      Even though he had some big physicle ailments for the last 30 years of his life ( but still kept up his funny, friendly and down to earth nature) he did life a lot longer than many giants. 5'11" John Cassidy, Lurch of the Adams Family and the Hulk roars in the Incredable Hulk didn't get close to 74.
      Anyhow, 7' or 5'5" Kiel was expressive and funny + he couldn't die, not even a tiny shark not much bigger than him, could do it. but,, PUT THE REAL JAWS IN AND SEE HIM HIGHTAIL IT OUT OF THE POOL I certainly would.
      Appearently a stunt double is used on the Moonraker cable car roof as Kiel refused to be filmed up there .
      I'm 5'5" but have that in common with Richard Kiel,"ME NIETHER, shi,iiit"

    I think it would be an advantage, only a handful of people can fill that role. But if you're regular size you are competing with many other actors.

      Richard Kiel died long after 1979, as this interview was in 1981. Also, he was in "Happy Gilmore" as Mr. Larson in 1996. He was a ghost in neither medium, so that doesn't make sense.

      I think that you are mistaking him for fellow actor Ted Cassidy, who played Lurch in the original 60s TV version of 'The Addams Family' and he also appeared briefly in 'Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid' opposite Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
      He's the one who challenges Newman to a knife fight, so that he can take over as leader of 'The Hole In The Wall Gang', but loses.
      Whereas Cassidy was indeed 6'10, Kiel was even taller at 7'2. People tended to mix the two up as they shared similar facial features.
      In fact , they so closely resembled each other, that Cassidy and Kiel could easily have played brothers.

      I know, he was not 7'2" to save his life, Kevin Peter Hall was another liar, he said he was 7'2" but was at best 6'10". There are many pics with Richard and he looks unimpressive.

    • @stephenalanmoore7278
      @stephenalanmoore7278 Před 2 lety +2

      @@alfulci6914 As I explained before in my previous comment, the similar looking Ted Cassidy ('The Addams Family')was 6'10, whereas Richard Kiel himself (who played Jaws in both 'The Spy Who Loved Me' and Moonraker') was indeed 7'2.
      You seem to have mixed the two up, as many others did.
