you, not all race cars are "racing modifications". The racing modification is a feature for road cars in GT1 & 2. The chamberlain engineering nspired Viper GTS RM in GT1 & 2 would be a racing modification, but the 1997 & 1999 Viper GTS-Rs are full-on race cars.
The Viper has 2 racing modifications, 1 for the GTS and 1 for the RT/10. In which, the Chevrolet Camaro has it beat with 3 Racing Mods for the 1997 cars (Z/28, Z/28 30th Anniversary Edition, & SS) and 1 for the 1969 Z/28. The Ford Mustangs have 2 Racing Modifications with the 1998 & 1999 SVT Cobras, matching the Vipers. If you were to count the Shelby GT350's RM (based on the 1965 GT350R), that would make 3 Mustang RMs in the game.
