- 🔴 RO Podul Minciunilor din Piața Mică leagă cele două sectoare ale pieței, facilitând trecerea între Orașul de Jos și Orașul de Sus. Inițial, trecerea era pe sub niște clădiri demolate în 1851, iar scările de pe latura vestică a străzii Ocnei au dispărut și ele atunci.
Inaugurat în data de 17 decembrie 1860, podul a fost o realizare notabilă, finalizată în doar un an de la începerea construcției. Este de menționat că acesta a fost primul pod de fontă construit în România!
Structura podului este, compusă din patru arcade aplatizate din fontă turnată. Aceste arce nu doar reprezintă o premieră tehnică, ci și surprind printr-un echilibru remarcabil între rezistență și decorație. Traforarea elaborată adaugă un șir de cvadrilobi și șase elemente circulare descrescătoare, amplasate cu atenție între arcuri și elementul orizontal sub nivelul de călcare.
Cercurile cu diametrul maxim afișează stema Sibiului pe latura sudică și inscripțiile "1859" și "FRIEDRICHS/HŰTTE" pe cea nordică. Celelalte cercuri descrescătoare conțin motive vegetale sau geometrice de factură neogotică.
Structura se sprijină pe două console profilate din piatră, integrate în zidurile de cărămidă aparentă.
Cele patru piedestale robuste la capătul podului, realizate din piatră, susțin corpuri de iluminat din fontă turnată.
Podul păstrează o legătură cu trecutul prin intermediul numeroaselor legende. Cea mai populară spune că, dacă cineva spune o minciună cât timp se află pe pod, acesta se va prăbuși. O notă de mister care adaugă un plus de farmec acestei construcții fascinante!

🔴 EN The Bridge of Lies in the Small Square connects the two square sectors, making it easier to move between the Lower Town and the Upper Town. Initially, the passage was under some buildings demolished in 1851, and the stairs on the western side of Ocnei Street also disappeared then.
Inaugurated on December 17, 1860, the bridge was a remarkable achievement, completed just one year after construction began. It should be noted that this was the first cast iron bridge built in Romania!
The structure of the bridge is composed of four flattened cast iron arches. These arches not only represent a technical first but also surprise with a remarkable balance between strength and decoration. Elaborate tracery adds a row of quadrilobes and six descending circular elements carefully placed between the arches and the horizontal element below the tread.
The circles with the maximum diameter display the coat of arms of Sibiu on the southern side and the inscriptions "1859" and "FRIEDRICHS/HŰTTE" on the northern side. The other descending circles contain vegetal or geometric neo-Gothic motifs.
The structure rests on two profiled stone consoles, integrated into the exposed brick walls.
The four sturdy pedestals at the end of the bridge, made of stone, support cast iron lighting fixtures.
The bridge maintains a link with the past through numerous legends. The most popular one says that if someone tells a lie while on the bridge, it will collapse. A touch of mystery adds extra charm to this fascinating construction!

It was fascinating to see the Bridge of Lies in this video and read about its historiy in the description.
