great job bro. I enjoy watching these drywall videos more and more. Keep up the great content.
Thank you so much for love and support! 🙏🏽😊
A LO LARGO TIENE K IR
That metal adapter is actually quite handy; even more so if you don't have any 'spare' pieces of wood around. Thanks for sharing. Never knew things like that even existed.
Thank you for watching brother! Yes the metal adapter is great for huge repairs as well! You can set them on all 4 edges to hold bigger piece of drywall patch! 👍🏽😊
Never seen this metal bracket before but wood you can get anywhere lol
I'm not the handiest of guys, but I'm learning. Videos like yours really help. I have to repair a piece of dry wall next to one of my vents, about the size of your outlet, now I have a pretty clear idea of how to do it and what I need. Thanks bro!
Omg. I been waiting forever to come across an instructional video like this. Thank you!
Thank you 🙏🏽! Glad I could be of help!
You are the real deal. You are going to save the DIY'er alot of money by doing some of these repairs on our own. May GOD continue to bless you. Nice job!
Nice job 👍🏼 I might have pulled that single gang box out enlarged the hole for a double gang box put in quad receptacles.
And make them all the same color...lol
Worked just fine. The electrical box almost prevented making a shim. I added a block of wood on the 2x4 to give the shim an anchor. Thanks much.
You can sand and feather the edges with a damp sponge and leaves it no dust to clean up . I use a tile sponge, and they clean out easily if you are sanding large areas and need to rinse it out .
If you don't have a lot of texturing to do, you can use the spray cans. They are cheaper than buying a whole compressor and hopper system and a lot more convenient. If you're going to use them a lot, or texture a ceiling, my recommendation is to go with the hopper. The spray cans suck for ceiling texture. Definitely worth comparing the prices. If you go with the spray can texture, I HIGHLY suggest you go with the "pro-grade" cans. They shoot texture substantially better than the cheaper cans.
Thank you for the advice! 🙏🏽😊
thanks for this video, very clear and concise, much easier to repair than I thought it would be
Thank you! Glad I could be of help! 👍🏽🙏🏽😊
Great video. My wallll damage/overcut was minor, so I went with a larger wall plate. Good to know that I could have handled it if it was worse.
Thank you 🙏🏽! I’m glad you were able to fix it with minor repair 👍🏽😊
This was so awesome and saved me a lot of money for the repair Thank you
I’m glad I could be of help! Thank you 🙏🏽!
WE have the same situation on the top right 2/3 of a 3 gang light switch. I did not know how to use the metal clips you used at first... I may try them.
Thank you so much!!!! Best useful and very clear steps ever!!!!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏽😊
Good video. I prefer to use plywood as a backer, as straight grain wood tends to crack easily when screwed.
I've patched holes before, I knew that part, but the best part for me was that texture sprayer. I have popcorn ceilings and it looks like I could use this sprayer for some repair work there. Thanks.
Thank you 🙏🏽! I really love that sprayer! It’s my go too for patch work!
If you have a small place to texture your can lightly dip a small bristle brush in thinned out drywall mud and then flick the mud on by pulling the bristles back with your fingers and letting them spring forward toward the wall. The more you thin out the drywall mud the more fine the texture affect will be.
Great job! Looks good 👍 thanks for the video.
Great fix. I have a circular hole that is bigger than what I need for my recessed lights on my ceiling. The gap peeps out if I use the same hole to install my recessed lights. How can I cover that gap?
Good call out on using a paint stick. Done that a few (more than a few) times myself.
Yes, gotta love those free stir sticks! Glad I could be of help! 🙏🏽😊
Excellent job and teaching.... Thank you !!!
I’m glad I could be of help! Thank you 🙏🏽!
Thanks for showing both methods! Really helpful and amazing job.
Thank you so much! 🙏🏽😊
That’s a cool trick with the paint stick. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏽😊
@@FixThisHouse I subscribed I really like your channel.
With such a small area to cover, there is no need to prepare and use so much compound. Texture compounds are available in small spray cans. You can choose the kind of texture you want from the different nozzles that come with the can.
I agree! Was planning to texture the whole wall because past owner textured with huge texture. Small patch work like this works with those homax spray cans.
Thank you very very very much! Very grateful and appreciative.
The metal bracket is clever II didn't know they made anything like that I usually use they use a piece of wood and my finished nailer thank you for sharing new here to your community community but forward to hear from you by for now Ken God-bless you merry Christmas
Thank you! Yes there are many methods. Please stay tuned and I’ll be showing a video with all the combination methods on how to fix these drywall holes 👍🏽😊 . Take best of care! 🙏🏽
Looks good. For such a small area I would use texture in a can.
Thank you 🙏🏽! Honestly, those canned texture are ok, I’ve used them before and I don’t recommend them on areas that are going to be seen often.
Drywall mesh tape....omg...what a nice invention....never knew
I used to just screw a piece of lath behind the hole then just slap some fast-drying topping compound over that.
Great video sir!! Greatly appreciate it sir!!
Nice job. Thanks for sharing.
Easy and clear instructions , 5/5
Great video. Thanks man.
Very well explained. Thanks a lot
Thank you so much! 🙏🏽😊
I really appreciate this video. My outlet is hanging by a thread at the bottom and top is not affixed. Any suggestions?
This is great info! Thank you very much!
Excellent video! Thank you
Thank you so much for the feedback! 🙏🏽😊
Nice “flat-head screwdriver” used to remove the cover plate 😂
Lol, yes have to be creative sometimes 😅
As soon as I saw that...I was OUT! 🤦🏻♂️
@@FixThisHouse As a Professional you must lead us by example! I just saying it was an Immediate turn off! Sorry!
@@BIG_JV it got the job done! You would probably pay someone else to do it.
Great video. I use the same texture spray er from Amazon its works great
Thank you! Yes by far the best and cheaper texture sprayer I used!
Great job! Thank you 😊
I have used texture in a can and it works pretty well. So if anyone out there is looking to cut a corner and doesn't have the big equipment for the texture there are some decent ones out there. They do NOT look perfectly blended but you really cant tell unless you are really looking. So if you are like me and don't mind a slight difference it'll work.
I've noticed a tighter or sharper pattern with the oil based can. water based seems bigger globs that become less defined in the end. All depends on what you are trying to match. What a fun game.
@@thehamburglar9mm haha no kidding
Great video and thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so much for the love and support! 👍🏽🙏🏽😊
nice, i'm going to have to try using paint sticks in place of dry wall, as i have no pieces of dry wall.
Thanks and Blessings!
Beautiful work
Thank you 🙏🏽!
Awesone job! How long should you wait before sanding?
i dont like all that work if i have some expanding foam in a can i will spray around the box and let it bulge out the hole then when dry use a razor blade to cut flat to wall sand it if need and primer the foam paint the texture often looks good enough but if not you can add a thin mud coat and texture spot prime paint
my method is the strongest way and you may add some insulating properties as well
Great job a lot of steps but it paid off.
Personally a hole that small I would have just put a piece of drywall tape . And a bit of joint compound the small area .
That will work too! 5 minute hot mud, would do the trick for smaller holes too 👍🏽😊
I just glue a scrap of wood (or drywall) behind the hole. Much stronger, and free. I've done it many, many, many times to repair holes of all sorts.
Nice idea!👍😉
Thank you 🙏🏽
nicely done
Good job. Thank you. Can’t you get that texture in a spray paint type can?
Hi! Yes you can it’s called Homax, but with my past experiences they are only good for small patches and doesn’t look that good In my opinion 🙏🏽
Well done 👍🏾
Thank you 🙏🏽!
thank you
You are awesome! Thanks
Thank you for watching 🙏🏽😊

Thank you for watching! 🙏🏽😊
Good job. 👍👍
Thank you 🙏🏽!
Simply cut a piece of drywall oversize then cut to size leave paper on overlap - then mud no need to purchase clips etc
Looks good!
Thank you!
nice vid but was that an insulated steak knife used to take off the outlet? Milwaukeee? Makita maybe?🧐
Good tutorial
Thank you 🙏🏽!
Well done.
Thank you! 🙏🏽😊
Good job bro !
Thank you brother! 🙏🏽😊
What?🤣🤣🤣
Instead of using joint compound, use cornice cement, it set like rock! on top of the cornice cement use filler, You dont need to use the mesh tape.. Also put cornice cement on the edges of the dry wall insert. If using the timber put in opposite way from the video, so you have 2 points of contact instead of one
I. HAVE. THIS. TO. DO. THANKS. !!!
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏽😊
Nice job
Thank you! 🙏🏽😊
Hi, how can I fix it when tile is in the way?
Thanks!
Thank you 🙏🏽 for watching!
Watched your how to fix a not flushed outlet, only to see part of the cause was a piece of drywall missing where an ear sits, kinda like the bottom of the example, is there anything you don't know sir lol
Hi do you have a video on how to fix cracks on walls? thank you
Hi! Yes I do, here is the link : m.czcams.com/video/x8JVGM4i2Mc/video.html&pp=ygUoSG93IHRvIGZpeCBjcmFja3Mgb24gd2FsbCBmaXggdGhpcyBob3VzZQ%3D%3D
Is it not easier to just use some expanding foam, no need to make the hole any bigger, that's what I use, never had any problems with it
That actually is a good idea! I’ll go give that a try next time 👍🏽😊
My landlords have left all of my sockets like this!! Is it dangerous or just unsightly?
Great!!!
Thank you 🙏🏽!
I would just replace the one gang box with a two gang box. It will be faster than to patch the wall, and you get two more outlets.
So what’s ur advice it is a quad receptacle already make it 6 lol
@@justinroll7481 Install a small cabinet in that case.
2 gang tiger box. Pigtail for the next outlet and done. Demo old box with a multi tool to cut the screws.
It's not a "quad" recepticle. It's a only 2 outlets existing. Once you put the 2 gang box with another outlet then it will be 4 outlets.
Nice knife 😄😁😁😆😆😆
Awesome
Thank you 🙏🏽!
I was wondering how the texture went on, thanks
Thank you 🙏🏽! Anytime!
You can use only mesh tape and 5 min hot mud . Faster.
Bigger piece of wood vertical more strong!!🤔 😎👍🍺
Hello, do you have any connection in Canada? I saw a Canadian used your video in another platform and he’s claiming you are his team member.
Hi! Thank you for informing me. I do not have connections in Canada. Please send the link to this platform where he is using and claiming my work. 🙏🏽😓
GERAT
Thank you 🙏🏽
I would have put what called a (Goof plate)/jumbo duplex outlet cover
Is not necessary put metal or wood for small hole ,I repair it only with drywall
Thank you for your feedback 🙏🏽😊
That's a MONEY REPAIR right there! Great work dude!
Wow looks like there was never any damage !
I would’ve just put a little mudding sand it and put more mudding if it really needed it paint and like new haha. You don’t really need tape for that small of a repair the mudding should be enough to fill that little air pocket decently well.
I've done drywall for 6 years and it is never good to let your edges dry because you could see them it is better to sponge them to make the lines go away. Second your texter on wall is thick so your texter has to be harder and your hoper pressure should be lowe to they that thick but round texter.
Thank you for the advice 🙏🏽👍🏽
Paper tape, hot mud and a wet rag.
Not sure why you ran the shim horizontal…way better structural strength going bertical
I completely agree. I’m just demonstrating that a small shim could be used in lieu of the the metal clips. But yes, if you ran a longer sim vertical, much more structural strength. Int this case it’s just a small patch that doesn’t really need much strength to it. Also another option is using Hot Mud and mesh only which can be accomplished quickly. Many options. 👍🏽😊🙏🏽
💯%agree!!😎👍😷🇲🇽
hard to believe that an expert keeps installing the ground down
I didn’t see any ground installed on this video 🤔
- Introduction: The tutorial focuses on repairing damaged drywall around electrical outlet boxes or covers, emphasizing the importance of addressing hidden damage caused by impact.
- Preparation: Ensure safety by turning off power from the circuit breaker. Measure and mark around two inches from the visible damage to create a template for cutting.
- Repair Method 1: Utilize drywall repair clips by attaching them to the damaged area and securing them with provided screws. Measure and cut a piece of drywall material to fit the damaged section, then attach it to the clips.
- Repair Method 2: Alternatively, use scrap wood such as a shim or a stir stick to support the damaged area. Secure the wood with drywall screws and attach the cut drywall piece.
- Finishing Touches: Scrape off excess texture around the repair area for a smooth finish. Apply mesh tape and joint compound in layers, allowing drying time between coats. Sand the area to feather the edges, then apply joint compound texture using a texture sprayer. Finally, paint over the repaired area and reinstall the outlet cover.
Just cut it out and put a 2 gang in Nothing wrong without an extra receptacles
Glad he found a screwdriver 😅
The cheapest and easiest way is to replace the one gang box with a tow gang box
Made that job a lot more complicated than it had to be.
What would you do differently?
Goddamn I really hate textured walls and textured ceiling for that matter. Should be illegal
pro
3:48 "...good product to use when you don't any piece of wood available." No wood, but you have the product?
And then
why can't you just fill it with foam or mud instead of cutting more drywall?
There are many ways to do it. This is just one option 👍🏽😊
👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
