@@Akagami0770 That is a good question, and as I have learned, Icelandic horses are very adaptable to new situations and climates. They evolved with thicker coats to survive in cold climates; we can speculate that they may evolve in another direction to survive in hot climates. Of course, this is just a guess; it would take a long time and a large number of samples to confirm such a guess, but I read an article in which an Icelandic horse lover took the Icelandic horse to Florida, US, and it adapted well.
The commentary could go so much deeper. DNA research has proven their heritage, and their degree of relationship to other native breeds. They have a greater variety of colour genes than ANY other breed, so mentioning only the usual grey, black etc and failing to mention the much rarer silver gene is disappointing. I would make the point that, not only are horses from elsewhere not permitted to enter Iceland, but that should even a native bred Icelandic horse leave the island, it is never allowed to be reimported. Nice to see them all though - that is much appreciated.
