It's interesting reading some the comments below; I think it's easy to forget that in ye olden days (i.e. 25 years ago), launching a new band wasn't something to take for granted. In the case of Take That it was nearly 2 years of hard work from their inception before they had anything even resembling a 'hit' record. Even today they are a hard working band, deserving of more credit for this than they get.
Gary is too adorable, lol. I love everything about him (more so now than what I read and "seen" of then.) He's become a much better man today. Good on him.
I cant stop laughting :D my son is now so old like robbie in this video and its soo....well when i think my son have this pants on.. ohh my god..but markie was 1990 so sweet like today
Han Thatter is correct in saying that the band was formed around Gary and his music. It literally was. Nigel was clear in saying that the others were expendable at any given point. Do I believe that? Absolutely not. TT are much better now than they ever have been, but during this time in the 90s? It was all centered on Barlow because that's how Nigel wanted it to be.
He wasn't 'hogging' the vocals. This was how it was done back in the 80s/90s. There was always one person doing the lead vocals. Plus considering the band was formed around Gary and his music, you can understand why he sang everything. Loved this footage, I have never seen it before too!
Han Thatter Yes,but he was the songwriter and he intentionally wrote songs for himself to sing not others. If someone else had of written the songs and selected Gary all the time, I think it would have been a different story
He'd admite that was his fault, he would be a soloist...he just wouldn't sharing same-intence spot light w/ other boys...he paid those mistakes, soooo bitterly...first his solo carrier after the band-split, unlike he was expected...got overweight, badmouthed by Robbie 'the wonder boy' (at that time until now actually)...that 'legitimate' media and anybody for bully him...he walked, then random people would sing "let meeee entertain yoooou"...or said, "hey Gary Robbie new song sooo great, isn't it?"
OMG...look them... Very different with they're now :D Can't believe that, this vid when I was born in October 1990,,but I don't know when this vid is made
too bad this wasn't released as a single, i find it better than it only takes a minute (the first track of theirs i heard back in '92/'93 which for whatever reason, i did not care for) and probably would have liked them if i had heard this back then.
02:29 the interviewer's personality reminds me a lot of Katy Grin from the Ab Fab show. I wonder if that's where Jennifer Saunders drew inspiration for Jane Horrock's second character.
hahahah never seen that before, MAN they look stupid dancing dressed like that!!! But happy - soooo not knowing how wrong and sad they would end up 5 years later - time has realy done them good...but hey, little Robbie is kind of cute, isn't he?
Put "cute" lads in some skinny wear dosnt matter whether they can sing or not. The crowd were stagnant the whole performance but as long as they're cute the TV will blow smoke.
They were huge in the UK and Europe. I'm American and I say they were one of the best boy bands ever. Robbie made it huge when the band split up, and is still doing great at age 40. Two back to back tours all over Europe. No one comes close in Brit awards 17 total the equivalent to a grammy. Never mind the records he has broken. He fills concert seats like no other. They don't have to make it in the US. They proved themselves over and over again. Just because you don't make it in the US doesn't mean they didn't make it.
Back for Good was their only hit and its a great song. They never released anything else in the US. I think Gary's "So Help me Girl" got very limited airplay in some markets but that is it. Robbie was more popular in the US.
Rob left the band and they broke up. It's what usually happens with boybands. Look at One Direction. N sync etc..5 year expiration date. In case you don't know Take That is huge and so is Robbie Williams. He told us the other day on chat that he didn't want to tour the U.S., it was too much work at the time and didn't want to start over, he was fucked up on drugs at the time, not anymore, and realized the U.S. was a great place to hide out of fame. He could go anywhere and no one chased him..So he chose to live there instead. If he wanted to make it big he would have..Check his stats...He's very famous outside the U.S...you pack a stadium with 375,000 people and tell me if that isn't good He's had 3 back to back tours in the past 3 years all sold out...I'm American and I get it.
Here in 2024😅❤

Gary was the brains and the talent behind the group from the beginning.

This was when i prefered take that.
Them wearing outfits that nicki minaj would wear dancing camp.
Now they are just hairy older men. :(
The host is so vulgar... "all the money and things", ab horrid interview. Gaz always the mature one.
hahaha, i remember how gay the 90s were :
Damn, that's embarrassing as hell: the clothes, the hair, Gary's awful dancing... No wonder they never took off in US.

now go and eat your burrito...
That was the beginning they later got a lot better. Two of them are great break dancers.
