I have used this for about 3 years now , still works great. I did do an alteration to it though I replaced the bar and chain with a Oregon 14" bar and chain for those bigger branches, cuts them right off clean. great little saw. handles the bigger bar real easy.
I was just talking to someone about these saws, about how good they’d be actually, and that I’ve not checked any reviews, and BOOM! I get the notification for this video not ten mins afterward! lol Thanks for the useful review! As much as I hate dragging cords, I believe this saw will work just fine on my trees!
I own this saw and it is an amazing cutting machine with a surprising amount of power. I agree with you, when people say it does not cut well, either have the blade in backwards or are just trolling.
I got this to ahndle some of the damage from the styaorms here in the Northeast and was very stisfied. Working over head is fine but the more angle you use the heavier it gets. Just lay it on the branch and pull the trigger Just be careful when it cuts through cuz it gets heavy real quick. Recomended.
I used it to trim the trees down the driveway and the wife had to put the brakes on me for getting carried away with it. I didn't plan on it being as powerful as it is.If you use it correctly and let the teeth grab the limb before you start cutting it wont jump and dull/stretch the chain so quickly. We put the generator in the yard cart and trimmed around the pasture with no problems. Less than a 1/4 the cost of a name brand gas powered trimmer.2 thumbs up!
I've had mine for over a year and it's simply a bargain because it's a very strong small saw, capable of more than one might anticipate. I must add that I've smelled the motor overheating a couple of times when cutting an 8" diameter trunk or branch but it's still going well after dozens of big cuts.
Well? I hope to get three or four years of moderate to heavy use. I just bought two replacement chains at around $10 each and it still cuts satisfactorily, hasn't lost much cutting rate. It's a bargain and I like that the chain doesn't fall off all the time like the Chicago Electric and Remmington saws. I like this chain saw better than any of the other electrics I've owned.
You got it for a great price. We bought ours a while ago and it's worked out great. The only problem is it won't oil the bar and chain with regular bar and chain oil so we use SAE 30 non detergent and it works great. I think the first day we had it I trimmed about 30 trees all over the place and it paid for itself the first day. The 2 stroke generator from harbor freight will power it.
I will have to try it with the generator, that would be a perfect fit. I have heard a few people say the oiler doesn't work but so far mine is.... lets hope it stays that way
TheStruggleville Ours didn't work with bar oil right out of the box so maybe they have improved them. There's a guy on CZcams that took one apart and put in a heavier spring that runs the oiler and his works much better with bar oil.
Dang it I almost bought that saw just because that's the best price I've seen on it. Now that you demoed it I wish I had. There's should be a Tent sale coming up in June, hope they run that price again.
in 2011, we had a major ice storm in my area, you couldn't buy a chainsaw or generator within 150 miles due to the demand. i took voluntary layoff from my shi#ty job to help clear driveways for elderly folks by driving around and offering to do it for what they were willing to pay if they paid at all. i had an electric chainsaw, a standard pole-saw and an axe. some folks paid, some didn't, one man gave me a handful of hard candies with bible verses on the wrappers.i still have them. by the time you could actually buy a real chainsaw locally i had raised enough to purchase a Stihl 18 inch model. worked my tail off with it but it still runs like new. anyway, i think I'll get me on electric pole saws too. just in case. thanks for the nice video.
I bought this pole saw today for two big limbs on my tree. It worked and seems to be in good enough shape to use again. I was scared because I made the mistake of cutting the limb from only one side and then when the limb fell it hit the bar and clamped down on it and the motor started smoking really quickly and was smoking quite a bit so I was almost certain that I ruin the motor. Luckily, I was able to move the limb around and free the saw and it seems to work okay after that. I wasn't sure if I could use 5 W 30 oil in it but from reading online it looks like that's okay to do but the bar and chain oil is stickier and it stays on the Chain better so I will probably drain that oil out and put some bar and chain oil in it next time I use it. The oil reservoir is so small that I just barely poured any in there and it overflowed everywhere.
Yeah it doesn't hold much oil at all, I have filled it up 3-4 times now and over filled it each time. I hate dealing with these trees that have already fallen, sometimes its tricky to see how they are laying and where the weight is. If you cut the wrong side it pinches the blade.... and apparently smokes the motor lol.
it's about $65 today if you got a dozen of them at $50 and don't believe there are memorial Day events etc 25% off one single item not your whole cart full
Man, I could have used that the last few days. I can only do so much with pruners and a hand shovel. I had a couple lilac bushes that some trees have starting to grow in them. Well, sir, you are getting some extra money to buy some new tools since your house is paid off. Be careful, getting all those tools your honey-do list might start getting bigger. LOL, I thought the little tool was kind of neat. Thank you for your video and as always sir keep them coming.
I was shocked to hell when you put your hand in front of that piece for size comparison. That was a sizable piece. I might have to go buy that thing. Thanks for the video.
I'll probably have to buy this as I just discovered yesterday that the sawzall I have and my ladder won't reach the two limbs I need to cut. I think I'll wait until the next mileage check.
I've never used a pole saw and i'm wondering...with the pole fully collapsed, how will it do cutting stuff close to the ground? Will the saw work with it turned sideways? thanks
Yeah it will worked turned in any direction. I just used it yesterday to cut the trunk of a tree that had been growing up between some of my pine trees, saved me from having to get deep in there and do it with a regular saw.
Just cause it's a new chain doesn't mean it's fully sharpened. It's not...Breakout your chain file ( make sure it's the prop size for the chain. Tensioner your "assuming"? Dude, you own a chainsaw.....right ? Agjust the chain tension w/flarheadx.
Here is the correct replacement chain for this saw - amzn.to/2qQQ4wg (affiliate)
Ive used this saw several times. It is excellent. The biggest cut was a 6" branch overhead and it ripped right thru .

Love this saw! Sadly, the current model is only 6.5 amps I noticed a small amount of difference but still the best thing I've ever bought there.

Its pretty impressive for $50. I have used it several time since making the video and it hasn't disappointed me yet

Its pretty impressive. If it is durable enough to hold up for awhile it probably one of the best deals I've gotten at HF

I got one on the same sale and love it!! Got the extended warranty and that covers the chain.

I got one just like it. It works for me. Great tool for the yard. Thanks for the video!!
I own nothing but stihl and I don’t use a pole saw much. This saw for the price is amazing if you install it correctly and I’ve had no problems.

I would also go with the AC model. For the $100, I'll bring out the generator. Like you, I wouldn't need it that often. Good review.
I was shocked to hell when you put your hand in front of that piece for size comparison. That was a sizable piece. I might have to go buy that thing. Thanks for the video.
I was surprised too. Wish I would of recorded it but I didn't expect it to do much on that thing... proved me wrong.
I love mine. Use it to cut down all kinds of things. Chews through Holly and gun like butter
I'll probably have to buy this as I just discovered yesterday that the sawzall I have and my ladder won't reach the two limbs I need to cut. I think I'll wait until the next mileage check.
Definitely a good idea! I was really impressed with how this thing has worked so far
got one a few weeks back works great . make sure you check the oiler mine didn't work
Eric Smith Put lighter weight oil in it and it will work fine. We use 30 weight non detergent oil and it works fine.
Thanks for the review on that pole saw.
Quoting different brands names you know they're all owned by Harbor Freight right?
Going get one today
i love the battery one, i got for my camper, so i can trim trees and limbs clearing for my solar
Half hour struggle to get the Box open my ass open it from the end. I'm just kidding I look forward to next video

nice harbor freight portland electric pole saw
It's so much fun that I almost killed mywelf!😂🙄
Where do you get parts for this pole saw
How is the oilier working?
just imagine having to use a gas powered one all day, you'll really be tired then...and in pain.
I've never used a pole saw and i'm wondering...with the pole fully collapsed, how will it do cutting stuff close to the ground? Will the saw work with it turned sideways? thanks
