As someone who played Lego Batman as a kid, the soundtrack was legendary, and it got me to watch this movie for the first time last year, and it was amazing.
I first saw this movie, before I played Lego Batman the 🎮 as I overheard the same composer as Danny Elfman and Batman the ride at six flags magic mountain.
I always wondered if he recognized him at Axis Chemicals. I just assumed that's why he dropped him into the chemicals. in a strange way, Bruce Wayne, the billionaire playboy/ generous philanthropist is for the world to see. Batman is who he really is at heart. when Batman showed up taking away Joker's poisonous ballons and fighting his men, that night was all about vengeance, not being the protector of Gotham. I don't care what anyone says. Michael Keaton is the best Batman. this film is a masterpiece.
During the Ace Chemicals scene Batman only knows that Jack Napier is Carl Grissom’s right hand man. He drops him simply because he lost his grip. If his intention was to kill him he wouldn’t have tried to grab for him in the first place. Another intriguing thing is The Joker knew who Batman was the whole time. In their final confrontation on the cathedral rooftop Batman says “You killed my parents I made you, you made me first” and Joker says “What? …I was a kid when I killed your parents”meaning that He knew Batman was Bruce Wayne.
@@BuzbyGaming it could be seen that way but I always assumed that was just Joker stalling for time; think of how many people hes killed over the years, you think hes gonna remember some family even one as wealthy as the Waynes? or that their son survived? earlier in the film hes shown on two occasions to not even really know who bruce is at all; when Bob brings him up as Vickis date (some guy named Wayne) and when they come into contact at Vickis apartment (Bruce... this is the moment where Bruce Wayne snaps; before this point he hadn't killed anyone but that second that Bruce knew who Joker really is... from that moment onwards all bets are off and Batman starts killing goons and the Joker in cold blood
I think deep down he knew who the guy was after he heard the name 'Jack Napier'. Joker seems to remember the mugging during their final battle. It just took those few words to bring out that suppressed memory.
@@seijakarjalainen if he knew his parents killer was Jack Napier he would've killed him at Axis Chemicals; you see it in Bruces face when Joker utters that "dance with the Devil" line to him... all the pieces clicked in that moment for him which is also why we get the flashback to his parents murder while hes staring at video of the Joker
I don't know if this scene telegraphs that Bruce Wayne has decided to *kill* Joker/Jack Napier. At the end of the film, he holds onto the flailing Joker's arm for more than just a passing second. His initial or usual instinct would be to pull him up per his "no kill" rule (In Nolan's Batman, Joker literally is left (alive) flailing from a building). In Burton's ending, I'd say Bruce Wayne/Batman truly does ponder for a moment or two whether he should save him or not. Regardless, it's a great scene because its so unique in the whole "Batman universe" because it involves Bruce--not as Batman--actually face-to-face quarreling with the bad guys. The public distinction between Bruce & Batman is *usually* black & white. The closest other episode I could think of would also be from Nolan's TDK at the cocktail party for Harvey Dent. However, Bruce intentionally avoids confronting Joker--albeit acting out of (public) character for Bruce when disarms one of the henchmen with a quick move of his hands.

The Joker playing dumb Or was legit confused the dude was just gut punched and thrown through a wall. But Just before getting punched off the ledge he says. “I was a kid when I killed your parents… You wouldn’t hit a guy with glasses would ya?”
He wanted the Joker to know why Batman, not Bruce Wayne existed. The Joker wasn't surprised by the truth because he knows he did kill alot of innocent people prior to becoming the Joker.
It's awesome and sets the bar for Batman imo. I hope maybe since DC now has a multiverse after beetlejuice we can get the two of them to make a 3rd movie in the Burtonverse.
In my opinion, what bruce wayne was doing here was that he realized that he would be fighting the joker as batman and had to portray himself in such a way that the joker could never connect that they were the same person. All his actions here are for the future.
Later at the cathedral when Batman says “You killed my parents” the joker said “I was a kid when I killed your parents” so The Joker likely knew he was Batman for sometime before hand or realize it then and there at the Cathedral rooftop. Either way Joker didn’t seem to care and Batman didn’t seem too worried about it at that point either. But I like your idea. Bruce has always been a strategist.
I like how in this Michael Keaton does his Beetlejuice voice when he yells and breaks that thing it’s nice looking forward to the new Beetlejuice and like I keep saying I keep praying that Warner Brothers will let Michael Keaton play Batman one more time but at least if not, he will be iconic for the room, but we’ll see what happens
Yeah Keaton was the best part of the movie. Him coming back was the only reason I bought a ticket... Just sucks that the only parts worth watching was the parts he was in.
I was always pretty sure he was telling the truth about Alicia. He disfigured her deliberately and she couldn't live with herself not being beautiful any more. That was a classic Joker move.
Agreed, But also a big Joker move would be to kill her and tell people she did it to herself… and giggle because only you know the truth. Mine was just an opinion. Thats what I love about Tim Burton he gives you enough to assume what you want… but both outcomes are true to the character.
Ah. Technically, Batman isn’t normal. Imagine if Batman did away with his morality and became a violent psychotic vigilante. Wait. Has he ever been push to that. 😮

It was poetic for them to have created each other then be destined to destroy each other. However I always prefer The Joker to not have a “Real Name” and just be that opposite force to Batman.
Vale finally realized he was Batman after he tried to tell her, as well as, how he faked his death and ninja'd his way out of her apartment. That was important.
This scene sets up all the pieces to push into the ending of the movie.
