    Thank you!!! I’m a black Latina and I learned this technique long time ago. In my native tropical island we take a lot of pride in our hair and washing it everyday was and is a “no,no”. I’m glad that women (especially Caucasian) are doing this now without judging. You don’t know how many times I have to explain, why I don’t wash my hair everyday and the look that I get from some ladies.😂

      I don't wash my hair everyday too. Which where I live is a standard. Growing up i was very lazy when it came to my hair, so I only washed it once a week. Then as I started to care more about my hair, I started splurging on professional shampoos and noticed my hair wouldn't get oily throughout the school week and on weekends it was dry shampoo and updos until I washed it on Sunday.
      But here the norm is to wash your hair everyday and I get a lot of dirty looks when I say I only wash mine once a week. I just don't need to wash it more often. I think that comes because a lot of women here are not taught properly how to take care of their hair and use drugstore shampoos.

      There is genuinely nothing wrong with washing your hair daily depending on your hair type. If your hair gets oily just wash it. What he’s talking about is an old myth that no derm would say is right atp

    • @lailanitukuafu
      @lailanitukuafu Před 7 měsíci +7

      @@LPempty If you ever end up reading this reply, I'm just curious, what are your sources? And also are you, yourself, a dermatologist? And lastly, have you actually tried out his advice? I'm more inclined to believe this guy because he works professionally in hair care and has worked with hundreds, thousands, maybe tens of thousands of people in his salon, who have a variety of hair types and lifestyles. It's reasonable to assume he knows what works for people and what doesn't.
      And the logic of going a few days between washes is sound. The best thing about it is that you don't have to spend nearly as much time and resources on your hair. I, personally, don't have time to wash and style my hair every single day. If you want to do that, yeah there's nothing stopping you. But it's not exactly the best option. Shampoo is literally built to strip your scalp of oils so if you wash very often, your scalp will get used to being regularly dried out like that and it will compensate by getting oily faster to match that. The result is that you spend more time and money creating a daily problem that you then use lots of product to solve. There's no point to it. Your hair will be much less stable, get dry really fast, and get greasy really fast. It's harder to get it to consistently look and feel good.
      The modern world is great and all, but there's a reason why for thousands of years, people (even high-class people) didn't wash their hair every day. Your hair stays nice and clean for longer and you don't have to use as much product or time to keep it that way. I'd be interested to see you prove me wrong.

      I imagine you’d have to wash your hair everyday if your wearing a helmet for a long time and also if you have a job where you’re getting dirty.
      As much as you can masking sure your helmets clean and shampoo and condition every day. If you want to style your hair everyday I’d focus on mainly heat less styles that you can set in your hair the night before. Just make sure your hair isn’t too wet when you put your hair into the heatless styler or it usually won’t dry by morning. More damp than wet works best.

      Totally can relate!
      I don't see other way as washing the hair more often, or at least I haven't found a way, but in that case also use a very mild shampoo and wash once (BP advocates for washing twice, but I think it makes sense only only when you're extending the time between the washes)
      If the hair gets sweaty ane dirty, and I mean the dirt not just from the naturally oily scalp but generally, for me it was also many many floorwork routines, basically polishing the floor with sweaty hair😅.
      So yeah, I haven't found a way to extend the washes beyond every other day.
      Now I don't practice to that degree anymore, and it's waaaaaay different to not be dripping sweat on a daily basis.
      Way, way, different. Hair, skin, make up (I can actually wear make up now), the whole routine/care is different.
      Most of the tips out there simply don't work if one works out daily, many hours a day, starting from the morning and continuing at various intervals throughout the whole day. I guess at some point, you just learn to just live in in your own sweat and dirt 😅.

    My hair was always straight, thick and healthy. It was often quite long and I color it regularly. I remember washing it every night. I always enjoyed the feeling of freshly washed hair. It didn't seem to ever interfere with the health of my hair in any way, at least not according to my stylist, several of them in fact. I few years ago I started going through menopause and my hair was suddenly curly/wavy. I have gradually settled into washing twice a week (maybe 3 times on occasion). It is more out of laziness and now that I am retired I don't need to style as much more than anything else. I would still wash my hair every night if it were as easy to take care of as when it was straight but now I don't mind going a few days in between.

If I have to, I’ll use a healthy dry shampoo. Works good for me. I’ve got my hair used to it. If you’re washing everyday or often, you’re removing the natural oils and your hair will over compensate by producing more. I used to wash every other day, years ago. Sometimes I will rinse my hair. This is really great! My only problem with this technique is that a week has 7 days. So I guess for the huge majority of people, the days when they work out and what type of sports they practice is heavily dependent on which day of the week it is, and that means necessarily splitting your week into 3 days + 4 days... I try to make Sunday my big workout + wash day but the rest of the week isn't so easy to plan, especially when I have other constraints that decide for me when I can do which type of sports. Some sports are really terrible for your hair, too (ice skating for example).
    I also find, unfortunately, that tying my hair in a ponytail like this, will often ruin my hair because the very fact of tying it means it will take the shape of the elastic, which will most probably ruin the curls (if I opted for curls that week). And there's also the fact that I like cycling to work, but that means wearing a helmet AND sweating in it, which is often pretty terrible for the hair (and worse if it's raining).

For a long time I've just come home, put the dryer on low, and run a bit of heat through my roots to dry them, then used a dry shampoo in the morning before work and "reshape" with a flat iron.

      Cardio-rest-sweat is just not serious workout. How about those people who train for marathon, mountain climbing etc.? I'm a runner. When I run the sweat is just coming like a watterfall, there's no way I could wash my hair only twice a week. It just looks dirty/oily.

    • @joane24
      @joane24 Před rokem

      In my opinion and observation, and I'm no expert, but blow drying sweaty hair is not the best. I noticed the sweat actually dries up the hair, so there's no way I'm gonna exacerbate the process by blow drying. I mean I did that sometimes with the fringe after a class/rehearsal (used to be a dancer), and it ended up looking awful (matted and lifeless) and not fresh anyway.
      I don't see other way as washing the hair more often, or at least I haven't found a way, but in that case also use a very mild shampoo and wash once (BP advocates for washing twice, but I think it makes sense only only when you're extending the time between the washes)
      If the hair gets sweaty ane dirty, and I mean the dirt not just from the naturally oily scalp but generally, for example as a dancer there was many floorwork routines, stretching on the floor, so basically you're polishing the floor with your sweaty hair😅.
      So yeah, I haven't found a way to extend the washes beyond every other day.
      Now I don't practice to that degree anymore, and it's waaaaaay different to not be dripping sweat on a daily basis.
      Way, way, different.
      Hair, skin, make up (I can actually wear make up now), the whole routine is different.
      Most of the tips simply don't work if you work out daily, many hours a day, starting from the morning and continuing at various intervals throughout the whole day. At some point, you learn to just live in in your own sweat and dirt 😅.

I havent tried it myself but I definitely recommend it for after the workout. I like dry shampooing after my shower though. I also recommend styling your hair with a bandana, silk scarf, or something of that nature to help cover roots on day two or three. Not an expert but I don't let 'professionals' touch my hair. I would go to Chris though.

    • @joane24
      @joane24 Před rokem

      If washing hair frequently, use a mild shampoo, like without sls, and wash it once only. Washing often with harsher shampoo makes the scalp oilier (first dry and then more oily to compensate, and also irritated, and might be itchy). If you'd wash your hair not often, then it's ok to use less mild shampoo and wash it twice, but if you have to wash it often, use something mild. Shampoo type is for scalp, conditioner is for hair. I would also concentrate on getting moisture and oil to the ends, so apart from the conditioner also a leave in conditioner/oil product.
      (Used to be a ballet dancer, so I get the struggle)

    On mondays I have upper body weight training+ cardio day. This is when I will wash it from all the dirt from the weekend + cardio.
    Then, on tuesday, I do krav maga+leg day weight training.
    On wednesdays, rest day
    On thursdays things start to get messier: krav maga+upper body weight training+cardio day (and I will probably need a dry shampoo)
    On fridays: ballet class+upper body weight training+cardio day - And then, Finally, I will wash it again.
    Saturday is another leg day and sunday another rest day.
    As you can see, I exercise a lot, I wear tape hair extensions, colored hair, and I (almost) always curl my hair with flat iron
    so I needed to reeeeeeeeeeeeally be organized with my schedule.

After watching his tips and applying them, I saw a difference in the condition of my hair within 2 weeks. Now, about 1 1/2 months later my hair is longer and stronger with minimal changes in my routine. I'd love to go back to bangs (being mature it hides a multitude of sins and makes a face look younger). It's just too much upkeep. It's so much easier to throw my hair in a ponytail or bun on day 3 hair until I wash it. It was so so upkeep and not good for my hair washing every other day. Dry shampoo just makes my scalp and the oils feel worse, not better. If there was an actual dry shampoo that helped clean the hair (break down and dry up the oils) I'd be on board with it. He should come out with his own hair care line. I bet he's working on it.

      I wash just my bangs. Everyday. I can’t go more than one day or they just feel gross and look gross. I think it changes the entire look of my hair by just having clean bangs. Depending on what you find easier I will either leave just my bangs out of my shower cap when I take a shower and wash them in the shower- this can take a little getting used to and usually get a little of the hair around your ears wet that you will have to restyle- or I will just wash them in the sink. A tiny drop of shampoo and rinse under the faucet. Changed everything.
      And I hate dry shampoo in my bangs. I find that since they get trimmed frequently enough they can handle they restyling and washing daily. For reference I have color treated hair and get my bangs trimmed every 4-8 weeks depending on how short we went and how lazy I’m being about going in for a bang trim. At 8 weeks they are usually hanging my eyelashes and driving me mad and I’m eyeballing the scissors.

    I've been watching all of your videos and love the strategy behind your healthy routine! I actually already had most of the products you recommend, but I was using them differently or in combination with other products that probably weren't necessary. Now I'm following your recommendations and it's been going great for the past couple of weeks!! My struggle is with achieving three days between washes AND maintaining my workout routine. It's no problem at all if I don't work out. Three days, easy. But add a workout on the second day plus a shower... hair is ruined! The headband makes it a million times worse! And the shower cap only helps the tiniest bit. Previously, I wasn't even taking a full shower. I would simply dip into a bath for a quick body wash and the steam impact was significantly less. These tips don't work as well for someone with thin or fine hair, and I'd LOVE any suggestions for that hair type. For me, the combo of thin hair with a very sweaty head while working out, leaving me stuck choosing between valuing my hair versus my body, and it's been a life log struggle. Inevitably, I wash my hair after every workout (unless it's a day when no one will see me and I'm willing to tolerate gross hair for one more day)...

Loving the results of following your trifecta, however this just can’t apply to everyone. If Florida suddenly didn’t have air conditioning, what would you suggest?
