ELLO I did exactly as you wrote it worked and after about an hour it crashed I did it on two different smartphones each with a different number and both crashed. There is some update or something else that needs to be done because it worked, it restored all the information from the normal WhatsApp. On a third phone I use it as a linked device
Ensure you have a backup, use the correct phone number/account, and check storage and backup location. Update WhatsApp and, if needed, reinstall it if the issue persists.
What i know is that you need to register GB WhatsApp after everything is done. First go to gb WhatsApp settings and do backup. When you done go to file manager > WhatsApp backup. Copy backup files and paste it to gb backup folder. Clear GB app data. Register gb again and it will show you your backup chats.

After pressing on "Restore backup" it just says "restored" after that, but I don't see no chats etc.
This happens when there are files in your local backup, but your data is not in those files
