Right! Maybe I'm just blinded by nostalgia but it felt much more like a.. "community" in a way, to be able to voice chat with your enemy. Even if it was mostly just taking the piss out of the other side.
About the fog: Wasn't there a thing in early CSGO where there were a casual version of all maps with fog and a competitive version with no fog?

@@Rocksock531I am late to the party but to answer your question. WHy they wanted to add fogs in all casual maps. BEcause They wanted to nerf skilled players visibilty to give newbies some kind of boost in gameplay. The fogs makes it harder to see in long range and skilled players usually thrives in long range battles with rifles. They wanted more short range encounters so newbies can get some frags with smgs or shotguns.

The voice chat in half time is like that one kid from your school - you like to see him on school reunions and you become nostalgic, when you interact with. But in the same time you know it good you see him only once a five years.

True but the skill level of the people has improved by so much that you can’t play this competitively. Would not be fu cause it’s not balanced at all :)

It's just nostalgia speaking. This map would be just as boring as any other in modern times. Look at Vertigo. Arguably one of the most fun maps in the game, yet everyone hates it. CS is just boring in general

But I know what you mean the game was less competetive in the past and there where way more exploits fun boosts, dark corners etc on the maps. good ol times I guess :)

I haven't played CSGO in so long I thought this was what Inferno still looked like lmao
The idea was, claustrophobic dark and frightening house to house combat. That concept was watered down as CS:GO in general. So every map pretty much is the same concept today, good renditions of that concept, but back in the day aztec, inferno, italy, assault, were the most played maps besides dust1_2 and had a vastly different feel to the other maps.
The voice chat was hands down one of the best features back then 😂
It's insane to me that after 1.6 and Source Valve still thought that this version of the deagle was totally fine. It's a glock with awp rounds...

The Half time voice chat was some fun banter between you, and you're enemy it should come back if you can't handle it you have an option to mute.

I mean, i think hearing enemy team is a semi-good idea. Look - you can already READ /all chat. Talking to the enemy team for a bit NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROUND is...fine, i guess. Why not. Can see how this can hurt, but can see how this can have some funny/interesting/wholesome moments

I started playing CSGO in 2015 and I used to only play Dust 2 but my friend told me I should play other maps to get better so I queued a game on Inferno. The terrible contrast and the horrible video settings I had, combined with the fact I was playing on a shit laptop made it actually impossible to see people, literally 70% of the time I died I couldn't see the person. I never played Inferno again until the new one came out in October of 2016 and I loved it. Inferno is my favorite map to this day.
