    As a solo female traveler I absolutely can’t go anywhere with my portable charger. It’s been such a life saver when I need to use my phone to navigate but my battery is low. I highly recommend getting a good one that lasts for a long time. They can be expensive but mine has saved me many times over.

    Thank you very much Lexie for painting France in such a wonderful light! As a French viewer, this is greatly appreciated.
    Everyone, please come visit, and remember: France is not Paris!
    My personal tip: Come visit small medieval villages like Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Vitré, Laon, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Pézenas.

    As a French man living in France and having traveled quite a bit in my beautiful country (never enough, though), here is what I have to say: Paris is a must do but highly overrated and the quality of the experience is decreasing quickly. Don't spend more than a week there and take advantage of the museums (especially if you're 26 or less, and a European citizen. Lots of free museums for you). I consider the French Riviera is overrated. Lovely landscapes but very crowded in the summer. I highly recommend trying to visit the countryside, pretty much everywhere. People might seem rude there especially if you end up being in the middle of nowhere and they are not used to having tourists and they might not speak English at all, but you will find the most beautiful landscapes, castles and villages of the country. If you go in the countryside in summer, try and find traditional village fests or religious ceremonies, which are often the best way to experience funny and interesting parts of our rich History and culture. If y'all need more infos or details, just ask me by answering to that comment and I'll be happy to help

      Bonjour! I'm planning to spend a month in France (in Winter) to explore this beautiful country & improve the language (current level of French is somewhere between A2 to B1).
      My current plan: Paris (9 days) => Normandie (7 days) => Voice Valley (?) => Semur-en-Auxois (?). Does it sound good for you? Or do you have any other recommendation? I love visiting the museums and nature. Going to somewhere with little or no English is high acceptable for me :)

      Bonjour @@yasha6466 , I never heard of the Voice Valley. Where is it ? 9 days in Paris seems fine to me. When you go to Normandie, I recommend the d-day museum and beaches, as well as the Mont st Michel. The countryside is beautiful too but the weather is not always the greatest. If/when you go to Semur-en-Auxois, will you have a car ? It looks like a beautiful medieval village but the problem with small villages is that they are often in the middle of nowhere and hard to reach, with little to no public transportation. If you have a car or someone to drive you around, go for it, and definitely spend one day in Dijon. It doesn't seem to be too far and there are great things to see there (mustard museum, churches, etc). The area around Semur-en-Auxois seems absolutely lovely and i'm pretty sure you can spend a week without getting bored. Thanks for your questions, and don't hesitate to reach to me again if you need more infos

    • @gauthierbertin9544
      @gauthierbertin9544 Před rokem +2

      @@yasha6466 and since you are going there in winter, definitely take very warm clothes since it can get pretty cold around Semur (high propability of snow). And you'll definitely have some (a lot of) rain in Normandie in winter

    Hi Lexie and thank you so much to discribe France in such a so enthousiastic and positive way ! As a french woman just coming back from India, I can confirm that traveling solo in France could not be safer ! Most of the time, people are ell educated and respectful but I must agree that sometimes tourists are considered as "target" for pickpockets and so on... but as you said, common sense is a great vertue to avoid some bad situations. By the way, France has not to be limited to Paris, because these are beauties and wonders in each regions. From moutains, countryside, coasts, cities, from north to south, landscapes, climate and food is so different. The places I personaly love the most are "Bretagne" region and its wild landscapes, the Alpes moutains, Corsica, Nantes and its famous elephant, Bordeaux, the Alsace region with delicious wines and Christmas markets (Strasbourg, Colmar...). It's really easy to use trains and buses to visit another place. France has so much to offer, I wish you great discoveries and "bon appétit" !

Also, you can visit the volcanoloes aera near Clermont Ferrand or Burgundy with its wineries and castle, Toulouse with its aeronautics, the pyrenees and the bordeaux aera (mainly for wine and liquors).
