- Did a lil refresher to explain what things were like during the most chaotic time to be a DGD fan, The Allegations, the loss of Tilian, and a lil more.
We also did a lil reaction to the new songs toward the end as well.

Ugh agreed, I can't stop listening to these two songs either. I keep finding new sections I enjoy on each listen. Absolutely loving the amplified role for Jon and Andrew is just killing it. Real excited for what's coming next!

All your thoughts are pretty much exactly what I've been thinking/observing. Should check out the interview Andrew did recently where he talks about it basically being Secret Band+ and Jon being the frontman for the time being. I'm all for it
I've seen clips here and there on the sub from that podcast, but I'll definitely give the full thing a watch soon!
I'm real glad Andrew gave the position a shot, despite his reservations. He's wonderful support for Jon, I too am here for it!
Speed Demon is an absolute earworm in the best way possible, and Straight from the Heart gives me big Eidola vibes. I think I also heard somewhere that Andrew doesn't want to be the permanent lead vocalist, and that they're going to have a rotation of different artists doing features. Maybe Kurt collab then?
God, the things I would do for a Kurt feature 😭 it would be amazing. The best thing to come from this split is the possibility of more collabs! I've had both singles scratch that amazing itch, I think Straight from the Heart is such a sleeper with those discordant sections.
I'm about 40 minutes into the pod where Andrew said that and you know what, I don't blame him for not wanting that spot permanently. Gonna finish it off and see what else he commented on

Please do an in depth video of dgds history i would definitely watch it even though i already know it, i just really liked everything you had to about it and your voice is very nice. Also the first tillian album with dgd was actually Acceptance speech which in a way these two new songs remind me of…. With jackpot juicer and afterburner mixed in

I think it's a collection of past lead singers..and if you notice, Sergio is dressed as a shark..so we are seeing the original members..and prior members are represented by the costumes
Yes, definitely agree with your analysis here. I think the more I watched it, the more it felt like this was the idea. Heavy on the "Sit on the throne, someone will slit your throat" energy, as far as the lead position being a lil cursed lmfao

My biggest issue with how Tilian handled it was that he responds to the allegations by apologizing and saying he's going into therapy to specifically address the predatory behavior. He then comes back later to "set the record straight" and claims it was never about that and it was only about alcohol. I'm glad he's gone, and Andrew is absolutely killing it with these new singles.
I'd have to agree with you. It really soured how I looked at him. Yes, he was grieving and we all go through it differently, it just felt like a massive deflection. While yes, we can't know the extent of his substance abuse, that wasn't the main reason he was pushed to go on a hiatus. So in the end, it all just felt really dishonest to say upon returning that it was just alcohol that he got treated for.. we all saw it unfold and most of us feel lied to lol
I'm happy we get more Jon and more spotlight on the rest of the guys now as a result. I hope it's smooth sailing for them from here on.

This sound feels more akin to DeathStar, that was the last time Jon was the frontman for the band back when they first got Kurt.

Fair analysis, I can see where you're coming from with the Death Star mention. Kurt always felt complimentary to Jon on that project and I'd love it if anything on the future projects sounds anything like that (big on the PLS BRING ON KURT)

Super upset about the coheed tour still because its actually part of my dream show lineup Dance Gavin, Protest the Hero, Coheed would be such a flawless show IMO DGD is the only of the three I would call one of my favorite bands but this being my dream show does speak volumes about how I feel about the other two
Ugh I feel you. I had tickets for that tour and once it was a cancelled show, I just got a refund 😭 I love coheed but since I'd already seen them live, I was really going for my first DGD show. It still hasn't happened for me 🤣
Finally, someone reacting to this that gets it. The reddit civil war has been so toxic, even shitting on these singles. Finally, seeing someone enjoy these masterpieces is awesome! Can't wait to see the reaction of the full album when it comes out🤟

It took me like 3 watches to realize that the final shot of Jon was him inside the suit lmfao I'm catching your drift now. But it just looks to me like Gobby represents the lead position and the end scene is Jon becoming him. It's so fun to look for these lil details 😂
I dont want to hate on Andrew, I just like over the top vocals and Johnny and Tillian set the bar high. I bet if he worked with Melissa Cross he would be way better. Until then Jon will have to carry the band as far as dynamic vocals.
I hear you, man, the bar is set pretty high. But I have heard that Andrew has been working on his vocals, though! He said on a recent podcast that he's been working with a vocal coach. So I trust that Jon is in good company, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Tilians absence is already leaving a huge hole. After a run of the best 4 albums of their entire career, it sucks to see lineup issues still continue to plague this band. Hope he finds his way back to the band eventually.
Andrew is fine. Tillian is not DGD's identity.
Meh, I honestly don't feel the hole some people are mentioning. I remember feeling the difference between the Jonny and Kurt eras and being hopeful for the variety, feels that way now too.
Sure, Tilian had something special during his DGD tenure but I don't think him leaving will break them. And Andrew is doing great. I think as DGD fans we've always had to keep an open mind for what comes next, this change is no different.
If anything, I miss Tim the most since it feels very apparent that the bass has been less funky. Also my personal dream would be them making an album full of features like with Jonny, Kurt, Rob, Spencer, or hell even get Anthony Kiedis to sing bingbangbidibong California to accompany Jon's nonsensical lyrics
Tim is so missed. Sergio is wonderful and I definitely don't want to take away from his contributions, but yeah 😭

I've only seen the videos once, so it's possible I'm reading too deeply into it from a surface level analysis lol But I did also say, it can be interpreted as a couple things.
Imo, the more I think about it, it seems to just represent the physical embodiment of what becomes of a lead singer lmao

I'm very curious to see if he responds! I find it interesting that in all interviews the band has been extremely cordial towards Til, and really pushing the creative differences as being the reason for him leaving and then also putting these out. It's wild out here!
