How to know or identify materials for moulding hats

In hat making,we have what we call moulding materials, of which without it,your moulded hat won't give a firm shape.
these moulding materials gives the firmness in addition to a stiffener.
we have sinamay ,paper mat,paper straw and the likes.
they come in different colours now
