Things to have as a beginner lash tech
There are so many tools and products in the lash industry now its hard to keep up.
We wanted to simplify it for our beginners out there and give you a list of the main items you NEED in your life right at the beginning or your journey. A lot of the things you see, like the gadgets and the pretty things can all be purchased later, they definitely won't make or break your lashing career.
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲:
𝐑𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭
Any light that is bright enough to help you see those tiny hairs. This makes a big difference, you don’t want to miss any of those lashes or start straining your eyes.
𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐁𝐞𝐝
It doesn’t have to be a lash bed, but you need a chair or bed of some sort for your clients to sit or lay down. I know when I started I used a zero gravity lawn chair for at least a year before I could afford to upgrade and that’s ok! As long as you have something comfortable for your clients to lay on.
𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬
Of course, you need eyelash extensions to do eyelash extensions! BUT what you don’t need is an entire line of lashes from 9mm-18mm in lengths. When starting out, Either start with 3-4 trays of single lengths or start experimenting with mixed trays. Once you get to the point where your buying too many mixed trays, it’s time to start grabbing those single lengths. Don’t jump the gun and get too many at first.
𝐀𝐝𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞
Adhesive is the most important thing you need. You need to do the most research on this. Getting a glue that fits your hand speed, as well as your climate, is crucial. Sometimes, this may take some trial and error to see what works for you, but it’s well worth it. Invest in a good adhesive.
𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫
If your applying lashes, you need to be able to take them off too. Get yourself an easy-to-use remover that works well with your style. Gel or cream. Whatever your preference is, grab it!
𝐓𝐚𝐩𝐞
Tape is so underrated as an essential. Tape is your best friend and you NEED it. It can be used for so many different purposes in 1 set. Taping bottom lashes, taping top lashes for layering, taping the lid in different directions to see the lashes better or even taping your jade stone so you don’t have to soak it in acetone later. It’s a multipurpose product and you need to have that on hand.
𝐄𝐲𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐬
This one is needed but yet optional. I say that because it depends on how you get trained. Some train with the pads so then, it’s a MUST. Some train with tape instead and at that point, it’s a nice extra. Regardless it’s good to have especially in the beginning if your not used to taping yet, the pads can save you in a situation.
𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝
This was never a must when I was trained and oh how I wish it was! We had to practice on people no matter how bad it was. I always recommend having a mannequin head because this allows you to practice anytime, anywhere. You don’t have to wait for a client or friend. This is a beginner's staple!
𝐉𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞/𝐆𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬
I put these 2 together because you don’t need both. You really just need 1 and that’s totally up to you on which one. It’s a personal choice but you definitely need one because where else are you supposed to put your glue?
𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫/𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫
This is also a personal choice and you don’t NEED both. Most lash artists do have both because you can primer and cleanse but in terms of necessities, you could always stick with just a primer but you do need at least a primer. You need to make sure you’re cleaning your client's lashes in some way and creating that clean base. If you find the primer is not enough you can always add a cleanser.
𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨 𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐬
This is something that probably gets bypassed but you absolutely need them. This is how you apply your remover and how you can slide the lashes off. Also, you need these to apply your primer properly from root to tip.
𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬
Point blank, a set is not complete until you brush it out. You need to make sure your lashes are not stuck together and if you brush and they tug, you did something wrong. So you need to be thoroughly brushing your lashes and keeping them separated all the time.
This may or may not seem like a lot of items but trust me there are A LOT more you could get. These are your basics and most times, most of this is included in your training. Don’t be overwhelmed by all the tools and products you see out there, you can create the most beautiful sets with the bare minimum. Once you start experimenting and getting into the grove of your own style, you can always
expand.

Love this! But what tweezers do you have to use? X
Can you PLEASE tell me the diameter and lengths and curl you use when you do Hybrid, Mega Volume, Volume, Classic and the mapping of each set and where the lengths go. I am desperate. Nobody wants to help me and I am starting to give up.
I saw a class name Trendimi and it's only$20 right now
@@bbluxxbeauty6866 Where? On instagram?
I haven’t started doing them yet, I know this question was for her, but from doing my research the lengths are also up to you and how you specifically do your hybrids & megas. play around with the longer ones and mix them up and see what you like and make that your personal style for hybrids, megas, etc.
Probably late asf but czcams.com/video/rO-vgoJpZXY/video.html - she teaches everything
Do a course
Thanks dear you ve really helped me thanks
Such a great video ty
Glad it was helpful!
I’m doing my course this weekend ! I am so happy !(:
great video. i want a zero gravity chair to start on. what brand do you reccomend? i definetely want one that leans ALLLLLL THE WAY BACK LOL. suggestions?
Thank You So Much
Thank you
Could you please make a video about what a hybrid actually consists of. I’m having a hard time knowing just how much classic extensions or volume fans to add to a set.
Once you add both classics and volumes to a set, it’s considered hybrid. It all depends on how full you’d like your hybrid sets. Some artists prefer more volume than classics or vice versa. Others do 50/50. I prefer more fans than single extensions. Some do fan, classic, fan, classic while others do fan, classic, classic, fan, classic, classic etc
@@neecynae4384 please which one is the fan?
Wow me not realizing you are located in Toronto 💔 I wish I knew this before I got certified. I’m going to get double certified by you 😩😩😩
10:10 is what worked perfectly for me 😍
It would be helpful if u did a tutorial while narrating how to do it 👍🏽
Would've been helpful te recommend the brands that have worked for you.. maybe show every product you talk about.....
literally explained so good !

Thank you for this video. Im currently a student in esthetics but they don’t teach that much about lashes which I’m so sad about cause I really want to do them 🥺
I’m so happy I can help!! 💕💕

Thank you so much! 🤍🤍
I’ve been wanting to become a lash artist but I live in a small apartment and I don’t have enough room to set up a lash bed to actually do lashes on people
I’m thinking about taking an online lash course, these videos are so so so helpful!
I would love to train you!! Check out the link in my description if your interested :)
What adhesive do you use
What size ring light would you recommend?
Nice video, very informative. I just wished you showed the things you talked about 😩. For me everything is new and got lost trying to figure out what you were talking about 🤦🏻♀️😩😅 lol
I’m so sorry! I did an updated version to this that has some visuals!
Wouldn’t a massage chair work better? I also do facials, would you recommend a massage bed for both services?
We have the same name 😍 Ariel Renee!
Can you please make a video on which lashes you should not lash?
hey love, when should I offer lash after care kits?
Where is the best place to purchase materials? Thank you for this video it helped me a lot
Hey Zaray! Were you able to find a good lash supplier?
is the adhesive used in lashing latex free?
Hi,where to buy a good chair and lash bed?
Wish I seen this earlier 😅
What are the prices you charge your clients for ?
How many clients can one lash tray can do, I’m new and I just want to understand
What is a 0 gravity Chair ?
Which glue is good for beginners ? Well which one do you actually recommend ?
Following - did you find a good one miranda?
the light attached to the head is not a bad idea🤔
do you know of any good adhesives for beginner from amazon?
Well from watching the video, the glue depends on you and your location. Good adhesives varies bcuz of a person’s location.
Hey girl what 0 gravity lawn chair you recommend ??
I was using a $30 from Walmart YEARS ago I'm sure they still have them. They are all very similar so don't worry about it too much!
I wish you had pictures.
What ring light is best and how do you know which lash company to choose for a Canadian
So the one I have I got a few years back so I’m sure things have changed now. I would head over to Amazon and check some out. Check out the reviews and see what people are saying. There are so many options so you just have to see what you want. Like if you want an adapter for your phone or a certain diameter or even if you want it to come with extras such as a camera adapter.
In terms of Canadian lash companies, check out Flowrish Lashes!
Practice Lashes
Subbed
If a client has dirty lashes can you use makeup wipes and then primer?
I suggest you include in your policies for you client to come in with clean lashes for their appointment. You can check out this video for more tips - czcams.com/video/kHRy6198Bf8/video.html 💞
Dear ariel thanks so much for your amazing informative for starting students
Looking forward to seeing more videos of you 😘❤️
Thank you so much for the support! I really appreciate it! 💕
Thank you so much for the support! I really appreciate it! 💕
Why didn’t you show pictures of the other items asides the ringlight and bed ?? 😩 that would have really helped me out I clicked on this video cos I saw pictures of the products on the screen.
I'm so sorry!! I did an updated version to this with more visuals.
What type of curl and thickness of lashes should I get?
Tweezers aren’t in the description
Hey, What would you use to clean the tweezers so you can do multiple clients?
Barbicide
I would assume just some alcohol.
skin friendly of course*
Where can I do the lash extensions course?
email me at arielhosein@gmail.com
Heya girl, what Mannequin head do you recommend??

@@arielrenee thank you. Your videos are so helpful by the way!! X
@@jasminemundelia4102 Aw I am so glad you find them helpful! Thank you for watching
When practicing on a mannequin do you recommend getting cheap lashes? Or should I use the same ones I would on a client ?
Cheap !!! Then once you’re comfortable, u can start purchasing high end lashes for your clients
What kind of tape do you use?
It’s the 3M micropore tape! :)
No picture illustrations
You forgot tweezers!
Hello girly in your opinion, how much should a Lash trainer be charging her students for certification on a one day class 8hrs?.
Ouu that’s a tricky one because there are so many variables! How long have you been lashing? What’s included with the training?
@@arielrenee Tools are inlcuded tweezers and such, lashes, glue, tapes, fan,gel pads, nano mister, manequin head lash tile, glue rings, jade stone, and other things as well
well actually the class i found is two days, the first day will focus on lashes and everything theres is to know, the second day will be applying the lashes on your model.
@@xoarachely my lash trainer charged me $950 for a class from 9sm until 4/5pm and her starter packet didn't even include all those things you mentioned. She included a manual booklet, lashes, 3 tweezer tools, glue, glue remover, primer, glue ring, mascara wands, microfiber wands, and that's all I can remember. Lunch was included.
The lashes that you use for the mannequin head is so un realistic to me. Super straight, stiff, and thin. When you stick an eyelash on, it instead sticks to the pad 😂
This is true! It does happen. But I honestly like that it’s THAT challenging just because when you get to a client it’s easier and you feel a lot more confident!
@@arielrenee love your perception and the way you flipped that into a positive
There’s always a positive side! 💕
@@arielrenee thank you. What is a nano mister used for with lashes
