    Little bit of electrical tape around that bolt for removing the pilot bearing for a better seal will work wonders

    Allow me to tell you a small secret on how to get the crankshaft's bearing out easily, get a small rig and moist it with grease and cram it inside of it, then you put that bolt inside and hammer it just like you were doing here.. this will make the process easier.

    Did you guys have to move the motor mounts and transmission mounts on the frame? Also, for the engine side mounts did you guys just use oem fj40 mounts? Great stuff!

    This is the motor and transmission that I want in my 78fj40. May I ask where you got them and how much did they cost. It’s funny two of your videos have motors that I want and that my husband wants for his 77 Fj 40

      Hey Donna thanks for watching! The 3B and h55 came out of a donor BJ70. The 12HT came over from the Netherlands. Check out the classifieds on iH8mud.com, they pop up from time to time

    nice lads! Just wondering if you had to alter the length of the drive shafts with the new 5-speed and t-case and also what you were going to do with the handbrake?
    Thanks heaps!

      We are running the original BJ70 in the front. Running FJ40 in the rear but it’s too short and will need to be lengthened. No parking brake on either the 40 or the 45 now, but stay tuned we have some plans in the works 👍🏻

    Hi Guys, Excellent Job. I small question, that power steering pump and the Idle pulley in form of the timing gear cover are original of the 3B engine? where can I buy them?

    • @musiccitycruisers3863
      @musiccitycruisers3863  Před 3 lety

      Yes, they are original, mine came with the engine. I would suggest looking on the ih8mud classifieds or ebay.

    Hi. Hope you can help. Is this motor strong enough for.a.fj55. My motor is good but i want to have another one just in case

      @musiccitycruisers3863  Před 3 lety +1

      I’m not sure of the weight of an FJ55 but ive seen these engines in the early FJ60s. I think if you could add fuel injection, maybe a set of headers it would do ok. Otherwise a 3FE if you can source one would also be a good option.

    I have a 3B and 4 speed out of a 75 bj and torn to install in my 75 fj40. What are the pros and cons of doing this swap and if u did the swap, would you put on a turbo?

    • @musiccitycruisers3863
      @musiccitycruisers3863  Před 3 lety

      Pros are it’s a reliable old tractor motor, cons it’s an old tractor motor!
      Underpowered but moves a light FJ40 along nicely. Yes, I would recommend a turbo. We have turbo’d this one and it’s made a world of difference.

    Trust me don't turbo it..... 💣 if you want a turbo buy a 13bt or 12ht ! The 3b pistons and conrods are too weak for a turbocharger

  • @ValentinArzola

    Can you fit this engine in a Toyota 4Runner?

    • @musiccitycruisers3863
      @musiccitycruisers3863  Před 4 lety +1

      Ooh good question. I’m not sure to be honest. I imagine so as the 4runners were 6 cyl and the 3B is a 4 cyl but wouldn’t know for sure without doing some measuring
