  • Do Mooer micro preamps and the GE200 sound different? | 005 Brown Sound and the 008 Cali MK3
Hey guys! I've wanted to throw this together for a while now. I've always wondered if there was any huge difference between the Mooer micropreamps and the same models that are being modeled in the GE200. I only have the 005 Brown Sound (EVH 5150 iii), and the 008 Cali MK3 (Mesa Boogie Mark 3), but we'll compare them live and in a mix, and see how they differ!

So many CZcams channels demoing gear in all different price ranges often have a bunch of expensive guitars, studio gear and an assortment of amps and cabs. Most of us are envious but also having all that stuff isn’t practical, hence why modellers sell well these days and the growth in amp sim vst software & speaker cabinet impulse responses

@@TaylorDanley Yeah I hadn't heard of Valeton either until GuitarMax reviewed their TAR-20G 20w mini amp head recently. My hunch is many of the overseas pedal companies 'share' designs, build them into different products & see what sticks.. I even found info online that Valeton is a trademark of Hotone, which is somewhat affiliated with Sonicake? Anyways based on this I really do wonder if the Valeton Coral Amp is literally the same amp models from Mooer's preamp series rolled into one product. Here's the best demo I've seen on CZcams so far, I was impressed: czcams.com/video/5zHWYNANnbc/video.html

I have the Valeton coral and it’s a disappointment, can’t be compared to the Mooer micro precise tonal definition and clarity. The flamma preamp is probably the best deal on the market now, it’s sounds very close to the Mooer micros and you have 7 amps in a sturdy full size pedal for 100$.

      @christianbouchard7136 Před 2 lety +1

@@sonofdirt I also believed that it was the same amp modeling repackaged under different brand names but it’s not the case, the Mooers are untouchable for the money so far, I own the Valeton coral, the flamma preamp and I had the donner devil 5150, the donner was a big disappointment, I was excited about it thinking it was a repackaged Mooer 5150 with a reverb, it sounded muddy and the reverb was horrible. The flamma is good, the BE100 is awesome and the 5150 sounds great very similar to the Mooer 5150 but it’s clearly not the same algorithm, they react and sound different.

Another thing to take into consideration is that if you get one of the mini pedals and aren't super happy with the sound, there's really not much you can do aside from running it into an eq pedal of some sort to try and get it to where you like it. With something like the GE200 or Preamp Live, you can always switch out the cab which can make a HUGE difference.
So, while the mini pedals are a bargain at $100 for (basically) a 2 channel pedal, the GE has a LOT more versatility and if you grab an Ownhammer IR pack (or similar) it can make it even better.

005 Brown Sound definitely had more balls than the Ge200 in that instance. I don't know if that's the differences in the modeling or settings dialed in for each. Both sounded great though.
Then the MKIII came in and sounded pretty thick and raw, while the Ge200 sounded more polished and mix-friendy. I felt like the Micro preamp seemed to have more depth at first, but I started liking it less as the track went on.

    Escuche ambos
