  • Western Cult Series episode from 1964 starring Cowboy Legend Pernell Roberts: Bonanza - Episode 181 - A Knight to Remember - Arrested for robbing the stagecoach he was riding, Adam can't convince the sheriff that the real bandits were run off by a knight in shining armor who called himself...King Arthur!
    A Knight to Remember
    Director: Vincent McEveety
    Writer: Robert V. Barron
    Stars: Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker
    Genre: Western
    Country: USA
    Language: English
    Release Date: 20 December 1964 USA
    Filming Locations: Paramount Studios - 5555 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA
    Storyline:
    Guest star Henry Jones plays a flamboyant eccentric who imagines himself to be King Arthur. Wearing full armor, "Arthur" rescues Adam Cartwright from stagecoach bandits. When Adam is accused of masterminding the holdup, he finds that no one believes his wild yarn about a "knight in shining armor"-and before long, virtually everyone in the cast is convinced that Adam has gone off the deep end. Written on rottentomatoes.com
    Reviews:
    "The accent is on comedy in this Bonanza episode with Henry Jones as a slightly addled old senior citizen roaming the plains in armor on a charger looking to slay dragons and defeat villains. He chases off some bandits led by Rudolfo Acosta that were attempting to rob a stage that Adam Cartwright is a passenger on. Only problem is that Pernell Roberts is all that's left to tell the tale and Sheriff Charles Watts is having trouble believing him.
    Nice to see that this Bonanza episode comes right out of the medieval classic Don Quixote. And while Jones doesn't tilt windmills he does get his lance caught in a runaway stagecoach in a very funny sequence.
    This is one to watch if you're in need of a good laugh." Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com

      @n/a Rubbish! All the cast had their as you call it " superiority complexes" , No one wanted him to leave and he was friends with them all! Yes he had artistic differences with them all , as they did with him but they wanted him to stay, Lorne Greene tried to persuade him to stay. Michael Landon stopped any future actor from taking Pernell's place because he thought it would take the focus of of him. The door was left open in the hope he would come back to the role of Adam as no one could replace him. Tell me ...where is your information and justification coming from? I'm interested!

    • @pernellgirly8064
      @pernellgirly8064 Před 2 lety +14

      @n/a WoW...Really?
      That was part of the scene! It was written in to end the storyline which was a funny episode! Is that what you are basing on him having a "Superiority complex" "distasteful" and "Napoleonic" attitude? He WAS a professional and accomplished actor! OF COURSE HE NEW THE CAMERAS WERE ROLLING!!! I'm amazed that this stupidity is how you have decided that the man was "not missed by anyone who worked with him, his superiority complex especially with his co-stars in this series was quite distasteful and Napoleonic". You need to watch it again, It has to have a funny ending to follow through from the context of the first premise of comedy. Mabey the sardonic part of Adam Alluded you!

    • @pernellgirly8064
      @pernellgirly8064 Před 2 lety +8

      @n/a Really? Your joke is on you brown nose twat! Pernell did westerns before and after Bonanza! Yes he grew to despise the Adam character because the promises by Dortort to progress the character did not materialise! No your wrong on anyone celebrating him leaving they wanted him to stay! Michael Landon said in an interview that " they took a leaf out the table and split Pernell's salary between them" but in an interview with Dan Blocker he said after Pernell left which they tried to persuade him to stay, the work load got heavier and harder, that's why the pay was split! Dortort said in an interview that each had their own attitudes and caused problems, Michael Landon was a stirrer that wound up Lorne Greene and caused problems! Your on the shallow research of things and I think a stirrer and a troll!

    What cracks me up most, is that Roberts actually played King Arthur in Camelot on stage, before he was cast for Bonanza. Same with the episode " woman of fire". At the end of that episode he's standing there with Hoss and Joe reading from "taming of a shrew" which he also had played in on stage. He must have had such flashbacks!!! Gooollly, I love that guy.......he was brilliant.....
