    "Showoffs" paved the way for "Body Language".

    • @marcpower4167

      The original bonus game was more reminiscent of body language's: The contestant had 60 seconds to guess words acted by their celebrity teammates and earned $1 for each one. Then they'd be given another 30 seconds to get up to 3 more, getting 1 multiplied their money by 10, getting 2 multiplied it by 100 and getting all 3 multiplied it by 1,000.

    Larry Blyden was slated to be the original host for Showoffs, but died in a car accident before shooting actually began on that show.

    Bobby Van was always so well-dressed and adorable, I had the biggest crush on him!❤ He was my favorite Tap Dancer!

    The buzzer that sounds at 00 would later signal strikes on a future Goodson-Todman show, FAMILY FEUD. The correct answer clang and the win bells would also be used there.

    I think the "Jerry" Bobby was talking to at the very end was referring to Jerry Blumenthal, regular stage manager (at the time) for the *_ABC Television Center_* in Hollywood, now *_The Prospect Studios_* .

    This came back in 1984 as body language (this time played with a puzzle format)

    Originally it was to be hosted by Larry Blyden, before his death in a car accident in Morocco.

    I don't understand why this show was erased. One may say it was because it aired on ABC which didn't stop erasing tapes at the time however it was also a Goodson/Todman show and he never erased any of his shows (with the exceptions of Password on ABC and Mindreaders on NBC).

    • @newstarcadefan
      @newstarcadefan Před 2 lety +3

      I think this and Mindreaders had to be sourced from the UCLA TV Archives.

    Though not occurring on this episode, or the existing November episode, a bonus round loss is punctuated by TPIR's "Losing Horns" cue.

      And they (ABC) could've used that on "Family Feud" when they lose on Fast Money.

    It seems a bit odd at 19:33 that they'd go to a shot of the audience. Then at 20:37 there's a jump cut and it goes from 23 seconds to 20 seconds. I guess they said something Buzzr didn't like.

    • @mrmatchgame
      @mrmatchgame Před 2 lety +1

      The shot of the audience looks like it was on purpose and not from buzzer, the second clip with three seconds missing could be with buzzer or how it exist on tape.

      I think a few shots were edited out because of apparently offensive depictions of Native Americans.

      Also, the theme song is the same as the beginning of the run. Someone has the 1st theme of dream house marked as this shows 2nd theme song. May or not be true.
