The Autumn colours create a pattern of rustic beauty, delight the senses and clears the mind ready for the darkening winter clouds. A walk through Friston Forest is magical and promts an emotional verse.
Thanks, I love walking there, my Scottish Grandmother used to take us there as kids to picnic,! I think she might be buried in that Church somewhere aswell!!??
Very touching. My Grandmother was born in West Dean, her Mother and Father are buried there (My Great-Grand Parents) and so so many other relatives are connected with the village and Forest. George Holter being one of those, was responsible for overseeing the Forestry Commission work during the 1940s to 1970s.
Thank you Colin, interesting story you have to tell, I may come back and ask for more history about West Dean and surrounding District for a docu I'm making, take care, Season's Greetings.
@@chrisconil I have so much to tell, just ask away. I have traced my mothers family back to 1820 in Alfriston and I grew up in Lullington & Litlington, so theres a whole load of history to share. WW1, WW2, West Dean, Friston Forest and Pumping Station Litlington, Lullington. I love my history and always happy to share my knowledge & memories.
@@Parsons1961 Thanks again Colin, I'm compiling info on Villages on the River Ouse, including Monks House, for a docu, could you PM me your email, I'll explain.
