Fascinating, as per usual!
Thank you for watching and commenting, Tomasso! What did you think of the early Joseon military uniforms? I feel as thought they could improve the look of a lot of modern militaries! :-D
@@thecreativecontessa Colorful, and i would guess practical. as i assume it would be easier to find the right kind of person needed in camp.
Would be interesting to learn more of the beautiful hat and parasoll you wore.
I'm already planning a more academic video essay on these garments, which will definitely include those items! 😊
Hi, any info on how the tucking is done on the Chima in the bonus materia around 13:10? Is it stitched? Pinned? Something else?
Thank you for the question! It is actually pinned up there in a fashionable modern style. 😊
@@thecreativecontessa thanks! This style existed back in the 1500s leaving the Chima to almost have a late Victorian era gown kind of shape. But I hadn't been able to find out how they kept the tucked looking piece to stay up. Thanks! 😊
I could never figure out how the square belts hold up.
A very good question There are little ties on the side of the dallyeong that hold the belt in place. Similar ties can be found on the women's wedding wonsam for the sash like belt that is worn right under the armpits.
Lol Chi Mi! Question: the soldiers in the drills ceremony, they had beards but i couldnt tell if they were fake or not. I assume they are wearing beards to match the style of the time they are representing?
Your assumption is correct! These reenactors are wearing stage beards because basically no man in Korea where is facial hair in this fashion anymore. I think I read somewhere that it was once a sign of a married man, but don't quote me on that. 🤣
