Do you know all the different types of mens boots out there?
Dressing for a fancy occasion? There’s a boot for that.
Getting ready to stand in mud for hours on end. You know there’s a boot for that.
Well, if you’re just getting started on your boot journey or you’re a seasoned expert, here are the “must have” boots for men.
If you have a single pair of boots, or gasp no boots, start by picking up a pair of Chelsea, Chukka, and Moc Toe boots.
All three work in casual outfits, while a slim, dark pair of Chelsea boots can venture into suit territory.
Moc toe boots can stand in and take a beating where work boots would otherwise, but they still look stylish enough to wear out on a Friday night (if you take good care of them).
Want to take your collection to the next level? Try picking up a Balmoral boot for when it’s time to get fancy and a Service boot for adding rugged charm to your weekend attire.
And if you’re ready to ascend to the lofty ranks of boot wearing mastery, pick up a pair that are suitable for your favorite activities. If you’re a hiker, but you don’t have purpose-built hiking boots, I assure you they’ll be a game changer for you. If you’re a motorcyclist, why not invest in an awesome pair of Engineer boots?

The Wallabee would probably just go in with regular mocasins. But how do you make a video about "Types of BOOTS Every MAN Must Know" but not have cowboy/western boots as a catagory?
Thanks a lot for all the info in the description box. So many boots I’d love to have.
The train magnet joke made me chuckle
I did the "go big or go home" and went right for a pair of made to order PNW loggers (mine are from jk boots) they are absolute tanks, and after breaking in, the most comfortable thing I've ever had on my feet (working 10+ hr days).
Outstanding
So satisfying video! I love my service boots, and your videos make me wanna become a boot-pro, but I won't, that's your job 😁 Thanks for a great video man, keep it up!
Wallabys were the first boot I ever wore as a fashion statement, and I've always had at least one pair, they are simply the most comfortable boot I own, I was born in 75, so I've owned dozens of Doc's, but stopped buying them when they went Chinese, I still do have 1 left that is a Chelsea style made (and purchased) in England finally Iron Rangers I've had since the 90s, just bought a second pair in charcoal after sending the originals off for thier 3rd resole. I do have a Clark's hiking boot as well that gets the job done.
Great video! What is the flannel shirt he's wearing here? It looks great!
Love Chukkas (Desert boots).
I have a pair of wallabees in leather but with the crepe sole. I bought them because as a kid who only bought skate shoes, there was a company called iPath who made hemp shoes. They had a shoe call “cats” so I bought in waxed hemp. They were a skate shoe that didn’t look like a skate shoe. These wallabees reminded me of them when I was trying to upgrade my shoe style. I hardly wear them, not great to walk in with that crepe sole but I dig the look.
Also hunting or trail style boots like the Irish Setter Wingshooters, Rocky Uplands, or Grant Stone Field boots.
hiking boots are the ultimate boot! All the other boots are for show or for fancy boys! lol
Interesting opening 😂
I enjoyed the video
Where would you put the Original Timebrland Premium 6 Inch Boot, classification wise?
I'd buy some Chelsea boots but I don't have a time machine to go back to the early 60s.
I would add a short Laredo western boot with side zipper. I like those better than Chelsea boots.
There's a simple test for defining if a piece of footwear is a boot or not. Does it cover the ankle bones? If yes, it's a boot. If no, it's a shoe. So yes, those Wallabee's are boots - Clarks produce a Wallabee shoe as well, just to make the point.
Oh, for those shouting "but what about football/soccer boots?", the original "football boot" was indeed an over the ankle boot, complete with thick leather soles & hobnails, more akin to a traditional work boot, mainly because that's what they were. Traditional derby workboots were used because football was the sport of the working man, and the working man didn't have the money to waste on extra pairs of boots specifically for a hobby/sport. The modern football boot has developed into what it is mainly post-WW2, (with the development of molded soles & cemented construction) but the name hasn't changed - it's a tradition, football players wore boots when the game started, so they wear "boots" now, irrespective of the actual style of footwear worn...
Seems like my pair of Converse are considering boots now lol
I love boots, however I live in South Texas. Its over 90 degrees in May. Having more than 2 pairs of boots just seems ludicrous, as I can only wear them about 6 months of the year! I have 2 pairs of cowboy boots also. It is required in Texas-Not sure when I could wear all these boots! LOL
Nice intro song
The times are a changin' -- a MAN MUST own 13 pairs of boots?!
(Just teasing - Cool vid/awesome work/i find your channel useful)
I seem to have over indexed on Iron Rangers, Blacksmiths and Beckmans. Have a pair of Thursday Wingtips as my dress boots but, Clarks Wallaby for summer but yeh, have a bit of a Red Wing fetish.
Which shirt are you wearing?
Id say the most iconic service boot is the service boot after which its named... ie Viberg Service Boot 😅
Looking to get my hands on some of those!
Wallaby I'd call a house shoe. Kinda like my George Dan 2's they're easy to slip in and do something simple in the house so I don't step on what the kids left out. Won't be getting much further from the house than the trash can. Maybe a ride to the store, but not to go in.
What about Brogue boots?
Cuban heel?
What no snakeskin Cowboy Boot?
You need some cowboy boots! After that you'll forget about the rest!
Just got a pair of tecovas. I haven't worn them out yet, but they look beautiful. Review is coming soon!
This man straight disrespected cowboy boots 😂😂
oh no! What happened with my La Sportiva "Mountaineering Boots" Those are not hiking boots...
Wallabees are cool, and I own a pair that I wear maybe twice a year, but I wouldn’t call them a boot. The Wallabee’s construction is much too relaxed to be called a boot. IMHO, boots should have substantial construction of solid leathers and soles. So you can guess I cringed a little when you shared your high top sneaker/ hiking boot. 😮
Nice breakdown I agree with your picks except the 🚶♂️boots
That Thursday Chukka is revolting. 100% product placement.
I think Chelsea boots look good on certain guys with certain styles of clothes. That said, they are so not my style that if I wore them anyone that knows me would be like "what the hell shoes are you wearing". Its a lot easier for me to pull off a chukka or some other boot. Maybe it's a regional thing.
Totally feel you. But a man's gotta wear what makes him feel good!
@@BootSpy 💯 I agree objectively they look great. Maybe my style will grow into them.
What brand of Chelsea boots were you wearing?
Wallabee is a slipper
Oh hell nah you gave the desert boot it’s own category but not the boondocker? Bro.
Which is the most comfortable insulated winter boot with Arctic grip outsole?
Go with bunny boots lol
Wallabys should be called the bedroom boot.
Iron rangers aren’t service boots mate, the red wing merchant is more like a service boot. Also logger boots have logger or woodsman heels not cuban heels, go figure.
What is that Ariat boots? What’s the name?
Ariat WorkHog!
Hunting boots?
No cowboy boots?
That was my thought. Great video. I enjoy all your videos. But, how do you do an essential men's boot video and leave out cowboy boots as a whole category?
Your commentary and analysis were good. However, the lighting and setting for yourself and the boots needs an upgrade, couldn’t see the boots well.
I saw the boots fine, maybe your viewing devices settings need adjustment?
Every man MUST know these 13 types of boots. But it’s okay if you don’t know who the senators from your state are.
Why crepe soles suck?
they get dirty quick and if they're low-grade, they're not very durable
I have a friend who has more shoes (primarily boots) than his GF does. I wonder if the right-wing tinfoil-heads are correct about Millennial men becoming hyper-feminine. What is your take (in your case, you are attempting to build a brand/business so the shoes are basically 'production costs')?
Yes they are metro sexual feminine
🧐 One of your 3 favourites didn’t get on the list 🤭 Granstone Diesel 🤓
If you're looking for any information related to work boots, this video is not for you.
Western boots???
#14 Wader Boot…. You must be a city boy.
Get to know women first . More important . Lol
I own a Clark’s desert shoe, one plus point with a crepe sole is they are super quiet in an office. I have a Clark’s atticus boot and a red wing boot and the atticus boot is super squelchy on cement floors, the iron rangers clonk throughout the whole design studio. So crepe soles have their place!
Nice collection! Squelchy shoes are a tough one. I have a few pairs myself and they're a liability
