- I scanned this in large object with markers. Here's what I found.
- Otter scans slower with markers, FPS drop from 30 to just 10-16 FPS so I've to move scanner slowly
- Point cloud resolution is much lower in the marker mode compared to geometry mode.
- You can scan a whole car with markers in one scan without merging.
- I use 150 markers in this scan, so a whole car will use 450-550 markers.

Hello, I enjoy watching your videos. At the moment I'm really torn as to which would be the better choice of the two, as I also have a Pop 2. I would like to scan my car to identify the right parts, but also maybe just scan parts with good details and reprint them. What would be your best choice in this area? Do you think there will be updates for the Raptor so that it runs more effectively in infrared mode and scans better.
If you can have one, you should get the Otter. For small detail part, it does as good as blue laser with less detail and a bit more difficult to scan with. I don't think Raptor's NIR could be improved much, it has A4 size scanning area.
@@Payo-TensileCreator thank you for your opinion, I ordered the Otter :) because I was impressed by how easy it is to scan. Especially when it comes to dark things. And since I use it for 3D FDM printing, the blue laser scan didn't bring me any great advantages
Can you compare whole car body scan with Raptor, like you did with interior?

I have an expensive scanner of good accuracy better than the raptor, but there is no mobile, there was a ferret, but I want more, the otter in my understanding will be even better than the raptor in the end, more will be squeezed out of it including a Wi-Fi connection and much more
When I tried to connect Ferret to my Laptop with Wi-Fi 6, it stutters sometimes. Probably from Wi-Fi congestion from my neighborhood. I prefer cable for this amount of data transfer. You shouldn't be too far from laptop monitor too. I place my laptop over a small trolley and drag it along.
Question: Did you ever manage to get past 96 Points when calibrating the otter with the calibration board? What's the best you got?
Why is the geometry mode in large size more accurate than marker mode? I thought marker mode is always the most precise mode.
I haven't tried to calibrate mine yet. And Geometry mode in Otter gives higher resolution and number of point cloud output than in marker mode (3-4x higher). I assume that they must have locked it in the software.

ถ้าเราทำการสแกนแบบหยาบๆ เช่นการลากผ่านเร็วๆเพื่อประหยัดเวลา ตัวซอฟต์แวร์ยังสามารถส้ราง polygon ให้เราได้อยู่มั้ยครับ?
หรือจำเป็นที่จะต้องทำจำนวน Point cloud ขั้นต่ำให้ได้ตามที่โปรแกรมต้องการ?
@@LIMNOPHILA ใช้ mode large object สแกนไม่นานก็เสร็จแล้วครับ เครื่องสแกนได้ 30 FPS ต้องสแกนจนกว่าจะขึ้นเป็นสีเขียว ถ้าสแกนไม่ครบ พื้นผิวก็จะคลาดเคลื่อนครับ
