I want to add that when WhatsApp stuck in searching for Backup, even with Airplane mode is ON and no internet, still it keeps searching, however, if you hit SKIP and continue, it found the local backup .. you then need to disable the airplane mode and go back online to continue the local restore.

I purchased a new phone and installed whatsapp. I receive the message "unable to restore from this backup" when trying to restore from my google drive backup. This is the reason I am going to try to restore from the local storage backup instead. I moved the local storage backup from my old phone to the folder (you mentioned in your video) in my new phone. The local storage backup from my old phone ends in .crypt15. However, the new phone creates .crypt14 backups. Would the new phone still be able to restore .crypt15? I really appreciate your help.

From 2024 January version update WhatsApp is not allowing to restore backup from the internal memory, it only works with either Google drive or cloud backup

At the same day the newer one is smaller in size and WhatsApp keeps restoring it

It's simple, first remove the Google account from your mobile that you do not want to restore the backup from. After removing it, log in with the account from which you want to restore the backup. After this, your old backup will be restored

Good information. I jus have small doubt. Now i have got my whatsapp backed up to my google drive (Daily). Since i transfer lot of media's and documents i need to have them on whatsapp. By having so much important files my google storage got full. So i created new Gmail, jus for my WhatsApp backup and linked. now i have my new Gmail which backs up daily. So now if i delete my old backup which linked to my old gmail... will i still lose my data's!??

If you’ve linked WhatsApp to a new Gmail account and confirmed it’s backing up daily:
Verify the new backup in WhatsApp
Create a manual backup to the new Gmail if needed.
Log into your old Gmail, go to Google Drive, and delete the old WhatsApp backup
Deleting the old backup won’t affect your data since the new account is actively backing up everything.

I am facing the same issue. Today morning my whatsapp got deleted for some reason, I backup data daily so i had a backup file in google drive of about 1.5gb but when i tried to restore the backup chats its showing unable to restore your chats from this backup. I tried every possible method to find a solution but none worked. All my media is restoring but chats are lost. The engineers at Whatsapp are responsible for this, they giving shitty updates without proper user testing. If anyone finds a solution please let me know.

For those that are not able to restore from local storage, and whatsapp giving only Google drive option. (which in my case was 1 month old & Latest Daily Local Backup).
After giving otp to verify the whatsapp account.
1) Turn on airplane mode.
2) Then, accept the cntact & storage permission.
3) It will directly try for backup restore from Google drive, for 2-3 minutes
4) Let it struggle for it.
5) Finally, it complains about internet not found (due to our airplane mode ON). And suggest to skip it.
6) Press Skip (Trust me bro) and continue to wait.
6.1) Then whatsapp, says "Oh, i have found a local backup, but cant use it due to internet for security (blah blah blah)"
7) Only and only iff, it says that x amount of local backup is found. Turn off the airplane mode.
8) It will do the local backup restore.
6.1) Step is my interpretation. 😁

Bro, I'm trying to do the opposite, I want to restore the backup from Google Drive, same number, same logged in account, but WhatsApp doesn't even try, it just asks to transfer from the old device, when I say "no" it just starts and doesn't restore anything
This happens when you're using WhatsApp on two devices. To avoid this problem, first uninstall WhatsApp from the previous mobile device, then install the latest version of WhatsApp on the new device and restore your data

@@Subhash-it1md Hey dude, what's up? So, yes, I did it. A very large number of people have been asking me this, I'm thinking about making a video about it. To solve the problem, I did a series of things, so I don't know for sure which of these things really worked, so I'll explain what I did. First, I uninstalled WhatsApp from the new device, and logged in again on the old device. Then, I copied the "com.whatsapp" folder from the old device, and placed it on the new device, even before reinstalling WhatsApp on it. Then, I installed WhatsApp again on the new device, and before opening it for the first time, I went into the settings, deactivated Google account synchronizations, and activated them again, then went into the application settings and gave all permissions to the WhatsApp (all this before opening it for the first time). After all this, I opened the app, this time, it didn't send me a message but instead sent a code in the app on the old device, after entering the code, it looked for the Google Drive backup and restored it normally, that's how I did it.
