Lyrics:
Well I'm walking in my sleep
Well I'm talking baby can't you see
Well all we need is a simple song
For people that wanna dance
All we need is a simple song
So people let me hear you say
Na na na na na
It's not your situation
I just need contemplation over you
I'm not so systematic
It's just that I'm an addict for your love - Hudba
Who´s here in 2024 and loves this song as much as I do?
Love this song!
Me! 🙋♀️
Eu ouço todos os dias .
Moi 😻🤓🌞
Never get tired of hearing this one...a classic! : )
Everyone’s too focused on ‘Africa’
THIS is the jam.
Africa paid the tax bills....
i agree... this is my favourite Toto song... and to my mind it's an underrated classic
Man!!these dudes were cool!!!😎
Real talk. That chill flow
@@aubindemontfalcon5967 Cuz Bobby Kimball was lame. Didn't like that layer to Toto at all. Paich's piano in that tune is dope on HTL tho. They were better off without him. Africa is just alright....mainly cuz it's different. I think it just drove us all mad and there's no recovering from the pop culture beatdown we got with it....and still get. GP is indeed the jam tho. They Cheryl Lynn to sing on it....'nuff said.
Steve Lukather the most underrated and under appreciated guitar players and singers of maybe all time and genuinely one of the nicest
This dude is amazing. Just watched a compilation of his guitar solid. He is incredible.
That`s a CONSPIRACY theory!
People who know anything about the guitar know perfectly well how good he is, he’s not underrated
Damn straight!!!!!!!
Because ?
This was soft rock, blues, and a ballad all rolled into one. The addition of Cheryl Lynn complements the lead singer.
Almost like some Cool And The Gang vibe.
Disco vibe
Wonder why shr not in the video though
What a band, what a song.
Fancy seeing you here

Same here.
What a men!
@@kindredfabular4094 My words haha
Sheet Music Boss would be nice to see your tutorial on this!
Been trying to figure out WHY this song is so perfect. Is it the melancholic vibe? The groove, the interesting chord progression? The vocal performance? The engineering? The guitar solo? The arrangement? The lyrics? I think the fact that those are all contenders is what makes it so good. Every aspect is spot on.
e) All of the above.
100% agree
its a perfectly executed and perfectly written song by the masters who played on all your favorite songs of the 70's and 80's. I think the real cherry on top though is that crescendo that happens at the end of the first chorus and the end of the song with that perfectly executed bass drum that you NEED to hear.
all of it
One of my top 10 favorites ever. Love this song!
They say a band is only as good as it's drummer! Toto had one of THE best drummers of all time!
Yes they did!!
Jeff porcaro is the best of all time👍
Master Jeff...genius....God of Drums...
They did 💯
Yes
Steve was only 22 years old here. I love it. They are having a lot of fun.
Can someone start a petition to have Toto inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame?
On it!

Absolutely! Toto is long overdue to be inducted in the Rock N’ Roll hall of fame! One the best ever!!
No man we need cats like Run DMC and Friggin FooFighters

Steve Lukather = soul brother. He's super happy about it too

Beautiful rhythm, so laid back by Porcaro.
Sadly we will never again have the caliber of musicianship, we had in the 60's and 70's

I never knew that.. ❤ I went to see her and Luther Vandross in Atlanta. What, a great concert.. I miss, you Wendy Pickney, my dear friend.. You're the only person on the planet, I could tell my deepest secrets.. Love you sister . RIP. 😢😢
My Lord, this is so good. White bands back in the 70s was killing the R&B genre with classic like this one.
70's R+B ages well because of the instrumental production. Some of the kids these days are starting to make music like this again.
If you want to be blown away, then listen to their live version done in Paris. It is on you tube somewhere. Absolutely incredible. Can't stop playing it.
Toto so versatile, killing it here
Mc lyte sampled this..Poor Georgie
According to Michael McDonald , Toto was a jazz fusion group before they blew up. That’s why they have such a serious groove and pocket.
This is real music. Real talent, Real singers, Real Musicians 🙏🏽🏆
Released in 1978 but the 80s will get credit Thats sad

It came on the radio in Saline, Michigan on this past Friday; and it was sunny. I was speeding down US 23 , and it just took me to another time in history in my life. 🧬
THIS IS CLASSIC... Nice to dance to in any generation....
I even looked up the original saying in Google...

For me, perhaps the best and most perfect song by Toto. So much funk and soul and with an incredible atmosphere. I can listen to it on a continuous loop.

Toto: Georgy Porgy
Release Date: April 1979 (45 years)
Wow
Toto actually released "Georgy Porgy" on November the 10th of 1978.
And it STILL sounds better than most garbage out today
I remember this song coming out in '78. Doesn't matter anyway. It was a hit in my book. Loved the smoothness of the music.
I was 5❤️
I played this song for my 22 year old son the other day and he was blown away,He started playing it for his friends and none of them had it heard before either, they were instantly hooked!
Eric Ben'et did a version in 1999, with Faith Evans on the chorus. Almost 20yrs after the original. His was a little more RnB with a heavier bass kick. More house party vibe. I like both the original and the remake. That piano in the original is killer though. We have to steer the younger generation toward old school music. So they know that a lot of today's artists sample from the classics. My kids range in age from 25 to 12. I expose them to the classics, 60's, 70's, 80's on through the 90's.
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏
They power of the good music!
Why did this comment get me a bit emotional 👏
Bless all of you sharing and spreading your joy- may you all live long and prosper
That was how my friend and I were in college, we would listen to a lot of songs from the 70s and 80s, came across this one and couldn't believe it was Toto. Pretty awesome song!
This song is pure perfection. The arrangement, percussion, guitar, bass line, and the vocals are timeless. Everything just slips into place. You have to hear this over and over again... it just keeps getting better and better.

oh it’s definitely out there somewhere, just not as main stream as it was back in the day
Because the generations are getting stupider
@@lalaloolooOr because older generations (you) refuse to go out and seek the music that people ACTUALLY listen to. Do you really think people actually listen to the radio? I can answer that question for you. Nobody actually listens to what's played on the radio. Everybody agrees it sucks.
Want an example of a good band thats on the new side? Greta Van Fleet. Want another? Look at Mac DeMarco. Tool is pretty good too, though they're 2000s. Tame Impala is pretty damn good too.
Look it up yourself. Don't just say "lol the kids are stupid."

@Swapster .com I'll agree with you there as a 22 year old - maybe check out some of the music put out by independent labels. One of my favourite recent albums is Skiptracing by Mild High Club, which has both musicanship and good production imo. To Pimp A Butterfly is also incredible too
The 70s were FANTASTIC
This song had a lot of the " big boys " participating on it. Like a who's who of studio musicians and the like.

Superior blue-eyed soul (as it was known back in the day). Cheryl Lynn's sultry, teasing backing vocal is the perfect counterpoint to that brooding, melancholy lyric. And I love this video as much as the tune itself--they're all so in that groove.
Steve's voice is one of my favourites out of all their voices, I think it is because the first time I heard Toto, he was singing and when `I hear his voice it is Toto, the distinction in his voice is very subtle but suits this song perfectly. The whole band is individually a master class in their own right but together they have a sound that is timeless and I am so glad I grew up to this!
