While taking my walk around the Tahquitz Creek Golf neighborhood of Palm Springs, CA today, I talk about my favorite gay/LGBTQ+ CZcams channels and vloggers. Let me know if there are others I should be watching.

I love those mid century houses. I'm amazed that some of the yards are just stones and pebbles yet still beautiful. Anyway, I don't really vlog a lot but I do post videos of me singing. Not too many people want to hear an old gay man singing but it's my way of expressing myself. Happy Birthday to your channel.

Lol, yes, instead of orchids I’m sure you would have an amazing cacti garden. I love cactus flowers, but unfortunately they all seem to only bloom one day a year. If you blink you miss the blooms! 🙁🙃

Hi Steve & Jim, Love, love, love these beautiful, relaxing desert 🏜 walks and talks. I realize this may seem silly, but when you zoomed in on the street sign "Birdie Way", there was a small birdie sitting on the sign. How can I share with you a screenshot? I do photography 📸 as a hobby and am always photographing various birds, so I was quick to catch this. Lol... When you mentioned Bobolink while walking by the street sign with that name, it piqued my curiosity as my memory was that it had something to do with quail -- but when I looked it up, I found that I was mistaken. The Bobolink is actually a native, North American Black Bird that is comparatively rare and is rarely seen West of the Continental Divide.

This walk was great. It brought back memories of many trips from San Diego in the 70s with my family. Dad and I would bring our bikes and get up early to ride the quiet streets before the heat set in. The early sunlight was beautiful. Thanks.

Hi Jennifer! 😄👍 I would say that about 50% of the homes in Palm Springs are mid-century modern. We also have a lot of Spanish homes and then we have newer homes and also just the typical California ranch homes. But 50% is still a lot more than almost any other city in the country. 😎👍
I discovered and subscribed to your graveyard channel during covid. You were the first youtuber I ever watched. I love watching ypur videos and listening to you talk. I seen scott on tape with you back then and subscribed to his channel also. I never knew that you were gay until you mentioned it in one of the videos with your daughter. It doesn 't matter to me what gender you prefer to be with that is your bussiness. I love ya anyway! When I started watching your videos I thought you were only in your 50's and was shocked when you said you are 70. Another beautiful neighborhood to explore! I have a few older gay friends and acquaintances in my age group who are intimidated by today’s technology. Less of us to participate in social media. When I was working full time I was able to keep up with the changing technology. Since retiring a few years ago I find it a bit difficult to keep up.

Have you thought about growing a beard again? It may be a different look/feel since gray hair is different, and it would compliment your shaved head. The experiment might also make for a good CZcams video😜
Hi Corey, I agree that it would make an interesting CZcams video. And I might have to do it just for that lol! 😆 but I just really hate the look of beards on any man. I’ve never like that look. For a practical standpoint it would be fantastic though. I hate to shave and I only shave once or twice a week now. I would love not to have to shave again. And it would also hide my saggy neck skin that flaps in the breeze lol. Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t have to think of about that one for a while! 🙄

4) Tyler and Todd in Canada, which you stated you watch as well. Great couple. Love their dogs. Watching them for about 4 yrs now.
5) The Pineapples out of San Diego. 3 gay guys in a throuple. relationship.

I enjoyed this episode because of the gay channels mentioned. I still consider myself new to CZcams since I began watching YT videos last year around this time of year. The “gay” channels I have stumbled upon is yours and Dearly Departed. I also watch Hollywood Graveyard and that creator may be gay. I’ll be searching out those channels. On my instagram profile I describe myself as a digital content creator in organization; meaning I’m studying the landscape of creators looking for my content niche to launch my channel.

Honestly, you looked great with the beard. As long as beards are groomed and not bushy, for the most part, I like them. Love the walk, looking at the houses and designs, landscaping. It does kinda crack me up, all that green grass out in the middle of the desert!! I prefer a more native look, and there is actually a lot more color and vegetation in the desert than many people realize.

LOVE Tyler and Todd, I've also been following them since just before they took off on their RV adventure, then the pandemic hit and put an end to that. They loved Palm Springs when they went through there. They talk about setting themselves up for "retirement" quite a bit, and I think, in a way, they've been doing that since college days. Smart guys, funny as hell and they're quite inspiring for DIY projects. If you aren't 100% committed to men, there's the VanWives, who are also not living in their van anymore. Their channel is a similar to T & T, with their own spin. They have, just at T & T do, a podcast.
Hi Derek, I agree. Tyler and Todd have such great building skills. They are so impressive. I didn’t start watching their channel until after their started building the off grid house house. I will have to go back and see if I can find their RV episode when they came to Palm Springs. Thanks for letting me know about it. Someone else also just mentioned the Vanwives. I just watched a few episodes and thought I was watching the female version of Tyler and Todd lol. Both of their off grad homes are in Nova Scotia. I wonder if they are neighbors? Hi Steve, I liked your walk. I like that neighborhood by I heard a rumor that golf course may shut down and the Prescott preserve folks may try to buy it as parkland. Regarding gay channels although younger I highly recommend “Tommy and Peter” a sweet married couple in Czech Republic (though late 30s). PJ and Thomas are fun, a young (30s) married couple in Tennessee who adopted 3 kids. I’d be interested in your opinion on these two. Lastly there is a straight older woman in Indio called “Palm Springs Cindy” who has been vlogging for years. She is in her 70s and a former Palm Springs resident and retired school teacher who is a real kick. Take care and enjoy!

I actually do like them a lot and I do watch the channel and I subscribe. I’ve tried PJ and Thomas but for some reason I just don’t connect with her channel. Maybe I should give them another try. I have enjoyed Tyler and Todd's channel - It is so interesting about the issues they encounter in their projects and how they handle it. Yeah as we get to be in our 60's and older not as many people who understand or care for the online and videoing or vlogging world - wasn't part of growing up and they feel can't teach an old dog new tricks - but ya can lol

Hi Steve. Thank goodness for You ! You are always authentic and enjoyable. Your videos are one of my "Treats". I want to introduce you to a CZcams channel called Out Loud. The two guys are in a relationship with a large age gap. They vlog their lives with the channel. They are cute. The older individual is in his 60s or 70s. Another enjoyable channel is Tips For Travelers. The channel has 433K Subscribers. The host mostly seems to go on cruises, but also does train and other adventures. He is out of Britain and is openly gay. The channel is oriented towards travel tips and less about his relationship. He is very detail oriented and excellent with his filming, narration and production. He has a modern, progressive approach about being gay. "Kerry and Pierre" is another favorite. Out of Miami. Two very handsome men and their gay life. They focus on their relationship and fitness in the LGBTQ community. My last treat is Walter Lee Hampton II, out of Atlanta. He gives a great perspective of gay life there. I would describe him as middle-age gay. His channel is a Vlog about his life, working out, and all of the nuances of his life. He's authentic and has a unique style.
Keep doing what you do. You make a difference !

I love it when they have longer personal lives, but so many of their videos are just about playing games or making podcast that I’m just not that interested in. Do you ever feel aches and pains after these great, long walks? My cane and I have in the past few months worked up to slow-paced nightly or early morning walks (both cooler times of the day in Florida) up to 4 laps around the grounds of the building where I live which equals about a mile. Just recently I had to cut it back a rest a few days a week instead of walking 7 days a week because my right ankle on the inside of the foot right where my ankle and foot join was very sore and puffy. I took a week off and started back a few days ago at 2 laps a night and it seems to be a little better. I chalk it up to age, but I just wondered how you are holding up. I know...I am so good at "sticking my nose into things"! Thanks always!
Hi William, that’s an excellent question and no one has ever asked that before. It ties in with something else I wanted to mention on one of my walks so I will answer that question in a future video. 😄 as for your walks, that is awesome. I wonder what could be causing the pain and swelling? Maybe the next time you go to your doctor he will be able to figure it out. Jim used to put an ice pack on his ankle when it would get painful and swell when he played basketball and it really worked. He had the type that straps around your ankle with Velcro. I tried it when I had a pan a while back and it worked incredibly well. Maybe you could try something like that too. Good luck continuing with the walks! 😄👍

Pardon me if this has been asked but did you ever have the chance to see or meet Huell Howser? I wonder what cemetery he was buried at. Years ago, maybe 2008/10(?), I saw him at a restaurant in Palm Springs. I believe it was LG’s Steakhouse. He was with 2 friends and I so wanted to go over and shake his hand and thank him for his videos. However, I also didn’t want to disturb his dinner time and no one else approached his table, so I just let it be that I would admire him at a distance. 😁

His ashes are entered at Chapman college and a couple of years ago I drove all the way down there on the Sunday to see them. Unfortunately the columbarium is closed on Sundays! 😩 he also had a home here in Palm Springs. I subscribe to many gay vlogger channels. Many are avid readers as am I. Love their book reviews and hauls. Theres also a little younger Vanwives and Tyler and Todd forging lives in rural areas. More that I cant think of right now.

Hi Rex, I knew absolutely nothing about vlogging when I first started. Less than nothing in fact lol. Learning how to film and edit was part of the fun. It’s really super simple and anyone can do it. You just have to start and each day you learn a little something new. Let us all know if you decide to give it a try and start a channel! 😄👍

Hi Steve, as I was searching cemeteries I came across this very interesting video. The video is called : 10 most unusual cemeteries in Southern Indiana. These headstones are pretty amazing. Would be interested in what you think. Hope you veiw it..the monopoly headstone is great.

Steve, OutLoud is a YT channel with Jon & Brian of Providence Rhode Island. Theirs is an age gap relationship of 27 years.
They will be taking over the Monkey Tree Inn in Palm Springs in June to celebrate John turning 30. They have their subscribers in all of the other rooms.
They were here last year to film a series in LA when they visited Palm Springs.
I would LOVE to know if you recognize them from the series you talked about early in this video that got so much trolling online. Jon and Brian are on the record as having disliked the experience themselves. I was never able to find it online.
Jon does frequent Gay health related videos as he is a licensed medical assistant. They VLOG family and baseball sports league videos. (I skip those last...) That said it is an interesting mix of younger and older gay generations mixing and the friends in both age groups.
FYI the OLDGAYS have apparently privated most of their long form videos. Unfortunately, they become a little too well-known when one of them had a brick thrown through a front window. They had done a collab with some very popular young CZcamsrs here for Coachella Weekend 1 either last year or two years ago at one of their homes in Cathedral City. It was a week later the brick was thrown through the window. It was the long form videos that gave too much personal information on where they could be found. It's a really sad situation to have happened here in the Palm Springs area.
However, it is a reminder that we all need to remain vigilant...Even here.

Hi Robert, I do occassionally watch Out Loud and I like them both, but I prefer their personal vlogs. Unfortunately, they seem to prefer doing the game shows and podcasts, which don't really interest me. Otherwise, I would have included them.
Thanks for sharing that about the Old Gays. I was planning on walking in their Cathedral City neighborhood and talking about them living there. I won't do that now. So glad you told me about what happened, before I did that video! I had no idea that happened to them. :-(
You are right. It is a very good rememinder to be vigilant, even here. Hateful people are everywhere. :-( Even though lots of viewers ask me to share my birthdate, last names, headstones of family members I visit, etc., I try never to share information that will make it easy for scammers and hackers and haters, oh my! :-O Thanks!

Hi Steve. There are 2 channels you might like. One is Rob Anderson. He has a book called "Gay Science'. The other channel is Matthew and Paul Official. I subscribe to both these channels and highly recommend them. And, like Jeanette who commented, Im a straighr grandma.
Edit: I should've mentioned that Paul Castle (matthew and paul) also has a book out. He is blind and an artist!

Steve, you left out John Kanell from Preppy Kitchen. He shares his recipes and has on or about 4 million followers. I'm sure there are others, but he stands out at the moment. I've checked out some of the videos you mentioned, but none of them pulled me in. Your videos rock. I feel I know Palm Springs like my own town here in the Northeast.
Thanks for the suggestion Kel. Jim loves cooking shows. I will tell him about it. Maybe we will add it to our list of cooking shows that he makes me watch with him lol. The personal vlogs that I prefer definitely are not for everyone. In fact, they are usually very small channels with very small audiences like mine. Most people are not interested in watching random people talking about their boring lives lol. But for some reason those are my favorites lol! 🤣👍

Hi Tom, excellent question. Back in the day when most of the neighborhoods were built here in Palm Springs, the homes were weekend homes only. Since almost no one lived here full-time I think the developers just figured they could save money by not including sidewalks. Unfortunately, it makes for a very pedestrian unfriendly city! 😩

Memorial Day is getting very close now. I hope you can put something together to honor those that have served in the forgotten Vietnam War that lasted for far too many years and too many died, wounded and suffer from all they went through in that War. Vietnam Veterans as controversial as that war was seem to have been forgotten now days. Vietnam Vets are getting older day by day and one of these days just like those in previous wars they will all be gone. When you are at war and your life is in danger it does not matter if the Solder next to you is Straight or Gay. You are there to do your job and take care of yourself and your buddies next to you. We need to continue that thought in our lives every day even when we are not at war. The best question I can think of is why in this World and where we are so educated War continues time and time again. You would think this world would wake up and stop all these horrible things. The Leaders of this World never seem to learn about the past.

He was having a garage sale. He was selling all of his old collectibles and memorabilia. The sale was over by the time we found out about it or we would’ve gone and met him. We drive by his house every week on the way to Walmart. Unless he has moved since then. I would love to see a picture of his current house to see if it’s the same house. I suspect there are many channels that the CZcams search function simply doesn't show. They really don't care about the content creators or the viewers. They only to want to please the advertisers, who they probably don't really care about either. But because they have no competition they can get away with it.

The funny thing is, I think most of the people who watch this channel are not gay lol! 🤣 Over the years many viewers and subscribers have said they are not gay but they watch because they are parents or grandparents or siblings or friends of gay people. I think that’s awesome. And I watch lots of CZcams channels that are not gay lol! 😄👍

Hi Sharon, I guess we’ve all had to learn over the years to take information online or information in the media with a grain of salt. That is interesting that you like CZcams videos but not reality shows. CZcams videos are typically a lot less produced and a lot more real, so maybe that’s the reason. I know that’s why I like them. When CZcams videos start feeling really slick that they aren’t as watchable for me anyway.
@steveinpalmspringsca Exactly, plus I don't like the way a lot of reality TV (and CZcams) videos are scripted and disingenuous. That isn't reality, not really. I'm not opposed to some scripting and editing. Everyone does that... I guess it's when people try to make things something they are not.
