- Our 4-day roadtrip aims to show how much fun you can have in Europe in a long weekend, and now we're really in the thick of the good stuff. Join us as we leave the Vosges mountains via some beautiful roads and some moving First World War sights before entering the Black Forest. We had a huge amount of fun exploring roads that weren't the famous B500, and it turns out there's plenty more fun to be had on the local L roads. Oh, and the sun does come out!

I had a great day there on my Blackbird in the early 2010s… feels a bit un-PC these days to talk about it 😂
When I was there in July I misread the B500 limit sign as 170kph! That's my story and I'm sticking to it officer :)

Sorry the weather put play to a more daft riding style, but glad you had a good time regardless. The scenery looked epic, and even without that no doubt it was lovely just enjoying the freedom of being out on two wheels, with a mate, exploring pastures new.
Please could you post a loose route trace when you’re all done - just to give those who’d like to do something similar a head-start to plan from.

Stopped for coffee & cake in that 50's petrol station in August, fantastic find. Also crossed the Rhine at Marklesheim, thanks for the memories 🏍

Mattnav routes FTW. You are 100% correct about the Black Forest. The B500 is now to be avoided unfortunately

Great episode Tim, you might want to check your policy, most say you can ride other peoples bikes provided they are insured but this normally only applies to riding in the UK. Bit late now I know and your policy may be different but it is what is normally covered in a standard UK motor policy.
always great to get away on your bikes.. I've done B500 a few times on the way to Switzerland and the alps... keep up the good work :-)

Hi Tim. Love the voges and black forest. Been loads of times, was better years ago when not as heavy with police and speed limits.
Yeah - to be fair we actually saw basically no police in our entire time in the Black Forest, and we were there on a weekend. But we were being good boys!
Awesome... Kässchbäddzla, how natives call 'em. Never have eaten Schnitzel tho, they are just to keep tourists from the island away the good stuff like Rote or Bauern (what are sausages). 👍 😀

That's great to hear haha! Just remember to stick it in rally mode and set traction control to about 2 or 3 (once you're used to it, of course). Properly unleashes the beast!

Agree with you, So much more in the BF other that the B500, loved it when i was there in august on the new Triumph Tiger 1200 👍 check out my trip also was epic, 7 days also Switzerland - great video Tim, hope the weather improves for you 👌

@@timrodierides Indeed. The problem I have always had is not enough time to do several days touring JUST the Voges, plus then several days JUST touring the Black Forrest!!!! (we usually only have time for one or ther other, or just passing through both...) I'm hoping winning the lottery or early retirement is the fix for that (and all other bike trips that are always far too short!!!!) ;)
@@timrodierides I've been exploring the Voges for years and still need to explore more! ;) There are SO many great roads and sights to see, it's a never ending task! Did some great exploring there the other week and found some great new roads to add to the database, need to go back again!!!! :) Really glad this time we took the time to go see the Linge memorial, what an amazing but also shocking place! The war cemeteries round the corner at both ends of that road were also quite something to see.
