    It’s amazing how Kamigawa was printed in the same year as Brothers War lol. There has been so much content this year that I felt like Kamigawa was last year. Definitely one of my favorite sets, as it gave me Light Paws!

    For Ghyrson I went with an idea someone else came up with, and that is (mostly) Thopter Tribal. Having a bunch of 1/1s with flying combined with cards like Cavalcade of Calamity and Raid Bombardment that both deal 1 damage whenever any of my 1/1 Thopter attack, plus Impact Tremors, Witty Roastmaster, and Reckless Fireweavet that all deal 1 damage whenever a creature (or for Reckless Fireweaver, and artifact, which my Thopter tokens are) ETBs that synergizes with all the red and blue creatures that make Thopters on ETB, things can get real crazy real fast.

    This is totally not related, but Demo I thought you’d be proud.
    Today my friends and I were playing some EDH. I was playing my mono white Bruna/sell mill deck. I was able to cast Approach of the Second Sun once, sacrifice my Pursuit of Knowledge that had three counters, draw 7 and cast it again in one turn for the win. So good!
    Pursuit of knowledge has been an all star in my mono white decks!! Thank you!

    Gix is the second most recent deck I built. I have 9 decks from a 4-a very powerful 8 which is on the border of c. That being said, there isn’t another general in my arsenal with as much raw power in one card as Gix. The deck itself is pretty strong, but if Gix had access to one other color, it would be outrageous. Mono black limits it to a very healthy power level IMO. Myrkul plays really nicely too, plays like a combination of reanimator, aristocrats and enchantress. The way I built it puts it in a very healthy power level between my more casual decks and my old faithful Mimeoplasm build.
    For all of their errors this year, there sure have been some interesting legends to build around.

  • @DrexSinister
    @DrexSinister Před rokem +7

    I played Henzie pretty heavily when he came out and he really doesn't play like a sneak attack in the command zone. Unless you build around something like food chain to cast him over and over. The average game is usually has your creatures being reduced by 2, maybe 3. Which is still very good, but makes it really hard to hold a board presence If everything just gets sacrificed.

      @DrexSinister Před rokem +1

      I was disappointed with the fact that Henzie doesn't lead to a very powerful win condition without combo. It's a lot of hoping you keep drawing large threats to keep pressure on life totals. Also you have to worry about having sufficient ramp in the early game. Overall though It did play well. I had good games where I sprinted out of the gates with a blitz'd Etali and Protean hulk on the same turn.

    I am building a Kotose, the Silent Spider control edh deck. • @mrcrowe1848
    @mrcrowe1848 Před rokem

    can someone explain why Braids, Arisen Nightmare's ability is a triggered ability and doesn't work with Rings of Brighthearth? I understand that the ability is triggered by it being the end step, but because it says "may" does that not mean it is an activated ability because you can choose not to activate it by not paying the cost (sac)?? i dont understand how it's considered a triggered ability if you can choose for it not to activate.

    • @misterfox6094
      @misterfox6094 Před rokem

      hopefully I can answer your question. A triggered ability usually happens when; you move through your turn phases, a creature enters the battlefield, or you attack (I'm sure ther are exceptions).
      Braids says "at the beginning of your endstep" (trigger) the "may sacrifice" on her card has nothing to do with wether its trigger or activated.
      And most activated abilities have a cost and can be used at the players will and almost always have a colon (:)
      "Sacrifice a creature (:)"
      "(4), tap, sacrifice a creature (:)
      (if anyone wants to add anymore specific examples feel free)

    • @mrcrowe1848
      @mrcrowe1848 Před rokem

      @@misterfox6094 yeah the fact that most activations have a cost is what is confusing to me i think.

    I don't think Preston is that good tbh. It doesn't do anything by itself and requires both a creature and a blink card. If you don't put enough blink effects in your deck, your commander does nothing, but at the same time... if you put too many blink effects in your deck you will probably draw only blink effects and no etb creatures a lot of the time, resulting in your commander doing nothing yet again.
