G'day from Australia 🇦🇺 personally I like a week in the life/what I eat vlog - maybe about 30 mins long. Not so repetitive, you can just film different bits and pieces as you go, interesting changes, your thoughts/feelings/cravings as the week progresses and just edit and post once a week which would cut down on any monotony and be less labour intensive for yourself. Just my humble opinion. I'm a brand new subscriber and very interested in how this journey goes for you. Best of luck 👍

Hi Rick, I'm now day 49 and going well. Still on meds for Rheumatoid arthritis which includes steriods, I'm sure this is slowing things down but can't give them up just yet. Some advice I would give: stock up on toothpicks and dental floss, and never trust a fart! Looking forward to following your journey and success. Greetings from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 😀

Great stuff. I like the idea to see what the dinner and evenings are like the next day. I was a little amazed at how similar my own fridge contents were to yours. The amount of sugar in the lovely yoghurt and mint sauce is scary. Day 12 keto completed too. I am on my second day now of not really feeling hungry at all and have to force myself to eat something. Roll on all the positives that you will certainly experience! I prefer my steak cooked on the pan and bought one of those mesh covers that prevent most of the splatters, well worth the purchase.

  • @stewved
    @stewved Před 9 měsíci +2

I like the tip about cooked bacon kept in the fridge. I'll be doing that for sure 😄
If I recall correctly, keto flu might be dehydration because the body loses lots of water and electrolytes when using up the glycogen stores. Perhaps drinking a bit more fluids might help balance out what is lost?
Stay strong! imagine yourself looking back at today from the end of the challenge :) I expect by then you'll be feeling perfectly fine all the time.

26 g of carbohydrate in a pint of milk. The grieving is real (toasted teacakes with butter and jam...) I felt like I'd lost a friend - but it doesn't last long once you start to feel better then you realise you've escaped from an abusive relationship!

I have a tip, if I’m getting bored in the evening with what’s on TV or I fancy chocolate I grab my tablet and play scrabble against the computer, it’s very addictive also a great stress reliever. I play at intermediate level and 50% of the time I beat the computer. Good luck with everything xx

hey Rick, if you are dying for bread, you can make bread out of egg whites with no sugar or flour. Look up carnivore bread. Obviously you don’t want to do that on the BBBE challenge but when you are expanding out into other carnivore foods it’s a good option.

I think you’re setting yourself up for failure if you do not walk out side! I, too had severe agoraphobia. I did not leave my house for one year. It took me five years to get well. What started me on the road to recovery, was walking. Outside. Just an amble for one hour. The time is important for the benefits to kick in. This takes away hunger. It raises your serotonin. It makes the diet so much easier. It is a new habit to replace old habits of sitting and eating. Being outside increases brain activity. It decreases anxiety which leads to over eating.

I don't know if I could do what you're doing, Rick, but although I can't come back every day I had to at least go back and watch Day 1. The diet seems counter-intuitive in a way. No sugar, but the fats and cholesterol from steaks, eggs, and bacon are okay? I'd be at a disadvantage, growing up in a Jewish household I never had bacon. But that does sound like my kind of diet until you start the sugar thing. I might be able to have a diet with no *processed* sugars, so foods with naturally occurring fructose, like fruits, milk (there have to be sugar free types of milk available) I would still allow. The sugar in milk is lactose (as opposed to the added processed sugars), and I do believe lactose-free milk would contain minimal or no sugar, so maybe you could give that a try. For coffee, there are also sugar-free creamers (probably made with lactose-free milk).
I do hope you'll allow yourself SOME variety other than nothing but beef, bacon and eggs. Have some fruits, vegetables, nuts, rice, even pasta (there are sugar free pasta and pizza sauces I think). Maybe even pizza would be okay without the cheese, and sugar-free crusts or breads are possible but hard do find, you might have to bake it yourself. But I'm sure you can get creative and still stick to the diet. Steak and eggs does sound tempting to me, and I honestly was salivating in that video where you unpacked your meat order, but could I do JUST those foods long-term? I don't know.

I don't know what I am doing Rick so this is me just relaying what came to mind when I watched your video. I get people telling me I should cook steak from room temperature. I used to listen, then I saw an America's Test Kitchen episode where they did a comparison and recommended cooking from frozen. Now I cook all chops (bake) and steaks (fry) from frozen, and it turns out fine. Less work and faffing around. Just got to remember to freeze them so they come out of the freezer separated. Steak zealots are probably crying reading this 🙂

Your BP is excellent and you should check how to place the cuff on your arm correctly. It does make a difference as does the time of day so try morning/noon/night prior to eating. It's probably better to do three reads a few minutes apart and then average them. You might find the first reading is higher and can often be discarded. As always good luck with Rick and you have many well-wishers here willing you on.

I have been fixing my health for the past 12 months and lost 30 lbs. I just quit cigarettes 4 weeks ago. I want the next level. I am achey, tired all the time, and already have Crohn’s disease. I want to try this for 30 days commitment. I plan on watching your videos corresponding to the day I am on, 1st thing in morning. I do have some questions, which I will Google. Such as since bacon is in the diet. Are other pork products ok? Chicken?

Pretty much all meats, ruminants are normally favored over others and fatty red meat is the gold standard. The key is in the fats and may will consume 80% of their calories in fats. Plenty of information out there in CZcams land and the web. Good luck with your quest :)

Hi, if you feel demand for sugar, brush your teeth... toth paste seam to have a sweet effect and more important is to get up and do something directly after dinner. If you feel lazy and ending up in the sofa, then it's a risk factor. I'm also taking away white sugar from my diet now, but I eat everything else as normal . Good luck on both of us!😅

I have a tip. You should correlate all your data for each marker every day into PowerPoint graphs & charts. It will make it easier to track & compare, spot trends, etc, visually rather than writing it down on separate A4 paper (90 sheets) which you will lose track off. You can also more clearly show us the graph data on your computer via OBS software like we see your VR games rather than waffle thru it all.
I do like a thick cut ribeye. I have one as a treat every month cooked on my Weber Kettle grill no matter the season & use a head torch to see what im doing at night. You should make use of your charcoal cooker as it tastes so much better. Also you should try smoking thick cuts which i do on a simple kettle grill.
Put some charcoal at one end & a wood chunk on top not those small chips (different flavours). Place the steak (needs to be 1 & a half inch thick) at the opposite side for indirect cooking for 10 minutes to hit a target internal temp of around 40 to 45 Celsius depending on final doneness to allow for searing after. Make sure to only partially open the bottom vent under the charcoal end, not fully open or it will get too hot & cook too quickly, & fully open the top vent that is directly over your steak to make the smoke flow over the steak & out. Once you hit the target temp you desire you then sear each side for the Maillard reaction until you hit 53 Celsius for medium rare. Lots of videos on YT showing you how.
You don't need an expensive smoker to do it. I use a basic Weber 52cm kettle for which i bought a rotisserie add on from Onlyfire that fits onto the kettle drum for cooking chicken or even turkey on Christmas day. It would open up another avenue of cooking & flavour you just won't get from air frying & you will get less bored of the food. Seriously consider it.

Rick, I wondred if it might be useful to monitor your blood sugar daily? Either with a finger prick thing or a continuous blood surag monitor? It's a really important and interesting value in the world of sugar addiction. Though tbh probably even more interesting if / you broaden your diet again. Just a thought. Good Luck!
