@@thejuicyorange8526 I agree, tho the damage is kinda fun, and would make ATS (and ETS2 ofc) that lil bit more immersive to me. @@hezvandermeij or even have the dent physics and wear/maintenance mechanics from My Summer Car, where if you hit something, you actually have a permanent dent there, which can ever change size and shape, depending on what you hit and at what speed. You can also see when a headlight bulb is blown, and if your engine throws a rod, you will have an actual hole in your oil pan, and actually lose all your oil. If you don't change your oil, you will suffer from major mechanical damage, if your valves are misadjusted, the engine will missfire, pop back in the intake and run like junk. I find it quite disappointing that no other game devs have implemented hyperrealistic maintenance, damage and repair physics yet, as MSC truly shows the potential of such systems, and it would be quite realistic to have a rusty used truck fail inspection because the frame is rusted out, to break down with a leaking injector causing the engine to miss on 1 cylinder, have reduced power and smoke out the exhaust, to get a nail in a trailer tire or to have a rustbucket car drop a muffler, and if you run it over, it destroys your oil pan, giving you an oil pressure warning and 10 seconds to shut the engine off or you get a rod knock. Or if you leave the lights on when entering a ferry or resting, your battery will be dead leaving you stranded and you need to call a wrecker and get towed. You know, the sort of stupid stuff most irl trucks (and truckers) eventually suffer from at some point in their lives.

The agenda for both the games are entirely different...
American Truck focuses on map expansions and long haul, and hence dedicate more time to develop maps, with basic required physics.
Snow Runner on off-road haul, with limited map and focus more on physics for more off-roady experience.

This video is same when you comparing coffee with juice.
ATS is focusing on long - drives, map expansion and basic physics. You wont often be on off-road, unless its start/end of your journey. Its trucker simulator, that again, focuses on map expansion and basic physics because they are not needed. You will ride on quality, flat road.
SnowRunner is just off-road simulator, that of course focuses more on realism than small things like in ATS, for example, interior. Your orders will always be on off road. You don't need that interior or multiple - function screen on small or medium amount of distance.
So, ATS - trucker simulator, long distance, basic physics, small but interesting features like functional screen.
SnowRunner - off road simulator, small - medium distance, improved physics, and GOOD customisation of truck (almost same like in ETS2!).
    But anyways, video is good!

gotta remember that snowrunner doesn't have manual transmission (at all!) and you need to force it to 900° of rotation on the wheel because by default it's (if I remember correctly) 480°, and all vehicles feel like they are sliding on ice when on the pavement.
I love snowrunner but not on a wheel setup, one of the reasons I barely play it and sometimes am quite sad that I bought it over mudrunner. ATS is an older, tired game engine and in dire need of upgraded graphics and physics. It’s really showing it’s age now. The SCS dev’s keep promising as such, but instead of being focused on maps instead of the game mechanics themselves this is what we’re left with in ATS.

Let's not forget that SCS has a license agreement with Western Star and also given complete tech specs/blueprints of the truck. They got to release the virtual truck the same day as the real truck release. Reality is you wouldn't be driving that Western Star in those horrific off road scenarios period. It was designed as a modern cross country road truck. Not off roading in mud and rocks which in real life would probably get stuck almost immediately.

In resume, ATS needs to improve drastically in physics and damage simulation. Physics could be upgraded with mods, there's actually one and works pretty good.
In damage simulation, ATS has a weak point. It is pretty frustrating that the vehicle remains pristine while you crash but the mechanical damage is present. How on earth?! Feels empty, awkward or weird.
I am not asking that you can make you truck blow up but aesthetical damage is needed. Just like other car simulators like Forza Horizon, NFS Heat or Snow Runner.

With a mixture of both games audio with more realistic truck audio, if not just out right real truck audio. i guess that would have to be mod only though. i want ATS to have more SnowRunner type jobs terrain wise, (offroad logging), but still keep ATS control. SnowRunner physics, but ATS control. i use keyboard and mouse with ATS and Xbox controller with SnowRunner. you can tell SnowRunner is a "game" vs ATS being a "simulator" so since i dont have a sim rig keyboard feels better with ATS.
