I was laughing imagining the train just going by and not stopping.. LMAO
This is really a great video, I rewatched it multiple times. Missing your USA vlogs!
OMG! You had been waiting for such a long time before the train came! Anyway I'm glad I can see a ne video from you - I missed you girls!!!! And I keep my fingers crossed for your coming back to Texas in fall (October would be best - that's what I heard from my colleague who lives in Chicago but has a lot of friends in Texas). Take care and drink a lot as the heat there is so dangerous. Dring beer for breakfast especially ;-)
The only time I went on Amtrak, St. Louis to Chicago, the train was going to be 2 hours late so they chartered a bus for us. Got to ride the train back to St. Louis. No problems, but it took so long and they stopped at every town along the way. We tried to eat in the diner car, but it was so rough, the plates were falling off the table, so we left. It's not a comfortable way to travel.
This is such a great video. The suspense was real due to the station that looked a little abandoned, and I genuinely felt worry for you guys. No wonder Hollywood is so good in suspense movies lol
Amtrak is fine in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region.
Great to hear that, Susan! It might be our bad luck … 🤷🏽♀️
Trains here in the US aren't like those in Europe. It runs on tracks owned by freight railroads, except on the northeast, therefore it doesn't have priority over freight trains. I've taken a few long distance Amtrak trains and have never been on time. It's good for leisurely travel, especially going through the Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevada.
Next time you shoot in America, when you talk about weather, please add the American equivalent. (32 degrees C = 90 degrees F, 50 degrees C = 122 degrees F) I had to Google what you were talking about, because in America 32 degrees is freezing, and 50 degrees is cold, but can still be pleasant. Thanks!
Hahaha, sorry for the confusion 😅 we use always celsius 😀
The whole time you ladies were waiting for the train, I was thinking things like "God have mercy on them", "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here", things like that. Yeah, the US is way behind on decent rail commuting. Freight, we do really well. Passenger service, not so much.
Ohhhh how wonderful
Hi ladies!👋
I've been on Amtrak several times without problems. 2 weeks ago, we took a 3 hour ride from LA Union Station to San Diego. We loved it! I believe our train was about 10 or 15 mins late returning but that was it.
Last Nov, I flew United airlines from LA to New Orleans first class and when returning, our flight was delayed over 2 hours due to bad weather, and we were diverted to Chicago, then we had to sit in coach and it took 2 months to get refunded for the difference in price. So every once in a while, you will encounter a real bummer. The chance us travelers will always take!👍😉
Hey there! Sooog glad to read that you were this lucky with AMTRAK! We might try it again next time we are back in the US 🤩
hi girls 🫶 cool video 🙂, i am in tunesia in tataouine now and here is 44Celsius hot and extreme dry 🥵 i feeling like i am melting down 🫠
Hey Armin! Wow… that’s insanely hooooot 🫠
you can track its progress on the line.
I hope you feel better Micha. How to you keep your curls so perfect? I have curly hair but it's always so frizzy. You should do a glamour vid on hairstyling for travelers!
Hey Anne. It wouldn’t be much of a video as I just wash my hair and comb it while in the shower. Finito 😀
LOL! Yeah, Amtrak is late at times. 4 years ago I rode the Amtrak from California to Chicago... Amtrak is currently offering a 30-day 10-ride pass anywhere in the US for $500 talk about a great way to see the country. Cheers, Ladies!
Yeah, we never seem to be lucky with public transport in the US haha. Ooo, maybe that’s a pretty good deal 🤔😀
Great review and video haha, Amtrak is late often and what's sad is most of the time it's not even their fault and everyone tears Amtrak apart for consistently being late. Amtrak shares the tracks with Frieght railroad companies and Frieght trains often get in the way causing the train to get stuck in traffic. If you took a ride on a line that was owned by Amtrak ONLY, there will almost never be delayed trains it becomes a rare occasion. So believe me I know it's disappointing but don't go too hard on them as the tracks aren't owned by them therefore they can't do anything about it. Train brakedowns are uncommon so don't worry about that one too much lol.
Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Fingers crossed your next country is Canada.
Besides, you need to see Ottawa in the spring/summer. (Especially if you like pints on the patio!)
Hey Daniel! That would be awesome! We are hoping to see a bit more of South America, so let’s see how it goes 🤩
Without even watching 5 seconds of this video, who ever said the US has good public transportation? Americans avoid public transportation (sans Taxis/Ubers) unless they have no other choice. Taking Amtrak or Greyhound buses are what you do when you have no car, and can't afford a plane ticket. If you can drive somewhere within 5 or 6 hours, it's just as easy to just drive it yourself. Even 10 hours isn't so bad at times. That's because our Interstate system is generally pretty good. Now before the system became "the norm," yeah, getting anywhere took forever. Having to take small winding 2-lane roads through every little town was a nightmare to just go 100 miles. But once you get an Interstate gets built to where you wanted to go, you can do a 100 miles in about 75 minutes or so.

Too bad you had a bad experience. Amtrak's long distance trains can be up to 10+ hours or longer late due to a variety of reasons. In your case, you waited on an outdoor platform in the middle of nowhere at night with hungry mosquitos for company. Many Amtrak travelers have learned to pack their patience. Most are ok when they're onboard, but waiting for hours without any real station will leave bitter memories. I'm glad you 2 weren't waiting in the freezing cold.
Greeting from Thailand.!
Ahhh!!! We were literally just saying how much we are missing THAILAND !!!! 😍
@@BeerForBreakfast : You're always really nice and I'm so glad that our country has occupied a little corner in your kind hearts. Thank you so much and stay safe. My support is always with you wherever you go.
Hello, Ladies! I know it's been a year since Ya'll's visit, but I couldn't help but laugh, I'm sorry but here in Texas trains haul freight not people.
First! Good day everybody!
Actually, the real reason why your train was delayed was because it was suddenly surrounded by hordes of bandits and indians. So the train had to stop and wait for the US mounted cavalry to show up and shoo them away. Lol! (just kidding) Hope you guys are well and fine. ✌️😊
Hahahaha, until I read “just kidding” part I was like.. What the hell??!!?? Hahaha
That's classic smaller town Texas with the county seat courthouse in the middle of town and a square of businesses around them. By the way, I am so embarrassed by your experience with Amtrak. I hope the company reads this as well and cleans up their act. My apologies.
I'm sorry for finding this video a year after you posted it. But I could have saved you some money by telling you not to take the Amtrak anywhere in the US. It is the absolute worst way to travel here.
