From celebrated crime author Rex Stout, creator of the long-running Nero Wolfe detective stories, comes this early mystery, that served as an inspiration to the first Nero Wolfe novel Fer-de-Lance, of a golfer who, while out on the greens, clutches his chest and keels over from an apparent heart attack. But the coroner rules it a poisoning, and the president of the country club, Canby Rankin, takes it upon himself to track down the killer. - Summary by Ben Tucker

Great story, read well! Thanks!
Thank you so much!!
I could listen to Ben Tucker read a list of unfortunate baby names and come away smiling.
Glad I hadn’t read this before Fer de Lance!
Very enjoyable story and very good narration although the sound quality could have been better.
A very clever story and I really enjoyed the narrator. I certainly hope there will be more Rex Stout stories as I really enjoy his writing!
Hi, I'm the narrator. Unfortunately there are very few Rex Stout stories in the public domain at the moment, and this was the only mystery I was able to find. But I'll keep a look out for others as they enter PD.
@@b6tucke Thank-you so much!
Thank-you very much, I appreciate that!
@@b6tucke I'm here, having just listened to and so enjoyed " Over My Dead Body". Mr Tucker, whenever I see that it's yourself narrating a story, I check it out. Hence, I've discovered many authors, such as the fabulous Rex Stout ! In 2020 I entered the wonderful world of audiobooks - due to failed eyesight - and am 💯 addicted. I'm an avid fan of your work. Best regards for 2024 fr 🇨🇦

🎙️🎤ugh!!!!
Sorry this is for long-deceased Rex Stout- but WAY TOO MUCH GOLF. Couldn't stay with the story.
Such a snobbish dated racist story! Whoever thought publishing it wd be a credit to Stout's memory must have been a money-grubbing philistine
I don't think you understand what LibriVox is
