  • Hello CZcamsrs
The Fujifilm GFX 50S is the first camera in the company’s new medium format GF series. It uses a 51.4MP Medium Format CMOS sensor with a Bayer filter array. Like its smaller sensor X-series siblings, it offers retro-styling and direct controls in a well-balanced (albeit large) mirrorless body.
At 43.8 × 32.9mm, the sensor in the GFX 50S is smaller in surface area than film medium format. However it is identical in size and pixel count to those offered in the current crop of medium format digital cameras on the market (with the exception of the Phase One XF and the Hasselblad H6D). The sensor is 1.7x the surface area of full frame.
The GFX 50S is an entirely new system and uses the brand new 'G' mount. At launch, three lenses will be available (with three more to ship by year's end). If you're turned off by the limited lens choice, don't be, in just five years, the company added 23 lenses to the X-mount lineup, turning a young system into one with lots of choices. So we'll likely see more GF lenses announced relatively soon.
The camera clearly shares a lot with its high-end X-series siblings, but not their X-Trans sensor array. Rather the GFX 50S uses a more traditional Bayer sensor array. The justification: Bayer reduces the complexities of signal processing, which is important when data is coming from such a large sensor.
With the GFX 50S you have the promise of an outstanding ergonomic experience - one in which company's X-series cameras are known for - coupled with a large sensor capable of lovely “Fujifilm” color renditions.
    Notable Features
51.4MP medium format CMOS sensor (43.8 × 32.9mm) with Bayer filter array

From my experience with using my Gfx 50s I was having this problem as well but the hack to this is to go to manual focus using focus peaking. I didn't miss focus not one time when I did this. Also, turning off the pre auto focus feature that makes the motor in the lens jump around. I found out this when I had a shoot that was back lit by harass sunlight. Once I went to manual with focus peak and the sharpness turn up a little to see more detail in view finder. HHmmmm but I was shooting raw format. Anyway, thanks for the video. I can't get enough of these GFX reviews . I love mine and have so much fun adapting lenses.

Rafeal Jackson that is correct. I forgot that you can turn off the pre focusing. But even like that for a medium format camera it is brilliant. I wish I could afford it. But some day... 😂😂😂 Thanks for sharing this with us.

Nice one Attila. Cool video. You said you would review a medium format camera and you did. It's a shame you could only play with it on the shop but it is understandable. I would be scared stiff of dropping it 😀

MarcS4R it is a piece of art. I really like it. And the image quality is outstanding. I can't afford it either but even if I could afford it, it would be difficult to prove it's necessity... 😂 but it would be nice to have it.

yes I would love to have it. do I really need it ? I dont think so. but it would be cool to use the xt2 for events and the gfx for high end portraits when I need the big sensor :)
