      All Blacks forward pack lost a bit of its composure back in 2009 when Ali Williams was injured and ruled out all throughout the season so looking for someone with his expertise was quite tough for Graham Henry. You look at Boks, you've got Botha and Matfield, Wallabies you've got Vickerman and Sharpe. You look at ALL BLACKS back in 2003-2007 when they had Ali Williams and Chris Jack. They were unstoppable because of their physic, agility and physical gaming traits that they both possessed and it counts for sure.

Then beat aa England squad that didn't even show up to the pitch. Probably the easiest RWC run a team has ever had. England had to go through the pool of death, then wallabies & AB's to vs a very good Springboks team. Totally different runs

  • @MorrisonRDCLS
    @MorrisonRDCLS Před 4 lety +17

    Yeah great team, believe the current team 2019 will get even better, with Rassie as Director of Rugby things will be put into place to keep the momentum. The Springboks have turned around but can only improve and dominate as long as they keep their heads screwed on right. Bokke all the way.

    • @calvingroenewald2497
      @calvingroenewald2497 Před 4 lety

      The quota system has been an issue before, but every single, and I mean, every black player who made the world cup squad deserved to be there. Kolisi not the best in his position? Go and check his 2018 stats. He made the most running meters and breaks of any international open-side flank. This year his form may have been hindered by injury at first, but in the case of a captain that could unite a country, I think Rassie was justified in bringing him to the RWC not fully recovered. In any case, Kwagga got his shot, and proved he can’t quite yet make the step up, as much as I like him as a player. Lukhanyo Am not good? He is one of the smartest rugby players in the world right now. He reads attacks like a children’s book, and adapts and calls the shots on defense. The only reason he isn’t a conventional outside centre is because the Boks game plan isn’t based around him getting as much attacking ball. Combined with Damian De Allende, the two of the are like an immovable object on defense. Yes, the Boks were in a bad spot because the government decided to get involved with springbok rugby, but since Rassie has come back, he has made sure that players selected are based on merit and merit alone. We as South Africans, specifically us Afrikaners are far too quick to throw the word quota around. Especially nowadays, when it’s practically gone with regards to our rugby team.

      @calvingroenewald2497 Před 4 lety +1

      N H I just reread your entire discussion with Gareth, I misunderstood your point at first. I agree with you that players shouldn’t be seen for the color of their skin, and picked on form. I would take an all white springbok team or an all black springbok team any day of the year, if it meant the boks would be dominant. It is unfortunate that as soon as you pick players based on form, a lot of the time it ends up being a primarily white team but I expect that to change. We have a lot of untapped black talent at youth level, and if Rassie can find a way to cultivate it all properly, I’d take a 15 man black springbok team happily if we still won games regularly. I think that’s a huge misconception people have about most afrikaners who complain about government involvement in our sports. It’s not that we don’t like black people playing sports, it’s that we don’t like our shitty government having a say in something they know nothing about, when we all want the best for our team.
