It's logical to assume that if you eat a certain way for 50 years and suddenly change you can't expect the body to adapt immediately, 72 days vs 50 years?! the great success as I see it is the elimination of highly processed foods, I have learned alot here and thank you again for that

I am slightly tempted to agree. I always get fantastic health benefits in a few weeks just by merely cutting out added sugar/chocolate/sweets.

Good point. In my opinion, the benefits one sees on carnivore are coincidental, and mainly come from the elimination of processed foods and sugars. I'm no doctor, but I think most people can improve just on that alone.

Hi Rick! I believe your diet change is a great idea. I also believe you are still on the original track you started on which was “no added sugar”, which does not require you to be a carnivore. So, from what I see, you are still on the same successful track you started on. Great job! 😃

FANTASTIC video Rick :-D I have cut right back on added sugar now too as I notice my brain fog gets a lot worse with a lot of sugar, well done on giving up the caffeine, I have tried so many times but the headaches from the caffeine withdrawal are always so bad I give up and go back on the coffee haha, I love to add a tablespoon of Hemp and Flax seed oil to my food and it seems to really help me with digestion but not sure on what effect it would have with the gallbladder, Thanks so much for the wonderful update Rick and sending you lots of love and happiness from Belfast for a super Sunday XXXX

Everyone does the best that they can do in life. :) Good on you for looking for answers. I had my gall bladder out when I was 29 or 30 after a lifetime of too many refined carbs, but to be honest I had horrible stomach aches as young as eight years old when I ate fatty cuts of meat. By the time I had the operation, I was having painful gall bladder attacks every few days. Getting that sucker out changed my life. Now I've been doing the carnivore diet for 10 months and for the first 4-6 weeks I had to use bile salts to relieve stomach issues related to the fat, but now I'm fine even if I eat pork belly. My body has learned to compensate and I can eat whatever I want.
I will say that as your body releases stored body fat, it also releases store toxins, as toxins are stored in the fat. Too many people blame the carnivore, keto or low carb diets for how they feel, but it's just toxic overload. I think dialing things back to a point where you feel better is very important. Maybe look into how to mitigate the dumping of stored toxins.

Glad you have your appointment at last. I can understand why you want to keep the gallbladder. And you probably have a reasonable chance to as if it was infected you would know. Trust me the pain was crazy and continuous and led to jaundice and a week in hospital. Glad you have kept up the ketosis. I use coconut oil and olive oil now and again. All tasty and good for you.

I stopped coffee in 2014 with the aim of stopping smoking, stopped smoking late 2016 eventually.
2018 I started coffee again with custom roasted beans and an AeroPress but then late 2018 I started carnivore and gave up coffee again in 2019.
The second time I stopped coffee it was really easy :)

Nice to see you again, Rick, and thanks for the update! I hope all goes well with your doctor consult. I suspect that what they will say is that if it's settled down now, keep doing what you are doing, but it will need a scan to determine what is going on in your gallbladder. They can get nasty pretty quickly for some people, so knowing what its condition is like is key! I took a look at Stephanie's channel and I like her alot! She is no nonsense, and she has a lot of information to share.(She's 56? Wow. She looks like she's 35!). I agreed with everything she said in the few videos I watched so far. I think that she is saying that there definitely is NOT one diet fits all, and that some people have to modify to stay in in ketosis as not everyone can do pure carnivore. I agree completely, being without a gallbladder, and although I have not had the same issues that I have heard from some post cholecystectomy over the years, I do know that eating super high fat would not work for me. I would need some fibre in terms of low carb veg and fruit to keep the bowel happy. I also know that having regular BM's is vital to overall health as you absolutely do need to get rid of toxins and waste. Carnivorians who proudly declare that they don't poop much are deluding themselves as their body needs to rid waste. That's a no brainer! Anyway, I think you are on the right track doing what you are doing, and being conscientious about getting your GP in on what is going on with your body. Perhaps you will do as well on a ketovore lifestyle if your gallbladder needs to come out? Cheers for being you....🍁🌲🌳🌷

I work nights so am doing all I can to improve my sleep. I have seen Stephanie's channel aswell, I agree that gallblader issues are not discussed very much on the Carnivore channels. I am in a similar dilemma to you in regard to gallbladder issues. Glad to hear you are doing well on Ketovore.

I'm glad to see you are finding a good balance that is right for YOU. Don't stress about IF you have to have your gall bladder removed. Mine has been out for a few years. High fat is a little problematic but your body can adapt and you can even create a pseudo gall bladder. I try and eat just enough fats to continue the lifestyle. You just may have to have a few supplements. Always here for you no matter what you decide. 😉👍❤

So glad you've found a diet working for you currently. I always say people should be as low carb as they need to be to get the results they want, for some paleo will do the trick, for others lion diet is the only way. I think the idea that it's pure carnivore or nothing is bonkers, it's a diet not a religion and that mentality will lead people to go back to SAD and not get the benefits they could otherwise get.
I've encountered many people who have struggled somewhat after having a gallbladder removed, but even if they can't do it 'normally' (because they don't form a pseudo-gallbladder), they can do keto/carnivore, they just need to eat small meals more often rather than the 1-2 meals a day and maybe take oxbile supplements to support their own production. More effort but often still doable if keto/carnivore is working for you. I'd be like you though, and save it if possible.

As I've said previously, when I had a bad gall bladder flare-up, my surgeon told me I might as well have the gall bladder out while I was relatively healthy, rather than end up on his operating table in an emergency situation. There are things that my GI tract has become more sensitive to, like deep-fried foods, excessive protein, excessive dairy, and artificial sweeteners...all that is easily managed with diet. Striking some balance between keto and carnivore is probably the best diet for most people, especially as we get older, the less carbs the better. Rather than continuing to fight a war on two fronts, dealing with your gall bladder and your IBS...just have the gall bladder removed, and then adjust your diet as needed after that. As is, you are only climbing the faff scale higher and higher, trying to keep the ailing gall bladder, which in the end, may be an exercise in futility. I've heard you grumble about your gall bladder for a lot of years, I'd say to you, as I would any friend, it's time to deal with it. As far as dealing with regularity issues, adding Metamucil (they sell an unsweetened version) to your daily routine is extremely helpful. I hope your consult goes well, and that the doctor can persuade you toward having the gall bladder removed.

I'm having some mild ibs issues for a few years, so yesterday I have decided to try some digestive enzymes and slippery elm extract. The other thing I don't think you have mentioned is stomach acid, or lack off.

I found slippery elm to be quite soothing when I tried it a number of years ago. Hope it helps.
I have Recently experimented with Betaine HCL to see if low stomach acid was an issue, but it didn’t make any noticeable difference, so I’m assuming my stomach acid levels are adequate as they are.

Rick my man, have you considered just buying a Keurig? Granted the quality of the coffee might not be quite as good as you're attuned to (and I don't have the highest standards for my java) but after watching you measure and weigh and time and measure and weigh and time for several minutes, I could make 3 cups of coffee in that same time. One regular, one decaf, mix together for a half-caff. Open the box, take out the pre-measured pod, stick it in the machine, press go. Coffee in 2 minutes. And you can have multiple varieties without buying many bags of beans. Then again, I don't have very high standards, just something that tastes reasonably good and wakes me up. I understand the caffeine thing though. I don't know why you can't have caffeine any more. For my part I'm VERY sensitive to it and do not build up a tolerance, so I must limit myself to 1/2 to 1 cup caffeinated per day, and absolutely nothing after midday.

Definitely do not remove the gallbladder, the long term effects will be worse.
If your gallbladder is struggling your liver will be really struggling also.
I’m also struggling with high oestrogen, which thickens bile and effects the gallbladder.
Been a journey but hopefully getting toward the end of it and figuring it out!
Could also be a lot of gut imbalances also which puts extra strain on the the liver

Dr Paul Mason describes how plant oils are slightly different to animal fats chemically and that is why the plant oils get the healthy heart symbol (they lower cholesterol) - this just proves that they affect the body differently and so I think all plant oils are bad, even olive, coconut and avocado, just my opinion though.
Good luck with the gall bladder issues, hopefully it all works out that you can keep it.

Interesting video, I kept saying "drink your coffee, it's going cold"... that coffee, my goodness, what a procedure. I have an orange juice in the morning and Pepsi max the rest of the day, anything more than unscrewing a cap seems a lot of work.
Video editing, how does it take so long? I've been out of it a while, but in Windows movie maker days you slotted the clips into a timeline, trimmed and transitioned, added in any sounds then saved and uploaded. Perhaps there's more to it these days?
Now this next area you can just say 'no comment' and I'll understand. But that IBS must be a real inconvenience in the love life area? Since I've been watching, you've never mentioned romance, dating, previous relationships - if it's off limits, fair enough, but you know we're all nosey, and all take an interest in you, your life and your happiness. So feel free to spill the beans... not the coffee ones... or screw the lid tight shut as you desire. 😊
