Episode D67 of The Big Showdown
VTR 3/14/75
Airdate 3/25/75
upscaled to 1080p and 60 fps.
(In)famous episode where host Jim Peck falls down the stairs in the opening, and then gives off a remark that probably wouldn't fly on daytime TV in 2022, that's for sure. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
This show needs to be revived.
Years later, Andy Aaron was a contestant on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire, not once but twice! He first appeared in August of 1999, and finally got into the hot seat in December of 2000.
The big falldown
Yeah! An HD version of Jim Peck falling down the stairs!
There was no HD way back in 1975.. Sorry.
@@stevenpeluso7670 I mean HQ
0:41 WHOOPS 🤭!!!
The announcer was former WMCA Good Guy Dan Daniel.
Wow, Andy got Showdown and wins $5,000, The Big Showdown was a super awesome 1975 game show!
Also known as "The Big Fall Down"!
“epaddon” also has the final show of the “Big Showdown (aka Big Fall Down)” from 7/4/75, but sadly, it’s in audio only.
0:33 Just like the flashback intros on *"The New $25,000 Pyramid!"*
Ah yes, The Big Falldown.
Wasn't it odd that such an exciting, clever quiz game had an end game that was 100% luck?
The Big Fall Down
I wonder if anyone won the $10,000 during the Big Showdown's brief run.
I remember one~~
Think McFly, think! 😂
11:49
"What undercover organization is known by the three letters "I.R.A?"
Andy: "Internal Revenue Association"
I think he confused the IRS with the Irish Republican Army, but hey, if the shoe fits.... 🤣😛
8:25 Trust me, Jim. I would have done the same thing.
If you have a pair of 2 inch dice, you can substitute 6s for Showdown and do what they did on the show
11:31: I wonder how many times Jim hit that on his randomizer during this run of shows...
Didn’t the show end with the 1973 Universal Television logo on it’s original airing? (since it was a network show, though there was an in-credit mention of “MCA TV Ltd.”)
In Philadelphia Pennsylvania WPVI channel 6 Monday Thur Friday. This was on @ 9:30am.
We didn't get it and The Money Maze on ABC7 Los Angeles until after lunchtime.
Any idea what episodes the first 3 bonus round clips the opening montage are from? The second montage (0:13) with the woman looks like there are like Christmas wreathes on the set.
Also - is this the same Andy Aaron that was on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in December 2000? They both have a similar lisp. millionaire.fandom.com/wiki/Andy_Aaron czcams.com/video/MBHvIcTN-d0/video.html
Yes, that is the same Andy. I recall that a trader was able to provide him with a copy of this episode in the late 90s.
I Wish The Video Would’ve Been
Less Grainy
Holy shit, 60fps! Did you interpolate this from another upload, or did you trade for a tape copy?
I interpolated this from a .mkv I got in a trade. I wish I had access to the tape itself, then I could capture it really well (s video, tbc) and do more with it.
I capture with a Panasonic AG-1970P for VHS and a Sony SL-HF860D SuperBeta for betamax
a day before my 5th birthday
10:46: Uh oh.
I'm surprised that they didn't edit out someone from the audience shouting out.
To be fair, this is the same company that kept the clip of Jim Peck falling down the stairs, so 🤣
the woman is my co-worker her name is heather shes the besy
The nametag for the female contestant is Diane, are you referring to the person in the montage at 0:12?
