I recorded these shows and indeed all of Nigella's shows years a go and they play especially all through Christmas in my home, I also use a lot of the recipes and ideas. I am a chef that teaches people easy, quick, economical cooking and Nigella has helped me along the way. I met her in Melbourne and she was as gracious, funny and playful in person.
Unless there is someone left behind to check on what's cooking ocassionally, it's not really a smart idea to leave the house with the oven on because if something drastic happens which might impede your timely return, you might find the dish overcooked or ... a house that's burned down.
I feel the same about recipes that call for overnight cooking, like slow roasting overnight or long cooking stocks. Something about it being unattended is nervous-making to me! What if the unexpected happens?
