Hiking Plitvice Lakes National Park - Croatia - Route C

- Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the most popular destinations in Croatia, and for good reason. I recommend visiting the park as early in the morning as possible. This was filmed on a rainy September day, and we were not able to start until almost 10:00 AM due to heavy rains. Once the rains stopped, however, the foggy, cloudy atmosphere made for a mystical experience.
In this video we start at Entrance 1 and follow Route C, which is estimated to take about 4-6 hours. With a total length of about 8 kilometers, Route C is a great route because you start by going down several switchbacks, and you can visit the largest waterfall in the park, Veliki Slap, early in the morning before the crowds arrive.

I'm planning on taking the same route in May of this year. Out of curiosity, how long did it end up taking you to walk the entire route C?
It ended up taking us about 4 and a half hours, but I was stopping regularly to film.
Great video! I would appreciate your advice. I will enter the park at auxiliary entrance P3. Which route is best for me to follow? Can I follow route C from there and then just extend it when I get to its official starting point at entrance P1?
Thank you! It looks like when you get to P3 you take the boat a short distance across the lake and pick up at 5:02 in the video. You'll see the upper lakes first, take a shuttle back to the beginning, then see the big waterfalls and the lower lakes. You'll finish with the longer ferry ride, but I'm not sure if you'll need to then switch ferries for your last, short journey back across the lake to P3.

Hi, it says that the length is 8km, is that combined with the ferry and the shuttle, or just the hiking trails?

8km is just the hiking trails. The ferry and shuttle are not included in that distance.
