Nelson Elvery-Porter no it didnt, i really dont know the rating on my roof. I guess its a game of finding out. The roof rack base are placed on the edges of the roof not on the middle makes it hold more weight.
Love this! my partner and I have a starlet too and have been wanting to rig it up with a rooftop tent. could you link to the tent you have? Sorry tried to find in comments !
Hey! This is so great and is giving me an idea to do it with my swift! Did you attach it straight onto the roof racks or do you have a bases grate? Cheers!
If it was up to me I'll keep it that way. I even had a pull out kitchen and fridge setup made . but my partner wanted to go beyond the dunes and camp on the beach so we decided to get an xtrail. I still have the car as a run around with the rear seat removed ready for the kitchen and fridge slide to be bolted on. Best thing i did with a low budget and only the car i had.
@@josephcorbett4884 straight on top of the roofrack. no problems whatsoever. I was able to fit a grand tourer at one stage before I returned it for leaks. watch it on one of my videos
Did you place the roofing straight on top of your roof racks? How did you secure it? I have a Honda fit and will love to do something like this for short weekend trips
So how did your rooftop tent finally work out? Was it too heavy fro the Starlet? I was because I have a Starlet and I'm thinking of doing the same thing...
I sold it before I got married. I needed a bigger car this time. unfortunately I had to strip it down back to its original. I had no problems with it. It was fun driving, had no issues apart from a bit more fuel consumption. watch the link.
HI ericson -- how has things been holding up? Is the roof slightly damaged from having that much weight on in when you're in it? I'm thinking of putting one on my honda civic but I'm concerned if it will damage the roof with me in it ---that's about 400 lbs total on the roof
How do you like those KINGS tent ? I’ve never heard about them till few days ago and don’t know how come but their tent are so cheap !! An average rooftop tent 3-4 person is non less that 2500$ , on their website the biggest one with annex is roughly 800$ i thought something fishy about it...
Alessandro Terracciano i have only used it 3 times, waiting for winter to test it. Surprisingly, quality is not bad for the price. I had an issue with a missing plastic clip for the rain fly and they replaced the whole tent! My only concerns are the ladder mounts. I do think they could improve on those, because they seem to be a bit too flimsy compared with the structure of the tent.
It has been on my roof until today. I have no plans to remove it anytime soon and I have no problems with it. I did use it 4 times, it has been great so far. Waitng for winter to try it out
Hi bro, My car is camry sedan 2004. I have got S-swing roof racks pair in my car. Do think it's gonna fit in my car ? Also do i need King roof racks to install this tent?
Looks great. In their web sites they say the roof weight limits are based on dynamic, i.e. driving with the weight and its forces. Plus the structure of the roof will easily hold the weight of 3 people. Though I have the same issue and was wondering what could I use and was searching for ideas when I saw your video. What are the struts you've got under the tent?
Pedro thanks, it surprisingly the driving didn't change that much having the tent on the car. Having the base of the roof rack on the corner of the car frame, i think, would make it hold the weight much better. They are just standard roof racks if you're asking about what's underneath the tent, since the tent is solid underneath with rails for tent attachment adjustments .
@@ericsonenopia yeah, I'd imagine drive is OK, I never feel beefy roof box on cars really. So you only have standard roof bars, and the tent as provided set up on them? Nothing in between? Cheers
nice vid brader. anong brand ng bracket nyo po? planning to install one sa toyota wigo ko (diy rtt). initial plan is to drill whole for stronger brackets. keen to know your thoughts. tia.
not many would be game to do that on a small car, but i think you have done very well. power to ya brother!!
Cheers! I do have an awning now, a fridge and a pull out stove. Hopefully i can take it out this weekend
@skidrowsux1977 watch my new video😊
I have been seeing them on little 'wicked' rental toyota echos. Doesn't look too outlandish.
Very nice , I have seen people always glorify SUV for roof top tents , you are amazing and out of the crowd!🤟👍
Thank you for the video!
Thinking of getting one for my 2012 Toyota Yaris! 😄
Thanks for the vid, really helps me decide what to buy. I think I will buy a roof tent.
Bro, maganda ito ah. Pwde kaya to sa Ford Fiesta 1.6 ko? Anung size ng tent? Or model? May ibat ibang size ba yan? Incase mag order online. Salamat
My family member has one on a Suzuki swift
Got a new sub

Good on you brother, looks mint.
Very interesting this models .simple but smarter tent car
That's awesome 👌
cheers!!
Might pay off to get hard heavy duty springs on your Toyota mate.
already modified👍 had to with the pullout kitchen and fridge setup at the back
Hey mate, they say these small cars only take a 60kg load - but with roof racks that changes right?
Thanks for making this video. Im thinking of doing this with my toyota camry
Has it left any damage to the roof of your car? How did you know your car could hold it + with people sleeping in it?
Nelson Elvery-Porter no it didnt, i really dont know the rating on my roof. I guess its a game of finding out. The roof rack base are placed on the edges of the roof not on the middle makes it hold more weight.
I just love this, do you think i could put one on my Hyundai getz?
yes you can. getz is bigger than my starlet
@@ericsonenopia would three racks be better for distribution of weight instead of two?

yes the tent is sitting straight on to the roof racks. the tent is designed to fit on it. there are brackets that would clamp on to the racks.
