The fanfare of the original is so nice and hype like you’re in a parade, and your version is more intimate! Like if the game was a VN I’d see this as an ending theme when WoL gets to embrace their woobie

This should have been the proper version we got. This is exactly the vibes this song should have given. I know the original gets a lot of hate due to its "disney vibes" and I slightly do agree, its wild how Akino sounds so whiny in the original when she sang brilliantly in "Scream". Amazing job this got me misty eyed whereas the original version did not.
i have the feeling a slow/orchestral version will be given to us in the x.3 patch ending

I get what you mean, but also the absence of the chorus kills this one sadly. The lyrics of the chorus are golden, and got me misty eyed when listening to it. It's the supportive backup chorus that makes up half this song, and it doesn't work as well without it. But logistically, you can't really cover a song like that, so I still love that we are getting covers like this. It's incredible and I hope for more.

This song is absolutely Wuk Lamat's theme. Personally, I liked her character, and I enjoyed the feeling of being a mentor traveling with a Protégé. I appreciated how much you could actively see her grow from a naive ball of energy to someone who understood the weight of the position she strove for, and the consequences that came of it.
What consequences? There were no consequences for her. The Scions and WoL were there to bail her out every step of the way. Her growth would be much more shown if she were able to navigate Zone 5 and the politics of Solution Nine by herself, while Scions and WoL were to handle Zone 6 concurrently. By WoL babysitting her the entire way, it really really stifles her growths.
Don't feel bad, I like some bad things, too. For example, I really enjoyed Waterworld and don't care what anyone says.
@@Josco83 The thing is, i don't think Lamaty'i is bad to begin with. I feel the hatred really comes from just not vibing with her energy rather than her being particulary badly written.

This is so good and you give the lyrics the justice they deserve. The original comes across as cheesy Disney montage that I feel didn't fit in very well in the game in the places that they used it, your version gives it the same gravity as "Tomorrow and Tomorrow" and "Flow", gravity I was really missing from one of the main themes of the game.
I think the singer in the originally was drowned out by the instrument and choir. Would love to hear an isolated version.

Nah the original is obviously too fast. The original singer did great on Scream but with Smile the notes that don't resolve to I can only guess add tension in my opinion don't fit the song. You can hate me for my opinion that's cool. I'm not the only one that preferred this beautiful version that I've probably listened to but a dozen times by now. No disrespect to the original singer, just didn't care for many of the music style choices through most of the xpac. That is most likely on the music director. Have a good day.

The lyrics to Smile are fine. It's the performance and choice to bring in a constant disruptive choir that's not only disorienting but ruins the lead.

@@fayte0618 Wuk Lamat is very Naruto coded. She's written like a Shonen protagonist and literally has a "I'm going to be the next Hokage" moment. Plus the fact that she has sandy blond hair in game, an orange outfit, and tries to Talk no Jutsu out of her problems constantly.
Wuk lamat destroyed this expansion, when this happy song came i had to skip it at how angry i was.
