    Both guitarists of Cradle of filth are playing arenas with one 005 and one radar, each so it should be great for most of us playing small to medium gigs. Ultra affordable and portable!

    It's a great pedal for it's size and prize. I also own the Radar and 008 and I always bypass the cabsim and add a overdrive/ts pedal if I use a guitar with passive pickups. I slightly prefer the 008 and sometimes add the clean channel of the 005 before 008. You can get some cool gnarly Nevermore-sounds with that combination. For live usage and jamming these micro series are excellent.

    That is very impressive and interesting! Even with the loaded IR it sounds good. As a mini pedal for home recording maybe even paired up a mini IR pedal and loaded with Bogren's best.

    Best Pedal Ever.

    I have this pedal and love it. However, am also considering a Line 6 POD Go...so all amps, cabs, effects, and wah/volume pedal are all contained in one easy to carry unit. Then you just need a lightweight FRFR speaker and you're good to go. Besides my personal hard rock/metal band, I also play for my church, so I need some versatility of tones and effects. So even though there are some amps, cabs and effects I'll never end up using, I find it easier to gig vs getting a few micro pedals and then needing some effects and wah pedal separate...which means connector cables, power supply, etc. Just some thoughts, but the choices we have now as musicians in the 21st century are amazing.
    I'm also looking to "upgrade" my Schecter Solo 6 Std and US Peavey Wolfgang Special to EMGs...57/66 for the Schecter and 85/HA for the Wolfgang. I really dig Zakk Wylde's tone, but find his cleaner tones lacking. That's where I think a 60 or 60A in the neck would work better. That 85 in the neck gets pretty dark and woofy IMO. Besides one of those new LTD EC-1001T CTM in satin silverburst, I am also really digging the Fender Jim Root tele...the satin white w/black pickguard just looks nice!

      Indeed! You can get really good and big tones from really small devices nowadays 👌.
      Sounds cool! I have EMG 81 & 85 on most of my guitars, 57 & 66 on some and some passive Duncans on a few and I like them all a lot 🤘.

    So can the cab sim be bypassed on the pedal? I think I thought you mentioned that you could use other IR's with it but just want to check. Also, wow it sounds really good. Abit of EQ or a different Sim, that thing could sound great. Im actually on the hunt for a Distortion/Preamp pedal for my 59 Fender Tweed Bassman Combo amp to turn it into a hi gain ripper for small gigs, so this may be a good option. Other pedals Ive been considering are the ReVV Purple or Red, EVH 5150, EngL Powerball.

    I would love to hear this through your iconoclast. I'm curious how that would affect the sound and the cleans. Are you running this in front of the amp or through the effects loop? It sounded great, except for the clean lol. That was ok. Like you said, that is not what it is for.

    I have the same Micro Preamp. As well as the 015 (even called "Brown Sound" but is emulating a Peavey 5150). A tip for both preamps: forget the Clean-channels (there are dedicated Micro Preamps for this), although i never saw any demo mentioning that but the 2 channels per Preamp are interacting with each other and not independent: if you change sound or gain on one it will affect the other channel too! So i use the clean channel only to set the overall sound-charakter of the Preamp (brighter, bassier, darker etc.) and then use the Overdrive-channel to finetune the sound.

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  Před 4 lety +3

      Cool! I didn't notice that they'd be interacting with each other but totally opposite. Both channels remembers the settings you've dialled in and they only change if you change them. So when you've dialled in the lead channel and then when you switch to the clean channel the knobs' "positions" don't have anything to do with the clean channels positions but you gotta tweak that separately and when you go back to the lead channel again the settings (sound) are the ones you dialled in before switching to the clean channel no matter where the knobs are. But maybe that's just my experience ;-)

    • @Worlds_Worst_Guitarist
      @Worlds_Worst_Guitarist Před 4 lety +1

      @@EugeValovirta230V Euge, that is right for its own, they remember their specific channel settings. BUT if you -lets say- turn the mids in the clean channel down you will notice your Gain Channel become scooped in its core tone, or maybe you set the Gain Channel to full Bass your Clean Channel will suddenly become fuller in its core tone, or you set a higher Gain in Clean your whole Gain Channel becomes gainier (if that makes sense to you?), you can even hear it in your demo. I have that with both my Micro Preamps, so would think it is just the way they work.

    Question: Does this still need an amp of some sort or can I basically plug it in straight to an cab without any amps?

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  Před 8 měsíci +1

      These are designed to go straight into audio interface / mixer but of you bypass the built in cab sim and run this to a power amp then you get a strong enough signal to run into a cab.
