    3 great simple drills; I have been teaching baseball for over 30 years to t-ballers (5U) , Pee Week ((7U) - pitching machine; Midgets (8) - begin pitching. I would appreciate similar drills of those age groups.

    Really helping me out as a little league coach! Thanks! Do you have any videos about how to help youth players that are afraid of getting hit by the pitch?

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  Před 6 lety +8

      I'm glad to hear that! You're welcome! I don't think I have any specific videos on getting hit by a pitch properly or getting over that fear... but I will make a dedicated video soon! I think the biggest thing is you need to get the players to face their fears. You become less afraid of getting hit once you understand that it's part of the game and you understand how to properly roll with the pitch and wear it. I would buy some softer balls (like tennis balls or foam balls) and throw them BP. Mix in strikes (where they are taking regular swings) and then occasionally throw the softer balls at them. If it's a strike, they should crush it. If it's coming at them, they should recognize it and turn their front shoulder inward towards the catcher. Make sure they bring their bat down as well.

    • @toddtharp2377
      @toddtharp2377 Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks! The proper way to turn away, protect yourself, drop the bat lower, etc. would be helpful. I saw one site recommended Easton 9 in. SoftStitch White IncrediBalls to mix in with your BP. So they look like baseballs. I will try this and wait to see your next videos. They have really helped me create effective practices out. Can't thank you enough! I didn't grow up playing much baseball so this has been huge. I earned Coach of the Month in fall ball, and I am getting ready for Spring ball.

      @theblockchainsolution Před 5 lety

      That's the only way to get them "comfortable" with the chance of getting hit, getting hit!! Awesome advice. I have been working with my son since day one and when I was pitching he would stand in the box, hover the plate and turn on every inside pitch I gave him and crush it down the line. It was awesome, then he joined a youth city league and started seeing more wild pitches than good and turned into a "gunshy" or scared batter. Not awesome. Teach that shoulder towards the catcher move coach was describing and hit em with some pitches and he/she will get over the fear.
