why does Uncle Roger disguise himself as Nigel Ng to do standup comedy?
I came wondering the same thing!
hahaha it's the other way around!
@@folknarongrit thx -_-
@@folknarongrit r/woooosh
It's his nephew Nigel.
Uncle Roger’s egg fried rice takeaway must be called “Send Me a MSG”
Underrated comment is underrated
🤣🤣🤣
That’s awesome!
Soooo underrated 😂😂😂😂
« MSG in a bottle »
He barely lasted 2 minutes, thats why Auntie Helen left.
HAIYYYAAA
He could have lasted longer if they gave him a longer time slot. He deserved more time on stage. He's world famous now !
The problem is not how much time he was given, but that he ends his set in middle of a bit.
If you could last two minutes auntie Helen would’ve stayed
Auntie Helen never existed
I thought Uncle Roger was really just who he was. Hes still funny, but I'm processing things right now.
Hiyyyaaaa. Nephew Nigel is not so bad.
He is the nephew of Uncle Roger
I understand, I felt the same way about Mr. Miyagi
He created uncle roger persona in response of bbc egg fried rice recipe but people like it so he kees doing it now
This one is better than uncle Roger. I enjoyed all of his videos before people know him as uncle Roger.
"Hard Wok Café" is pretty good. I hope there's a real one.
There's one in Liverpool city centre lol
@@danmccauley80 they have the best fly lice
Lol
The moment Blackpink's 'How You like that' was played as the BGM LOL
Somehow BlackPink and BTS songs are everywhere now
@@JasperLTZ you forget bang bang bang..
@@aaroncross1801 Yeah, that doesn't get played as much as BTS or Blackpink, though... BangBangBang plays more in Korea, I feel.
@@JasperLTZ That's a good thing. :)
Haiyaaaa... So stereotypical....
Nigel, you are so right about these punning Chinese restaurant names! I live in Edinburgh, and there’s a Chinese restaurant near me by the name of “Wok Ness”, with a picture of the Loch Ness Monster disguised as a Chinese dragon 🐉. 🏴 I visited Jerusalem a couple of years ago, and it occurred to me that you could have a Chinese kosher restaurant there (they do exist btw) called the Ho Lee Lan (Holy Land, geddit?)
Wowwww. I like the name ho Lee lan
Haha Wok ness is a good one
much better than WOKENESS
That phenomenon occurs in the US as well but is regionally dependent. For example, I live in NYC. Here all Chinese restaurants have Mandarin or Cantonese names, most don't even have English characters on their signs. I travel for work occasionally throughout the mainland. There are some hysterical restaurant names in the areas with very few Chinese people. Especially the midwest and south. Some of my favorites that I have seen were No Mo Tofu, Chow and Maine, King of Chongqing, Humpty Dumplings, Kung Food, and my personal all time favorite, Phat Dong. If you were to get take away from Phat Dong, the containers all say "It really fills you up!" on the side.
*Edited to correct spelling error
@@user-ci9cg7ys1j I don't think that's actually a name.
I can't think of anything in Chinese that could match the pronunciation
I got his point about names in former British colonies. When I was training in Japan, I met a lot of "Wilson"s from HK
Wilson is definitely a popular name here in Hong Kong and we actually considered it a rather modern one.....
Yep. My cousin's name is Wilson.
@@silverstar501 modern cuz it's English that's all 😂
I know a Charlemagne from HK
@@vendock That's some "Old-English-Lets-Free-The-Holy-Land" name
As a Malaysian I am so proud of him. So true about English names. Really like his shows. Great job man! ☺

He went too soft with the audience. I watched his old stand up, he roasted everybody.
he only had 3 minutes, he needed his pre-screened materials, not too much crowd work.
One word snowflakes.
Yea. His Singapore stand-up roasted so hard and that's so freaky brilliant and hilarious XD
He probably got traumatized by roasting a wrong person
True
He talks about British restaurants making Chinese food but that Malaysian chef he interviewed once, making Pasta and Paella was just as funny 😂
It's like he's from Malaysia, lives in the UK and sounds like he has an American accent all combine into one.. lol
He has American accent? Lol

I kinda like how Singaporeans and Malaysians have British names tho. It's unique and reflects the multi-ethnic culture of the region.
Uncle Roger must be proud of him. Nigel will grow up to be a great comedians, just like his uncle

its not that funny imo but ok

They don't just left us with just old English names, they left us with names so hard to pronounce!
I got a friend named Wilfred. He can't pronounce his name. His parents can't pronounce his name either. All day running around Wheel-flayed! Wheel-flayed!
LOL
How on Earth do you give your children a name you can't pronounce? At least you do the pronunciation, doesn't matter if the pronunciation is actually right or wrong.
@@brightiris like how Elon Musk pronounces his youngest baby's name ? XD
Hilarious if true!
RM SJ SG JH JM KT JK One and the only way I know is this. My parents know how to spell my English name (Edward) but when they pronounce it, it’s (Ehwok) for them.
They know it’s wrong, but the point of being inconvenience is far too great to give a damn for them.
Thaitanic and Bow Thai were once restaurants in Sydney, Australia.
No Asian cuisine is safe from the puns. Worst is the Vietnamese ones with some stupid varient of Pho directed at westerners who don't know the correct pronounciation of Pho
LOL
Did that first one go under?
There's a Thai Tanic in Belfast which makes a bit more sense than Sydney, because where the Titanic was built. :p
@@jazzycat8917 that's Pho sho 😜
"Nigel Ng, ladies and gentlemen. The next comic is someone I'm sure you all know. give applause to Uncle Roger!"

Singaporean Basil here mate LOL
james from australia living in finland. :( this is no joke.
@Justin Trudeau former British colonies...
@Justin Trudeau you lack spice bruh.
Oh my God..... This is so weird. Lol.... Basil is a very old traditional name. Lol... It's very true what he said. And in the UK, most parents won't name their kids those names any more, but instead, they go for more American names instead. Which is even more weird... Most names are also not Christian names either any more.
Lmao
The lack of of spices does it for me
I love how he chooses topics that have a very bloody and violent history intentionally, presenting them satirically is an art. English school curriculums (from what I remember) gloss over the harsh realities of Colonialism. Comedy is nice way for people to be introduced to the horrors their ancestors committed - you can hear how uncomfortable the laughter was when he made that comment about spices. Although, I agree with a few of the other comments. He really held back this time, I wish he hadn't done that lol
Harsh realities of colonialism? Try telling that to Hong Kong
@4th Chairman he didn't even mention any brutalities of colonialism, he literally just mentioned colonialism and people were uncomfortable
they dont gloss over it
A bit safe, seems like he’s holding back.
He only had 3 minutes, so he didn't get nearly as much time as on other stand up shows. He probably would have roasted harder with more time, I think.
Ya, maximum funny in short time. 3 Minutes, la.
as an asian harold I feel called out
As a malaysian with a completely white name... well i dont know what other name i would like so im happy with what i have
He’s like Graham Fellows. A very funny man who, as with John Shuttleworth, will always be overshadowed by his awesome comedy character.
I remember seeing this and hearing BlackPink, so I watched this segment and loved it.😂😅 Nigel Ng is now my favourite comedian.😂😅
Since I been listening to his podcast. I think Nigel is one of the funniest comedians out there!!
What’s the name of his podcast?
@@smaxo9368 he was doing a podcast with fellow comedian Evelyn called ‘rice to meet you’. But that’s on hiatus atm but he’s recently started a new one called haiya I think. Can be found on his CZcams channel. But not got into that yet!
He needs to do some 'uncle roger' stand up.
the names, the names is cracking me up! the old British butler names…
Wait...butler names...it kinda makes sense...
I’ve met quite a few Asian _Walters._ 😳
Lol
At least in this one he's not just doing all the jokes he does as Uncle Roger but in standup format.
imagine being that dj though, presses play to one track all night at the start and end of a comedians set ... rip
I seen Nigel in dublin live and he tore us irish a new one when it came to our irish "chinese" food

As a Canadian of Asian descent, this makes me feel funky.
"Naan of your business" xD

Ah that was too short, good stuff Nigel! From Gary
Pretty sure it's from Steve. He told me it was.
Nigel/uncle Rodger is an original love his humour
Nigel is top notch!
as malaysian ,I recognize his eng-chinese slang same as malaysian engchinese slang at couple of second of his weijo
"Who is ordering these?"
Children.
No lie I once went into a Chinese restaurant and saw a woman come in with her two kids, BOTH kids ordered chicken nuggets and chips (fries).
So excited to see him now .. love uncle roger mostly though
For someone who stayed in Singapore for eight years I can totally relate to this!

Damn those are old school british names.
He is funny. Love uncle roger
Nicely done Nigel!
From one Ng to another this one hit the spot for me 😂
And you also have a nice Anglo first name just like Nigel😄
*Ricely
If NGL is not gonna lie, NG is just not gonna?
All this time I thought Nigel doing uncle roger was his actual accent woww
Ya'll literally had the chance to play Feel Special by TWICE when he walked in and didn't 💀🤯😂😂
Why would you want to play that when you can have Blackpink?
@@mochichichi2458 if you listen to his podcasts (Rice to meet you) with Evelyn Mok you'll understand why.... Its like his go to song😅 he uses it as a sound effect.
@@mochichichi2458 Please don't get me wrong, I love Blackpink as well. I was just referencing to his podcast.
There's a curry house called "Tikka to Ride", a chippie called "Rock and Roe" and a hair dressers called "Curl up & Dye" near me. There's also a 2nd hand record shop in London called "The Vinyl Solution" yet, all these pun-names pale in comparison to the shop in Dublin that exculively sells front door embellishments - "Knobs & Knockers".
Very funny and straight to the point!
Naan of your business. Love it.
lmao i knew this was going to go hard when he said all he wanted to do was just drink tap water

Uncle Roger!!! Aiyyaahhhh!😂😂😂
Basil Wang 😂😂😂
I feel like British people sometimes laugh out of nervousness when they get roasted by comedians because they want to like laugh at themselves to ease tension, but I think sometimes the nervous laughing causes some jokes to just go r/whoosh which doesn't make them sit and think on it afterwards. Not all the time but sometimes.. Love Nigel's standup, feel like he could have gone even harder on em hahahaha
Another who doesn't understand why generalisations like that sound so childish.
Foreign comedians on British stages often pick the same dialogue.. maybe they're laughing out of politeness like when a 5yr old tells you the same joke for the 500th time? There's a reason the Brits have the best comedians in the world, their humour is very diverse.
I think it's because we're so used to hearing the same old shit about us from foreign comedians. Bad teeth, bad food, bad weather. It gets a bit boring after the 10th time some random immigrant pulls it but we're also expected to laugh out of politeness at the unoriginal 'comedy'.
He's a philosopher afterall
Oh no it was too short haha I was hoping it would be longer lol
😄😄😄😄 LOOOLLLL!! The crowed was tough though!!
The names thing… lol. That’s why I named my shih tzu puppy Stanley. 🤣
Nephew Nigel is killin' it.

The beauty of British women and the quality of their cuisine made the British the best sailors in the world.
Nigel is a great name, especially for a comedy career, it reminds me of the movie Top Secret with Val Kilmer, hilarious! In America that is a sexy name because you don't encounter it often. Please come do stand-up in America!!! There is plenty to make fun of here and we like getting roasted. We have a good sense of humor. We would love you here.
Where is the Malaysian accent !? OMG !! I like him even more now LOL
