  • A top tune embarcing the British neo soul sound of the early 90s with it's hypnotic bassline and melodic strings.
"There's Nothing Like This" was the debut track from British singer/songwriter/musician Omar (aka Omar Christopher Lye-Fook), which was initially released in 1990 on his father's record label, Kongo Records and entered the UK Albums Chart, reaching no. 54.
He later signed to his first major record label, Talkin' Loud, which saw the re-release of his debut album, which climbed to no.19 in the UK Albums Chart and the single reached no. 14 in the UK Singles Chart on re-release in 1991.
Omar grew up in Canterbury, Kent and learned his craft classically, playing the trumpet, piano and percussion. He also spent 2 years at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester and the Guildhall School of Music in London.
Omar is regarded as the father of the neo soul movement in the early 90s and US artists such as Maxwell and Erykah Badu recognise his contribution to the genre.
He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2012 Birthday Honours for services to music.
Omar is still producing music and performing live and is a very much in demand performer collaborating with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Angie Stone, Erykah Badu, Carleen Anderson, Caron Wheeler and many others.
